November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Hi everyone,

Well, it feels like summer has returned with a vengeance! Oh my goodness, it's suddenly SO hot today (well, hot for us). It got up to 85 degrees outside, and tomorrow it's supposed to be 90! :confused3 So unusual for this time of year. Not that I'm complaining because we always welcome the sun here in Seattle, but this is just crazy hot, especially when it has been more "fallish" weather the past couple of weeks, so everyone here has started to mentally get ready for our fall and then long winter... and then out of now where... heat and sun!

Ironically, just a couple days ago, we put or portable AC unit back down in our garage until next summer. Now, I wish we would have kept it set up in our house! But, it's too big of a hassle to bring it back upstairs and set it up again. The weather says it's supposed to be back to cool temps and rain by Monday.

What is the weather like where everyone else lives???

Well, Eric (DH), as I type, is flying from India to China. He should land in Beijing in a few hours. That means only one 8 more days until he gets home! And, then this is his last business trip for this year! The next trip he's going on is our Nov 5-12 Eastern Caribbearn Disney Cruise :dance3:!!!

So, that is my update... today was my typical busy day, but nothing out of the ordinary.

TGIF!!!! Okay so quick picture and story:
This is Charlie, my new boyfriend
IMG_2049.jpg

He is a Victorian Crowned Pigeon (Disney also has some on the jungle trek). He is the newest addition to the area i work at the zoo. Apparently I am super good looking, because the whole time i was cleaning his exhibit he followed me around preforming a mating call. And he does not do this for everyone, he has been there two weeks and this was the first time. It is always nice to know when you are still attractive. :rotfl2:

:lmao: :lmao: HILAROUS!!!! :)

We should have a new category for our "most likely" voting: "Most Likely to get hit on by a mating call from a Caribbean Tropical Bird." :rotfl2: Gee... I wonder who'd win that one?? :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Kathy (gma) Great pictures from the wedding!!! Your daughter-in-laws wedding dress was really pretty! They look like a very happy couple. :) :)

Take care, everyone!
Kathy

Kathy,

we were 89 today and will be tomorrow, then Sunday the showers will come for 3 days, then back to the low 80's. We are close to your forecast accept we didnt cool down the last few days like you did.

Once the rain starts it seems like it doesnt stop for months and months. I hate that. Of course we usually vacation in the winter months to give us a nice break. :upsidedow

St. Johns bay where the ferry docks. Plus this is where the Atlantic and Caribbean Sea meet. We took this photo on the Eco hike excursion there.
It was a great excursion.

Those pictures are sooooo pretty!! Oh, I can't wait to be there!!! ;) You have so many great pictures... oh and I loved the pictures earlier of the "rough seas" and then the "calm seas". :) Your rough seas picture looks just like the rough seas picture I posted a while back! You just can't really capture the roughness on film --- of course, who uses film anymore? But, I guess now to say "capture on film" is more of a figure of speech now that we are in this digital age! :)

Isn't it where the Atlantic and the Caribbean sea meet? The Atlantic and the Pacific meet at the Panama Canal -- well, they don't "meet" there but they are separated by the Panama Canal. (They also meet at Cape Horn off of South America). Speaking of Cape Horn, my parents did a cruise (with Princess Cruises) around Cape Horn and they absolutely loved it. Boy, it'd be SO awesome if Disney did that one day! I'd be the first one to book... but I'm sure it's doubtful. Anyway, just a tanget little comment. :)

But, back to the topic, the picture of St. John's is SO pretty.... I'm SO ready to go on this cruise!!!!

Boy, do I ever hear you on that one!!! Same here... once the rain starts (usually it REALLY starts the middle-end of October...) then it seems like it never ends! Eric & I have joked about how we should build an Arc every winter because it seems like it does rain straight for 40 days and 40 nights! :)

Well, for that reason, even though it's SO hot this weekend, we are enjoying it to the fullest.

Although, Seattle-ites are funny... people here complain when it's rainy and overcast and say they want the sun. But, then when we get sun, it's hot, and then they complain it's too hot. Then, it'll cool down, but not be raining, but just cooler, and then they'll say it's too cold! I tell you... nobody here is ever satisfied. :confused3 :rotfl:

It's really funny to me. :)

Kathy

Kathy,
it's the same here. My MIL and I e-mail everyday and always tease each other because we will gripe it's too cold and we cant wait for it to be hot so we can complain about it being too hot.:lmao: Never satisfied.

I like 75 with a very light breeze. Thats perfect, but mother nature just doesnt listen to me.:confused3

Happy saturday everyone,

Today I will get the time to check out what went wrong with my printing of door signs. I was too tired last night to mess with it.

My big weekend is to do laundry and get some groceries.:goodvibes
Tomorrow we have the rain coming for a few days. I am dreading that.

Hope everyones saturday is off to a good start.
Back later,

Kathy

I just sent our revised lists to everyone this morning, so if i missed anyone please let me know.:thumbsup2

There are a few changes on it, so please read it when you get the time,

Thanks,

Kathy

It's lunch time so I thought I would stop by and see if anybody was here, but its only me.:confused3

I did get my printer figured out and now it is printing great.
Now i discovered I accidentally bought matte style magnetic paper so the colors look aweful!!
I always use glossy.
So when I go to the store tomorrow I will buy glossy magnetic paper so I can finally get my door signs done.

