Howdy gang,

back from a busy weekend. The fair was fun and although it started out cool it quickly got into the 80's. I took pictures of the grandkids cakes.
Andy got 2nd place for his volcano cake and Ana for 3rd place for her hamburger cake. I was surprized to see they placed so high because many of the others had used icing tips and looked good. My grandkids didnt have icing tips to use.

back in the morning, i'm tired now.

Traci,
i vote for passports too.:thumbsup2

Just a bump back to the top - we are about to fall to page two and you all know how I feel about that!

Well, I got really brave today and booked the Waverunner excursion at CC for David and myself. I have never driven (is that even what one does with them) one but it can't be that complicated. I am really looking forward to it. But that was the only exciting thing I have done today - unless you consider running the vac exciting. Not me.

Take care all.

We did the waverunner excursion in 2007 and had a great time. I loved being able to circle around all of Castaway Cay. If you want any details on it I can look through my old trip report and find out what I wrote about it

Tonight, we're in Columbus. Today we went to the Franklin park Conservatory to the Chihuly exhibit. He's the glass artist who made the atrium chandeliers for the Magic and the Wonder. Then we had a trip through 28 room bookstore in German Village and dinner at Schmittz wurst haus. FUN day!

I love Chihuly. They had an exibit here in Salt Lake as part of the cultural olympics (During the 2002 Winter Olympics) and we saw that. It was 2 years later when I cruised on DCL for the first time and I was really able to appreciate the chandeliers on the ship.

I finished my photobook of our last WDW and cruise trip--now I'm so ready to go on another cruise. Looking at all of the pictures and remembering the details makes me so excited. I also won't be any further behind on scrapbooking now (although I do still need to finish my regular scrapbook of our first and second cruises).

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Whew. I am almost glad to be going back to work in the morning. Busy weekend here too. Friday I spent the day at a shelter doing yard work. My Dh informed me that I do not do yard work at our house.:confused3 It started out pouring rain, but turned into a fairly nice day, not to hot.. but my jeans acted like a wick so I still ended up with wet pants all day. :sad2: But it was still a very fulfilling day. Then we went and picked up my grandaughter, took her to dinner, and came home and watched the Hanna Montana movie. Saturday we cleaned the garage, then took her shopping picked up some stuff to work on some more FE gifts then came home and did some housework. Today we went to church then Dan and I did a little bit of running, went to the nursing home to visit my grandma, then I came home and worked on the FE gifts for the kids. I have 17 totally finished and have ten more just about ready to put together. My back and shoulders are telling on me for doing all the yard work on Friday. I took some advil and am headed for bed. Hope everyone has a great week.

We spent yesterday visiting our friends who have a pool! We've been over 100 degrees the last 4 days. It was so nice and relaxing! Then just barbequed and chatted until late. Today DH and I went to our fantasy football league draft. For years I drafted for DH because he always seemed to be working that weekend. Last year I took my own team for the first time. I am the only woman in the league (and the only one ever). I'm happy with my draft, and DH is already proposing a trade for my QB....hmmm think that means I have chosen well?! :rolleyes1 And since I took 3rd place last year...the 13 guys I beat out all had to talk a little smack today. Go right ahead, boys. I'll beat you again this year too! :rotfl:

It was a brisk 34 here this morning. I heard on the radio that some parts of town had frost. That is a bit too early, even for me. But, the sky is blue and it was to get to almost 70 so I am sure it is pretty out there.

Don't worry if my wife can drive one of those things anyone can.

I am back from Kansas City. Seems like a really nice city, but I mostly saw the inside of the convention center. I leave for a week in Chicago next Monday then no travel until the cruise:banana:

Hi Scott, nice to have you back.

Just thought I would check in and see who has been around this afternoon, but its pretty quiet here. Everyone must be working .
Guess we need to do that to pay for our cruise addictions:goodvibes

I'll check back this evening to see whats cooking here!

Well - we are on for 11:00. I am really looking forward to it and so is DH. Might have to do it again the following week if it is too much fun.

whoa...what happened to summer??? It was only in the 40's this morning and way to cool for this time of the year. We sure didn't get much hot weather this summer, the grandkids got to go swimming only a couple of times. I am just hoping the snow holds off until after we leave for the cruise. I am always afraid that we will get snowed in. Living in "The Region" you never know what to expect. The standing joke here is, if you don't like the weather here in Chicao, stick around a bit, it'll change. And believe me it does. Well dinner is ready, I will check in later.

Hi Everyone!

