November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

I forgot to say,
If you want to order items that are personalized for the cruise, like pencils with the name of the ship or date of the cruise, Oriental Trading is the lowest price I know about. They have a web site. Just their name and a .com at the end.

Ok, I guess you ladies may find this hard to believe but i have NEVER watched any reality shows on TV.

I do watch cooking shows alot. I watch Psych, NCIS, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, and my real favorite is old bugs bunny and friends cartoons.:lmao:
I like Disney cartoons too, especially Humphrey the bear fueding with Donald Duck.:rotfl2:

Good night everyone,
Kathy

Thats ok Kathy we have time to convert you to a reality show addict:rotfl: I like "The Amazing Race" as they travel the world, so i get to see places that i may want to go to when i win the lottery:goodvibes

We turned "survivor" in to our Friday family night show. We record it every week and then Friday night we make pizza and sit and watch it, kids look forward to it.

I also love Tom & Jerry, but my kids don't appreciate it:confused3

My DD is addicted to cooking shows and anything on the Animal Plant!!

Happy Wednesday everyone:)

Yes! My DD11 has the worst-of-the-worst peanut allergy. We're asking everyone on the FE list not give our cabin any food for this reason.

You are SO awesome for thinking of this and asking. :worship:

Carolyn

We have DD's the same age! Is she going to go to tween club "The Edge" onboard?
Claire

I think she actually likes the first day more. She is so excited to start school and she loves posing for pics. The last day she never looks as nice and I can usually only get one or two shots.

She started 2nd grade, but is still only 6! Her bday is on the 25th, our cut off is Oct 1st here. So she pretty much the youngest but she is so big that she fits right in. I couldn't imagine if she was just starting 1st grade, she would be a giant compared to the other kids. She's been wearing glasses for 2.5 yrs now, she used to have to patch one eye too. But she plateaued so we stopped. She has always picked the cutest glasses available :)

Oh no! Were you in that mess?! Did you have damage? All that rain was so awful :( We were OK (through both storms), thank goodness our sump pumps were able to keep up with it all . But if we had lost power, we would have been in big trouble(plus we just had our house resided and had no gutters) .

As for America's Got Talent, Isabella loves it. We haven't watched last weeks yet, but will catch up this week. There have been some really good acts, but then some that I was thinking "HUH? that's a talent?" But there is so little family oriented programing that I've stuck with it for Isabella.

I also watch Big Brother, but it always loses me at the very end when there are so few people left. I'll watch the finale though.

I think Amazing Race will be starting soon, that's one of mine & Isabella's favorites. :thumbsup2

Emma is in the same situation as Isabella and Ryan, she turned 11 on Sept 5, so she is in 6th grade, but a lot of her friends are already turning 12, so Emma is one of the youngest. Thankfully she had a growth spurt over the summer and is not one of the smallest:yay:

Alright, another question for FE gifts. Since I want to be safe and avoid food all together what are some good ideas?

On one of our cruises, we received scented hand sanitizer. DD11 has been careful with it and STILL has some! (The cruise was Oct. 2010)

We also received bottled water with custom labels (made on a computer). We thought this was an awesome idea!

Post-it notes are great for using during the cruise to leave cabin mates notes.

HTH!

Most definitely! She was bumped up to the Edge in May just a month before her 11th birthday because she was disappointed with the young ages in the Lab. I think it may have been an anomaly to our cruise, but I don't think there was anyone in the Lab over the age of 8.

PM me and maybe we can get the girls chatting. Do you have more than 1 child? DD11 is my only one and I would LOVE her to have a friend to hang out with, especially since the Edge is a check-yourself-in-and-out kind of place.

Psych is my all time favorite show. Burn Notice is a close second. I hate Reality TV shows unless they are cooking shows !!!

Thanks for the FE gift ideas.

At least I am not alone in my TV show likes. I can't wait for the new season of Psych to start in October:woohoo:

One place to get more ideas for FE gifts is to go to a party store and look at the bags of party favors. Sometimes they have unusual fun things and since they usually come 12 or more to a package they can be quite reasonable in price.

Happy Wednesday fellow cruisers,

Anybody want to name our cruise group? Many threads give their group a name. Just makes it a bit more fun.
I have been a Bananahead and Ahoy St. Croix plus a couple others.
Think about it and post your suggestions for names (if your interested) then we can vote on it.

Those of you with younger kids be thankful we havnt cruised together before. I say that because we have a group of great cruisers )(The Bananaheads) that we have cruised with a few times and play jokes on each other since we now know each other pretty well.
That year for FE gifts we gave all the younger kids all kinds of noise makers for their FE gifts.
Of course the kids wanted to play with them in the cabin. It was great hearing the parents saying Ok who was the wise guys who gave noise makers to the kids, I really want to thank you in person LOL!!
Of course we never confessed to it, but I think people were suspicious.:rotfl2:

I promise NO noise makers this year. I only do crazy things to people i know pretty well. So your all safe, unless we crusie together again some day, then look out;)

Ok back on subject,
let me know what everyone thinks about naming our group.

Kathy

Good Morning,

No allergies for my cabin or my sister darcie's cabin.
Love reality shows, can't wait Big Brother is on tonight. I have never heard of Psych before I will have to goggle it...

I was thinking all day yesterday about the FE gift I was collaborating with my friends yesterday on email... I want to give something Canadian... I have a few things in mind so I am going to work on it now time is ticking :)

Good morning, everyone!

So many posts already this morning! :cool1:

Kathy, we love the old Bugs Bunny & Road Runner cartoons.... my boys love them, too, which I'm glad because they still make me laugh. Growing up in Alaska, we only got 4 channels on the TV -- and the channels were all fuzzy and not even very clear, and the rest of the USA was just getting cable TV in their homes, but Alaska was wayyyyy behind the times! :lmao: I remember my cousin who lived in Oklahoma would tell me on the phone about all these channels she got, and I didn't even comprehend what she was saying! :lmao:

That said, Saturday morning cartoons, we were stuck with Bugs Bunny & Road Runner mostly, and to this day, I still love it! Oh, and also Tom & Jerry.... and our boys LOVE Tom & Jerry!! So, they watch that, too.

I'm not a huge reality show fan, except for just a couple: America's Got Talent (which I already said), and most seasons, I watch American Idol. :) But, I'm not really into any other reality TV show.

I will confess, my one and only guilty pleasure show I watch and have watched for 7 or so years now since the show has been on is Desperate Housewives! :rolleyes1 It's SO not anything like I would normally watch, but it's my one and only true guilty pleasure show I watch and love... it can be pretty trashy, though. haha.

other than that, we watch a lot of the History Channel, National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, etc.... not really any particular show we watch over and over again, but just loves the kind of TV that those channels have on.

Thanks for all the great ideas for the FE gifts!!! I laughed out loud :rotfl2: about the sound makers you give as jokes in the other cruise group! :lmao: Oh man, that is funny!! But, thank you in advanced for NOT giving us any sound makers! :lmao: :lmao:

I need to get cracking on my FE!! I still need to figure out an FE for our door!!! I know I have time, but have been so busy with the start of school that i haven't had a chance to figure out an FE. Next week, things should calm down, so I will start putting thought into our FE then.

Take care everyone,
Kathy

That reminded me of our Oct. 2010 cruise. There was a family from Scotland and they gave us all a small (think travel sized) bottle of Scotch. :thumbsup2

Just checking in. I need to keep posting to get my count up or I wont make my goal by cruise time. The rest of you ladies are doing great about attaining your goals.

Will check back this evening and hopefully have more posts to read and maybe a few more photos from people would be nice.:cool1:

Kathy

Busy Busy week for me. Seems like it has been on here too, not totally caught up on all the posting yet. Gma Kathy: DH and I will probably cruise on the Dream next time, since next year it will be based out of Galveston, which is all of 30 min from us. Hopefully any kinks will be worked out by then. 13 days tell i take the girls to disney! Thats what is keeping me so busy, the parents have only been one other time (and they barely did anything) so i'm running through everything they need to bring and what we should do. Temps are back up in 100's with no rain in sight, yuck. Will i'll try and catch up some more and post more tomorrow, back to work for me.

SLM -- Wow, flash flooding! Is that common for PA? How crazy, but glad things are under control now.

I would not worry about your luggage and the Hyatt MCO. SO many DCL cruisers stay at the Hyatt MCO, so transferring luggage from the Hyatt MCO to the ship is a routine thing they do every day there is a ship sailing. We've stayed at the Hyatt MCO twice before a cruise, and have never had a problem.... the first time, they took our luggage early in the morning, before we even left our room (I think they picked it up at like 7:30 AM). The second time, we left our room around 9 AM, and our luggage was still there, and I remember being nervous just leaving to get on the DCL bus wtih our luggage sitting in our room. But, I asked the front desk before we got on the DCL bus, and they had a list in front of them of all the rooms with DCL luggage needed to be picked up, and they showed me that we were on that list, and that they hadn't picked it up yet, but would. They just have to get the luggage to the ship by like 3 PM, so they don't store your luggage on the same DCL bus you take... they probably take it in some big luggage truck, but it will be in your statroom by 5 PM that night (or earlier). I would not worry, and I would take advanatage of the luggage service.... it's SOOO nice to not have to lug your luggage between the airport and port, and have it just magically show up in your stateroom! :)

-Kathy[/QUOTE]

Our little creeks and streams just overflowed with all the rain we've had since Irene-the ground was saturated and that didn't help. These problems usually occur farther north along some pretty big rivers. I
Thank you for your reassurance about the Hyatt luggage system. I know my husband will love letting someone else deal with the suitcases! If they haven't picked the luggage up when we leave, I will check at the desk. :) Sandy

Alright, another question for FE gifts. Since I want to be safe and avoid food all together what are some good ideas?

FYI,

I was running into Rite Aid today and was waiting in line and looked over at their junk toy \ season section and saw some disney stuff 75% off. Frisbees, Paddleball, stickers. The Frisbee was 50 cents. I was in a hurry but I saw some other stuff. May stop there this week. I know a good halloween costume store in Orlando that will have big sales the week I am there. I may run over and see what pirate stuff they have.

I did find a Pirate T-Shirt I thought was funny. I'll have to run in by my wife for approval. I douby it. It has a pirate crossbones the slogan "Share the Booty". Just don't know if DCL is the right atmosphere:rolleyes1 for the double meaning.

That is an awesome score:woohoo:
Got to love sales!

You just gave me an idea for Darcie :) thanks

Feel free to give us canadian whiskey! NC only famous drink is moonshine which all the pre-NASCAR drivers used to run away from the sheriffs, which eventually grew into NASCAR. Now it is actually legal to brew and sell in certain parts of the state.

I had a question on St. Maarten. How far is Orient Beach from the cruise ship? How long does it take to get there and back via taxi? Anyone know?
