November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

I would like to make autograph books for my kids. Does anyone know which characters are on the ship? I would only want to put in pages for ones they could see onboard. I love having you all to ask all these questions! :grouphug:
Thanks,
Michele

I had a cool experience this morning,
Literally cool, it was 40 degrees outside. A man came to a field next to where i live to release 200+ homing pigeons to fly back to Red Bluff California from Oakland Oregon. So I walked over to watch and even got 2 photos which I will share later after I get them down loaded.
I am NOT a pigeon fan but it was a different experience to see them get released all at once.

I wont be posting tonight unless its really late because my sons wedding is at 7 P.M. but hopefully I will get to post one time this evening before going.

Hope everyone has a great saturday.

6 weeks from today we will be heading to Florida for a week at WDW, then on to the cruise:woohoo::woohoo:

Be sure and watch the Magic pull out on the port canaveral web cam at 5:00 P.M. Eastern time today. Soon it will be us pulling out on the ship and others will be watching us pull out!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Kathy

Good morning, All! Hope you all have a good weekend planned.... we know Kathy (gma), is at her son's wedding today .
For us, we are going to our my very very dear friend's son's 2nd birthday party, :bday:. She one of those people who is a great friend, but really, she is family, like my sister. I met her my 2nd day of my freshman year in college back in the fall of 1990! I knew nobody at the university I went to, and she was also a brand new freshman, and we just hit it off. We've been super close friends ever since. She now has two boys. Her oldest is almost 12, and her second is now just turning 2 years old (yes, a big gap!). Anyway, she is now a single mom, and for her 2 year old, I with her in the delivery room (I drove her to the hospital when "it was time"), and was right by her side when he was born. It was so special! So, I've had a special bond with her baby (now 2 years old).

So, that is what we're doing today... celebrating his 2nd birthday! :)

Now, about Signed Pillow Cases:
Reading this post I copied here about all the characters on the ship totally reminded me about the signed pillow cases! The new people to cruising may not know this. If you bring a plain white pillow case with you, along with permanent markers (like Sharpies, or fabric markers), and drop them off at Guest Services (in a bag...I just used a gallon size ziploc bag) at the beginning of the cruise, they will take your pillow case and have all of the characters sign it!!! It's SOOOOO cool! Then, sometime toward the end of your cruise, your pillow case (and the markers you sent) will appear in your stateroom completely signed!! It's so cool! I dropped off two pillow cases on our last cruise because I wanted to get one signed for a friend of mine as a gift, and they did both.

So, if you want a pillow case signed by all the Disney Characters on the ship, bring a plain white one on the ship with markers and you can get it signed. I'll take a picture of mine sometime this weekend and post it here, so you can see what it looks like.

I also read on the main DIS boards that some people also bring a white photo mat for a picture frame, and drop that off at Guest Services, and have all the Disney Characters sign that, and then you can put your favorite photo from your cruise in that picture frame and have a photo mat with all the character's signatures all around the mat on the frame. I haven't done that because it jsut sounds like too much hassle to get a mat (like an 8X10) to and from the cruise from Seattle without bending it. So, I haven't done that.

So, that siad, I looked on the pillow case, and here are some other names on the pillow case that aren't on Kathy's list below:

Morning all,

Michele,
here are the characters I have seen.
Mickey
Minnie
Goofy
Max
Pluto
Chip n Dale
Donald Duck
Daisy Duck
Peter Pan

Also:

Lilo
Stitch
Princess Liana (or maybe it's Liona)
Ariel

This is not on my pillow case, but I also remember seeing the Green Army Guy from Toy Story. But, that was on the Wonder, and on the Wonder they do the Toy Story musical, so maybe the Green Army Guy is not on the Magic since they don't do Toy Story on that ship.

Ok, gotta run.... talk to you all later!
Kathy

Kathy,
Thanks for remember Lilo and Stitch and Ariel, I knew I had missed a few.

I have 2 pillow cases and they are AWESOME!!

Usually they ask if you want everyone, just princesses, or the Fab 5 as they call them.

I may do that again,it might be a nice gift for my new grand baby when she is born on January.

Remember everyone to
THINK OF A POSSIBLE NAME FOR OUR GROUP!!

We need suggestions.

I am terrible at names but I have been asked to try to list a couple to get people thingking,

Plutos Pals
Mickeys Maniacs
Goofys gang
Chip N Dales Nutty Cruisers
Minnie's Magical Cruisers

Now I know you guys can do way better than those, so lets see soem ideas beign posted!!
Thanks,

Ok, now I am off to the wedding,

Kathy

My DW and our DF (retired home EC) bought 3 totes plain White Canvas Totes. They are going to print on to photo fabric and sew it on to the Canvas bags. Also the got my DD a Minnie Cooking Apron that she wants to get Minnie to sign for Christmas in secret. DD loves to cook at 4, hopefully she keeps that up! We have two staterooms so hopefully we can submit 4 items. We may get Minnie to sign it at DW before the cruise in Secret. :rotfl:

I think they just spent $100.00 on a FE... :scared1: I really don't know but the Home EC teacher is enjoying it, and Toree is learning to sew...