We had a crazy weekend too, drove to pick up the kids from grandpa & grandma. They had a great time but are a bit out of sorts, so we are working on doing all the laundry and putting everything away and whatnot, not to mention getting them back on an even keel with sleep and behaviour. :sad2:

Nothing like a visit with the granparents to thoroughly "break" the kids! :lmao:

They still have another week until school goes back in, they start after labour day (American translation labor day :rotfl2:) Who knows what that extra u is for anyway? I called the school today to make sure they are going to be in the same class, which they are. :thumbsup2 They have a new principal this year and you never know when you are going to get one who has some whackadoodle ideas about twins not being in the same class as a rule... anyway, all seems to be good for now. Just have to get them back there and settled into a routine again, that will be great. they do very well in the same class and don't seem to compete with one another or have any weird clingyness or anything. It's easiest for us to have them together and I say, if there are no other "twin" issues, keep 'em together.

Our FE is done and I have 4 FE gifts made. I had to kind of figure out how I wanted to do them, but I am rolling now, the rest will go together quickly. :wizard:

Off to fetch DD out of the bath before she gets waterlogged. It was cold all weekend here, but it's more normal temperature now, about 18-20 (low 70s) I would definitely not complain about a nice warm weekend though... :cheer2:

Have a great night all.

Hi all,

just checking in one last time before bedtime.

We had a nice 84 degree day but rain is coming soon and cold nights too, so I guess summer is about gone here too.

Oh well, at least that means the cruise is closer:cool1:

Good night all,

Kathy

I am jealous of all that cool weather! I am tired of the HOT. It'll be hot here for another month at least. I can live with 90 much better than 100+. Plus, it's extra miserable now with all the smoke from the fires. At school we've kept the kids inside last Thursday, Friday, and today. The smoke smell is so pervasive. It's horrible. At least, there's no fire HERE. I have survived a wildfire 5 years ago and I don't look forward to the day I do it again. I live in a semi-rural community in the foothills of the mountains... so wildfires are a matter of when, not "if". I hope I can go another 10 years before I see another like last time.

Southern California is one of the few places where "fire season" is an actual time of year!

Aren't grandparents great?? We tend to spoil ours too. My DGD used to run and hide under the bed when it was time to go home. She still likes to stay with us, but I know that the day is coming when friends and other activities will come in to play... so I am just enjoying every minute that she is with me.

Wow! I saw the fires on the news this morning. What a scary thing to deal with. I hppe they get them under control soon.

I worked on my FE gifts tonight. got a bunch ready to put together, so I should have enough for all the kids on the list to date, plus a few extra. I will then just make them as people sign up. When my son gets here this weekend, I am hoping he will help me get something ready so that I can start on the adult gifts.
Our friend who is going to FL. with us is also coming up this weekend, so hopefully we can finalize some plans, so I can get my airline tickets.
Gail, I think I will just sit on the beach at Castaway Cay and watch you and David on the watercraft. I will have a drink waiting for ya. :drinking1 Seriously, it sounds like a lot of fun, but when you can't swim a lick..
I have been looking for one of the boards that you lay on that has the little peephole thing that you look through to take on this cruise. I thought that it might be a good thing for me to use when everyone is snorkeling. I saw them in Hawaii last year, but I think that it may be a little late here to find one. :confused3 Hopefully I will be able to find one in Fl. before we leave for the cruise. Wish me luck.
Well, it is getting late and I have to work in the morning, so night all.

I can not imagine what the fires must be like. We get snow and ice - I will take that. Hugs to you and prayers that your "when" is a very, very long time away.

34 again this morning but the sun is shining so we will see 70 again. I just love Indian summer.

I am sure it will be five o'clock somewhere when we got off so it will be a welcome beverage. Will you hold David's camera? I would really like to take some pictures while we are out there but I think I will be picking up a disposable camera or two for the event. We shall see.

Have a good day everyone.

Happy tuesday everyone,

Good to hear I am not the only one who can't swim:thumbsup2 I sink like a rock:lmao:
We have everythong booked for this cruise. Airfare is done, WDW hotel for 5 nights before the cruise then the long sad flight home again:guilty:
At least I only will have 10 months to wait until the next cruise:woohoo:

Well as promised here is the photo of the grandkids cakes.

For being kids with no experience they did good although the volcano is really ugly:lmao: But it does look like a volcano. Both are 100% edible although i dont think i could eat the volcano, it doesnt look too appetizing to me:rolleyes1

Here i am with my head in a Hermiston watermelon. Oregon is famous for these melons. It was for kids to do but I am a kid at heart so I had to stick myhead in there. I almost couldnt straighten back up again though:rotfl2:

I love Clydsdale horses. We saw these warming up for a competition and snapped a shot of them.

Even where I am we get a whif of smoke now and then from the California fires. We have a few fires in Oregon but most arnt close to people. Thank goodness.

No news from here, just wanted to say hello and share a couple of photos.
Back later,
Kathy
