November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

I know. Our anniversary isn't until December so it will be okay if I don't give it to her until then but I wanted her to have it for formal night.

Ok, thats not so bad then, I thought your aniversary was during the cruise.

Our anniversary is 12/12.

What date is yours?

Kathy

Ok unrelated cruise question. Does anyone know when they turn the Christmas lights on the castle? I have my bridal Magic Kingdom Photoshoot on the 15th of November and would love to have the lights on

Pray our anniversary gift gets here before then. I ordered her a Pearl Necklace as an Anniversary Gift. I am going to give it to her early for formal night but the scheduled arrival date is 10/30.......It is going to be close. We leave to drive to Florida on 11/1.

Oh wow!!! That is such a great gift. You are so thoughtful!! I hope it gets there by Oct 30 so you can give it to her for formal night! I bet she'll look great wearing the pearls. :)

Kathy,
I was going to send our wind/rain storm your way but it looks like its turning off towards Idaho instead. So sorry I can' share my nasty storm this time. Hopefully next time I can send it your way. No need for me to keep this all to myself:lmao: I am such a generous person.;)

Kathy

Thanks, Kathy, for offering to send us a storm! :) It is pouring here anyway, so we aren't missing much by the storm not coming our way. It's not windy, though, so that is good. Just rain... typical!

Well, several December anniversaries here, then! Our anniversary is 12/9. Kathy, how many years will you be celebrating on Dec 12? And, BT, how about you guys... how many years will you be celebrating in December?

We'll be celebrating 16 years this December!

On November 10th they light up the Osbourne family spectacle of lights and I believe they should light up the castle at the same time.

So, I've been really thinking on this one... When did I find my love of Disney. I've decided it's really been in stages - with a couple of especiallly big pieces along the way.

I can remember the Disney albums we had when I was a kid - the halloween one with the story about Donald tricking his nephews and Witch Hazel helping them get him back, the Main Street Electrical Parade, Pete's Dragon.

We went to WDW when I was 8-ish and I went with the band in high school. Mom took my brother and I a couple years after I graduated from high school - a great trip and we learned a lot about how NOT to do Disney (lesson number one - NEVER use the the off-site hotels "free" transportation!).

But the trip that really started the crazy Disney travel bug for my family was the trip my brother and I took a couple of years later - we stayed at Dixie Landings and saw the pepto castle. But for me, the magic moment on the trip was the afternoon parade at the MK. Earlier in the trip we took the behind-the-scenes tour and they told us to make sure we were at the Magic Kingdom on Friday for the afternoon parade - it was the first time the new parade would be performed for guests. So we did - and what a parade! The 25th anniversary parade was the one where the guests interacted with the floats - it stopped and guests were selected to dance at Cinderella's ball or to help Belle set the table or to play "Genie says" with Aladdin. I don't know why that really spoke to me - but I couldn't wait to go back to Disney!

Thus started the yearly trips (and the joy our pocketbooks felt when I started with Southwest!). We eventually joined DVC and have only had a couple months here and there without owning active annual passes.:goodvibes (warning - active annual passes have the unfortunately side effect of causing you to plan last minute quick trips!)

The love of Disney cruising started in 2001 - my best friends basically forced me to go on the Disney cruise - so my compromise was it had to be the shortest one they offered. I mean, why sit on a ship when I could be sitting on a ship sailing over London in Fantasyland, right? They ended up having to drag me off the ship! I get Mickey, Disney entertainment and a bed that floats!! (And if I want an adult beverage, I don't have to make sure I'm not at the Magic Kingdom to enjoy it!)

Wow, 38 years!!!!!! :lovestruc That is SOOOO amazing... congratulations!!!!!!! :dance3:

Too funny about the 5 happy years and 43 years of :headache:. :rotfl:

-Kathy

Ya I did another goof on my numbers.:lmao: Probably feels like 43 to him.
I fixed it now.

He was just reading that in Mexico they now had marriage contracts that are for 5 years of marriage. So after 5 years your no longer married. You can renew your vows or go out and find a new mate without a divorce. Every mans dream marriage:rotfl2:

Here is a question of the night:

What excursions are everyone going on?

We have only reserved stingrays at CC and snorkel rental at CC. What's everyone doing on St. Martin/John/Thomas?

My DW didn't get to DW until she was in college as she lived in Ohio. I grew up in Miami, FL and Orlando so going to Disney World was a frequent event. I actually grew tired of it as I got older.

When our DD was two we got a deal for $99.00 4 day park hoppers so we decided to take her. She loved it and now she is for and it will be her 4th trip to WDW.

We have only cruised once and it was with Carnival in Hawaii around OCT. It was two weeks and it was mostly 60 - 80+ year olds. Nothing wrong with that but when the ship was filled with walkers. This affected the type of quality of the entertainment. It tool me 6 years to get my wife to try cruising again. My DD was a lot of help!

My DD loves everything Disney. She loves autographs, Minnie, and Princesses.:lovestruc:love:

What a wonderful present! I hope it gets to you in plenty of time. :)

Read the last 30 pages to catch up a little.

DS is installed at college. His former room has been excavated, repainted and DD10 (Trish) now has it.

All beginning of school stuff is caught up including getting Saxophone repaired twice.

Cruise documents have been received.

Mom (Dot) is calling every week about the the cruise.

DB (Jim) is finally shopping for a jacket for formal/ semiformal nights.

Me and DD were supposed to go on a RCI cruise Aug 22- but would have been coming back into PC on the worst day of Irene. So we didn't go. Cruise went fine for those who did go but a bit rough coming back to port and flights would have been a mess.
Anyway this will be our first cruise ever!

I am most looking forward to eating out because we almost never eat out, to ordering room service because we never order room service. To having time with DD and time without when she can be with other kids. (She is an only child now that DS is off at college.) To not having to drive to eat out or go to a movie.

Still need an FE and FE gifts. Hummm....

Felicia

Got my FE gifts today. Some pencils with the date and some chocolate candy that is an owl with a graduation cap on it :)

St. Maartin we are just exploring on our own. We like to take the water taxi to the shopping area to browse around.
We were going to do the Mountain hike there but decided to cancel that.

St. Thomas we are going to St. Johns for the Island tour in the morning, then do some shopping at Havensite mall in the afternoon.

Castaway Cay we always play by ear. We always rent bikes and ride all around the island and go up the observation tower. If its hot enough snorkeling is an option Greg and Peter may do.
If we sit on the beach its not for long. We like to go to the Grouper game room too. Explore the main store there and the little booths the islanders have set up for souvenirs.
By 2 p.m. many have returned to the ship for some reason:confused3 The slide there and beaches are not crowded at all, so then is a great time to swim and do the twin slides there.

St. Maarten we are doing the Under 2 Flags tour and in St. Thomas we are doing the best of St. John Island tour. We didn't book anything at CC.