Thanks ladies! Phew, Ariel is DD's fave, I'm glad she is there. Is the new princess rapunzel maybe?

Tiana is the new princess on the cruises. I am not sure if Rapunzel is on there as well, but I have seen many photos this year of Tiana. "Princess and the Frog"

I guess "Officially" Rapunzel isn't one of the Disney Princesses according to "Inside the Magic". http://www.**************.net/2011/06/rapunzel-to-officially-become-10th-disney-princess-in-london-ceremony-will-wear-stolen-tiara-in-theme-parks/

She will welcomed as a Disney Princess on OCT 2, 2011. Hopefully for our DD they will still being doing the welcome parade like they did for Tiana when we get there in NOV. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxP2aTBxDiw. Though officially it is England, I am hoping for a parade at WDW. Maybe she will go on a cruise in celebration!

Hi Kathy,

How was the wedding???!!! I bet wonderful! Congrats again to your son and new daughter-in-law!

Ok, I am not very creative, but here are some names I thought of:

Disney Magic Mates
Magical Mates of the Caribbean
Pirate's Booty Mates () ok, sorry...just could NOT resist that one. :lmao:

This is all I can think of now, but it is late and my brain is half asleep. I will post more suggestions if I think of any.

Take care,
Kathy

Hello everyone,
I am exhausted today but the wedding went off perfectly.

It was so nice and casual, just like the bride and grooms personalities.
I will post photos this week.
Will just tell you a couple cute things that happened.

They had a Hill billy wedding cake for their wedding. The decorated tiered cake will be at the reception next saturday.
For those who arnt country folk like us, you probably have never heard of a hillbilly wedding cake. I assure you it is real.

You make a layer across the cake plate of hostess twinkies, then using wooded skewers you stick together layers of Suzy Q's, ding dongs, zingers, yellow and chocolate cupcakes and you stack as high as the weight will support them. They added a few small frosting red rose buds to finish it off.
Then on top were 2 tiny statues of black labs. One with a black ribbon and the other with a white lace ribbon.

Those represented their 2 labs, Lefty and Poncho, who were the ring bearers. Their dogs had the identical ribbons on with the rings attached.
They followed my son to the gazebo for the ceremony and then laid down until the rings were needed.

Once during the ceremony Lefty let out a huge burp and everyone laughed including the minister.:rotfl2:

Also my son never proposed to Belinda. They just talked about getting married and it went from there.
She always teased him about that. He told her since he didnt proposed then he could sneak out and not break his word:lmao:

So just as the ceremony was about to start the minister paused and Randy proposed. She was so surprized (already so nervous) she put her hand on her hip and said rather loudly , Now you ask me!!! Then she turned to the guests and told them he had not proposed yet.
Then she waited for the minister to start and he didnt.:confused3
I told her, Belinda you didnt say YES!!
Oh, I didnt answer. Yes I will marry you. Then the ceremony began.

Randy had set this up with the Minister ahead of time to pause and then wait if she didnt answer him.
She was just so excited and nervous she wasnt thinking clearly.

We arrived about 90 minutes prior to the ceremony because they were servimg food for their guests and time to meet her family. When we arrived the bride was in a simple house dress and bare foot running around asking if different things were done. Just panic mode. Her sisters told her to relax and sit down but she was just to psyched up to do that. Eventually they got her back to get dressed.

My son was no where ot be found. He had gone to the store for something but I told her he was headed to Mexico!! Just being helpful:lmao:
I wont bore you with other things but I thought you might like to heard the few things that were not typical for a wedding.

I am exhausted, will post photos soon,

Kathy

Gma Kathy: Thanks for sharing about your son's wedding. I enjoyed reading it as I am such as romantic. Can't wait to see pictures. :lovestruc

Can't believe the lack of posts today, on my part too. I've been refreshing all day to see if anyone was posting. I learn so much from the boards.

Fall is here in NC, and I hate it. I love hot weather. I just told DH, I don't know why we live here instead of Florida! The only good thing about the change of seasons: it's closer to the cruise!

Kathy (LovesToRun): I actually like the Pirate Booty's Mates! :lmao: I'm not even good at naming pets, so I can't think of anything!

Question to anyone: Does DCL hand out Hawaiian leis for any reason? I'm thinking I read somewhere where they hand you one as you board the ship.

Talk to you all soon,
Kristi

Several years ago before they had the Pirate Party they had a Tropical party and at dinner they gave everyone a plastic Lei. I have 3 or 4 of them from those cruises but they stopped doing that when they started the pirate party.
Unless it just started recently.