Now I am trying to decide what pictures to put on the shirt i am making.
I will probably use some characters. That usually comes out good enough.

Hope everyone is having a good saturday.
I will check back around my dinner time.

Kathy

It's aggravating to not have the right paper, Kathy (Gma). I'm working on something and have old inkjet paper but my printer is a laser. Now I'm trying to use family members printers and they don't have the same software as me! Yuck.

It's a little lonely out on the boards today, so thought I would add one for ya Kathy (Gma). :rotfl2:

I haven't posted this week because we've been busy with our pastor's sudden death. He was only 52 and left a wife and 3 children of the home, please pray for them, if you will. :littleangel:

Oh wow!!! I'm so sorry to hear this! I will for sure pray for them. I can't imagine what his wife and kids must be going through. This happened to a good friend of ours earlier this year... he suddenly died of heart failure at age 39 and left 4 kids all under the age of 9 and a wife. So hard.... still is hard, but his wife and kids have a great support system and family around them.

Well, things are busy today, but with DH out of town, I expected that for a Saturday. :) The kids and I ran some errands, and I went to try to get their hair cut, and ended up not being able to get in because the wait was too long (it is a walk-in place.... gives cheap kid's hair cuts. :) ). So, I'll try again later.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday.

LTR Kathy: Thanks! It's amazing how you can share a story and find someone else in a similar situation. Kind of helps knowing others survive different things. I was real hesitant to post because this a fun thing but I decided to because I feel that the more prayers sent up will help them.

Gma Kathy: Thanks for the group list. That's a lot of work. :thumbsup2

The weather here in NC is rainy too. We don't have to many days of rain, day after day, but are in the midst of that now. Making some homemade chicken noodle soup, to fit the mood!

How sad! A friend who lost her husband once told me it's something you can get through but never over.

Yah, that is amazing! Actually, last year was rough for us because we suddenly lost 3 friends (1 a motorcycle accident, 1 bicycle accident, then our friend with heart failure), and then we lost my DH's cousin we were close to who was only 33, but he was very sick, so it wasn't "sudden" like an accident, but at least we had time to say goodbye to him. So, it has been a rough year of dealing with people close to use we have lost, and then being a support to their families. But, we just continue to pray for all of the families left behind, and give the support and love that we can.

But, I'm so sorry again about your pastor. The 3 friends we lost suddenly went to our church, so we felt like they were family to us.

But, this is one reason we are SOOOOO excited about this cruise!!! Something just SO fun to look forward to!! :) :)

Just watched the Magic pull out of port on the web cam:thumbsup2

Yay!!!!!! On November 5th, ALL OF US and our families will be on that ship and people on land will be watching us leave via the web cam!! I can't wait. :)

Thanks, Kathy!!! I got the list in my inbox! So, I think I counted 18 families/cabins doing FE's, is that correct??

Is there going to be a point where we are going to close the FE list, or is the FE list open for people to join right up until we leave? Just wondering how people plan for how many FE gifts to bring, or do you bring extra in case people join last minute? This is my first FE participation, so I don't know how this part works (how long people can join, etc). I just say that because there are a couple cabins on the list who have ?'s next to FE's, so should we bring gifts for those cabins in case they decide to join last minute, or is there a deadline?

Also, I noticed this cabin number has an extra number in it:

rob_jen FE:Yes
Cabin #10616

Or, is that a real cabin number?? Or, is that the cabin number for a life boat (a very cheap room...category 17A?? :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:). Sorry, just had to add that humor!

Thanks, Kathy, for being the organizer of the FE's and cruise meets!!! You are the best!! :)

Now, I just need to get cracking on my FE!!!! I still don't have one... I am going to attempt to make one, but just haven't had time to do it yet. I'll get it done! :)

Will everyone with rain send some to Dallas? We need it desperately!

Its nice to hear that i will have lots of great neighbors!!! I am very excited about our room, i have never stayed in one with a verandah before.
Hi Alyssa!!:yay: Neighbors on board, and by a stretch, we could say Houston and Dallas are neighbors (kind of, but not really, but work with me on this, please!) You'll love the verandah! The best thing Disney ever did was upgrade us on my Mom's first cruise. We've not been able to book anything else since!

Kathy, sorry, but I didn't see that I got one. Would you mind resending?

We started on FEs today. We've decided on a plan and bought enough stuff to make a sample and make sure it is going to work the way we hope it will.

We're off to have dinner with my brother's family tonight! Have a great evening!

Thanks for the updated FE and kids lists Kathy. We're excited and have started our official countdown. I spoke with my Aunt in Orlando yesterday and she's all set for us to come stay for the 2 days before the cruise. DS asked to go to Magic Kingdom today. He thinks we can just hop on a plane and get there. He wants to ride the Speedway Racer. DH took him to see The Lion King in 3D. He said it was kind of not worth it. I went shopping and for a massage. I don't often get to do girly things by myself.

We made homemade pizzas for dinner and minestrone soup. My boys are good eaters especially when we cook Italian food. DH has been looking at several posts of the food on the cruise and I think he's secretly been longing for a Mickey ice cream bar.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

Take care,

Karen