Kathy

Thanks Gma Kathy!

I have another question that just came up from reading the boards. Since we are 1st time DCL cruisers, I am wondering what we can expect to purchase in the gift shop. Last year at WDW we bought plastic Mickey Mouse shaped ice cubes for our kids to give to their classmates. Well, one of my DD's classmates (who wasn't in her class last year and didn't receive one) asked her to bring some back from the cruise. We don't necessarily have to get those, but something similar in price. I think we paid a total of about $3 or $4 dollars to give each child in their class 2 or 3 ice cubes.

:rotfl: Sounds like yours sons wedding would make a good TV show!!

Kathy thanks for sharing about your sons wedding, it sounds like you all had a blast!

Kristi, I have never seen them hand out leis, just bandana's for pirate night.

We went to get DD's passport yesterday. Things didn't go according to plan, first i forgot to take her SSN with me. I figured she already had a passport, and i had that plus her birth certificate with me, nope need SSN. So we called my FIL and asked him for it, no problem he gave it to us. So paperwork got done, pictures got taken $115 later we are all set, or so i thought! Later that evening my stepson was over and he asked why we needed his SSN from grandpop?? Turns out that my FIL had given us my stepsons SSN, which we then put on DD passport app:scared1:

So now i have no idea what to do, i am going to try and call the place where we did the application tomorrow morning, but i am sure it already went out in the mail, oh this is not good:scared1:

If you went to get the passport yesterday (Saturday), the mail shouldn't have ran today so you should be able to call and get that straightened out. I wish you luck doing that! We had a minor fiasco in May when we got our kids 1st passport, so I know that feeling. I just can't imagine the feeling this close. Hopefully you will get it taken care of tomorrow. Good luck!

Disney usually is high priced but I can think of a couple things they use to have, can't promise they still have them.
A Mickey shaped (head only) egg ring which i use for cookie cutting, Disney themed pencil, not sure on the price but they use ot have a small individual jello mold with a Mickey or Minnie face on it when you unmolded it. I think they had goldcoins which were chocolates with characters on the foil wrappers.

Thats all I can think of right now,
Kathy

Gma Kathy, sounds like a great wedding day! Can't wait to see the pictures.
Hope the passport problem gets worked out tomorrow and the application is still sitting in the office and can be corrected. If not, I'm sure something like this has happened before and they'll know what to do. We haven't been on a Disney cruise since 1998, Kristi, but I'm sure they'll have little things for the kids in the shops-it seems all the gift shops at WDW have a wide range of items. We have a student that helps us in the library every day and I was thinking I'd like to bring her a little souvenir-so I'll probably be checking out those things myself!
Have a good evening, everyone and here we are one day closer to our cruise. :)

Sandy

Thanks for all the replies to my questions about merchandise and the leis.

I have enough leis for everyone in the group (to wear on pirate night or otherwise). So I was just asking the family to come up with a group name using leis and DH came up with Castaleis (using Castaway and Leis). What do you all think about that as a group name? I won't be offended if disliked, especially since it wasn't my idea to begin with. :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear from you all!!!;)

If they catch it, they will let you fix it I am sure! The SSN is purely for cross referenceand verify Identity. It isn't on the passport. I would still try in the morning, but I'll bet it leaves before the post office open. Most post offices sort mail starting at like 4am. If it has call the Passport Processing center at 1-877-487-2778. The will be able to tell you what to do, I'm sure it has happened before.

If something goes wrong and delays too long according to their site travel.state.gov Children are not required to have passport for what is called a closed loop cruise (start and end at same port) and don't leave Western Hemisphere. You can use a birth certificate. I felt better with a passport for my DD, which is probably why your getting one.

OH NO!! Hope you can get it worked out!

We also had an issue when we went to apply for passports, they wouldn't accept my DH's birth certifiate, he had to get the long form one. They had just changed that rule the week before. He was mad that I had procrastinated and kept pushing it off. Oops.

Gma Kathy, Sounds like your son's wedding was perfect :) Can't wait to see pictures! I have to admit I had never heard of a hillbilly cake, that's a riot!

LTR Kathy, Hope the bake sale was a success! That sounds like a lot of fun for a BTS event. I make those type of cookie pops but use M&M cookies. I will be making them next weekend for Isabella to take to school for her bday.

As for names, I am not creative like that at all. But I like the Castaleis :)

Thanks for the reminder about the pillow cases! While we were back to school shopping I kept thinking that there was a reason I needed colorful sharpies, but couldn't remember why. Darn it! They were so cheap!

I finally came up with an idea for the FE gifts! Such a relief. We've made three so far, lots to go..:rotfl: I think I'm just going to use a christmas stocking for the FE, we have one with a Winnie the Pooh head on it that would be cute I think ?:santa:
