November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

I am going to cancel a Palo dinner reservation tonight! It is for Thursday (Day 6) at 7:30 pm. DH and I decided we'd be happy with just the brunch reservation.

I will cancel it tonight at 9:30 to give everyone a fair chance. Keep an eye out!!

Carolyn

P.S. Anyone cancelling a cabana reservation would be my HERO if they let me know about it too! :worship:

Danielle, I LOVE Isabella's first day of school picture!!! SO cute, and she looks so ready for school. :) What grade is she in again? I also love her glasses.... I wear contact lenses, but have glasses, and my glasses look just like hers! :)

:wave2: Hello, everyone! We were at the beach least weekend enjoying the beautiful weather. The days before we were deluged with rain here in PA-over 8 inches, flash flooding, schools closed a day. Glad that is behind us.
I've enjoyed catching up and seeing all the new pictures. Those little girls are adorable. I think it's so nice all the children will get a chance to meet-familiar faces at the clubs and the pools.
Kathy, (LovesToRun) we are also doing DCL transfers. It's just the two of us. We are staying at the Hyatt Friday night and plan on checking in with DCL desk early Saturday morning. I get the impression even if we have been given a time from checking in on-line, they will give us a time as well which could be earlier. Is that your understanding? Right now I'm worrying about letting the Hyatt get our bags to the cruiseline or take them ourselves. If our luggage didn't get onboard I would be suicidal!
And for the record, I think little or young boys in shorts are just fine. Especially with a warm weather destination. :)

SLM -- Wow, flash flooding! Is that common for PA? How crazy, but glad things are under control now.

I would not worry about your luggage and the Hyatt MCO. SO many DCL cruisers stay at the Hyatt MCO, so transferring luggage from the Hyatt MCO to the ship is a routine thing they do every day there is a ship sailing. We've stayed at the Hyatt MCO twice before a cruise, and have never had a problem.... the first time, they took our luggage early in the morning, before we even left our room (I think they picked it up at like 7:30 AM). The second time, we left our room around 9 AM, and our luggage was still there, and I remember being nervous just leaving to get on the DCL bus wtih our luggage sitting in our room. But, I asked the front desk before we got on the DCL bus, and they had a list in front of them of all the rooms with DCL luggage needed to be picked up, and they showed me that we were on that list, and that they hadn't picked it up yet, but would. They just have to get the luggage to the ship by like 3 PM, so they don't store your luggage on the same DCL bus you take... they probably take it in some big luggage truck, but it will be in your statroom by 5 PM that night (or earlier). I would not worry, and I would take advanatage of the luggage service.... it's SOOO nice to not have to lug your luggage between the airport and port, and have it just magically show up in your stateroom! :)

Oh boy those pics of the water make me nervous. I was never worried about getting seasick until we went to Key West several years ago and we rented a small boat and the sea was rough that day. ...... I will most likely bring something and take it as soon as we get on the boat, as a just in case, then see how the boat moves.

I completely swear by the patches! We've been on 2 DCL cruises and the 2nd one was on a very rocky Dream cruise. With the patch, I wasn't sick in the slightest. Just found it interesting how we couldn't walk a straight line and how things kept sliding around.

I did find out something interesting on that trip.... the patches last for 3 days and then you put on a new one. Since the cruise was only 3 days, I didn't bother replacing it. I should have! It took 2 days before I got my "land legs" and I was dizzy the whole time! So now I know to make sure I keep that patch on at least an extra 24 hours.

Good evening everyone,
WOW i post a few people who hadnt posted in a bit and 2 of them show up the same day:thumbsup2
Way to go Sandy and Carolyn:goodvibes Nice to hear from both of you.

We let DCL take our luggage at the Hyatt and had no problems at all. In fact we saw a trailer as we walked to the bus where they were loading peoples luggage. I even saw ours and it had only been 15 minutes since we had left the room.

Also one time when we went to WDW we let them get out luggage too. It arrived a few minutes after we did at our hotel. It was so nice not to have to lug it around.

We just kept the carry on with us.

We took a 14 Day Carnival cruise in '05. My DW put a patch on and kept them on. I don't think we needed it; as on one of the 5 days at sea was so calm there were no ripples on the water. It look like glass in every direction. Beautiful but eerie.

Anyways she loved the patch but thought they made her feel weird and she is blue eyed but her eyes were black in ever picture and her pupils were dilated everyday!:cool2: Sun glasses were a must!

While my daughter has no limitations I was wondering if any of the kids on the FE list had dietary limitations? Peanut Allergies, etc? I was ordering stuff and saw peanut butter and chocolate coins and it hit me that a child might have an allergy, so I thought I would ask!

Yes! My DD11 has the worst-of-the-worst peanut allergy. We're asking everyone on the FE list not give our cabin any food for this reason.

You are SO awesome for thinking of this and asking. :worship:

OMG! That is just freaky scary! I'm going to have to go through our pictures and see if mine are like that too!

:scared1:

We only have one allergy so far.

I did write it in large red letters on the FE list for Carolyns cabin. I even listed her first to draw attention to her.:thumbsup2

Kathy

No allergies here but thanks for asking. I didn't even think about it.

Also, I don't know if any of my family will be seasick. Can I buy the patches on board if I need them or should I pack them just in case?

I'm not sure about getting them on board. They are a prescription.

I see that now Kathy sorry, I was just looking for stuff and found something that looked cool but word peanut set off an alarm in my head. As my DD has a friend who is deathly allergic. I didn't look at the list that clearly yesterday. I just counted the kids to get an idea of how much to buy.

Danielle, great photo of Isabella.:goodvibes
My question is does she look happier on the first or last day of school.;)

My kids loved the last day better than the first day I think.

Kathy

I think she actually likes the first day more. She is so excited to start school and she loves posing for pics. The last day she never looks as nice and I can usually only get one or two shots.

Danielle, I LOVE Isabella's first day of school picture!!! SO cute, and she looks so ready for school. :) What grade is she in again? I also love her glasses.... I wear contact lenses, but have glasses, and my glasses look just like hers! :)

She started 2nd grade, but is still only 6! Her bday is on the 25th, our cut off is Oct 1st here. So she pretty much the youngest but she is so big that she fits right in. I couldn't imagine if she was just starting 1st grade, she would be a giant compared to the other kids. She's been wearing glasses for 2.5 yrs now, she used to have to patch one eye too. But she plateaued so we stopped. She has always picked the cutest glasses available :)

Oh no! Were you in that mess?! Did you have damage? All that rain was so awful :( We were OK (through both storms), thank goodness our sump pumps were able to keep up with it all . But if we had lost power, we would have been in big trouble(plus we just had our house resided and had no gutters) .

As for America's Got Talent, Isabella loves it. We haven't watched last weeks yet, but will catch up this week. There have been some really good acts, but then some that I was thinking "HUH? that's a talent?" But there is so little family oriented programing that I've stuck with it for Isabella.

I also watch Big Brother, but it always loses me at the very end when there are so few people left. I'll watch the finale though.

I think Amazing Race will be starting soon, that's one of mine & Isabella's favorites. :thumbsup2

Alright, another question for FE gifts. Since I want to be safe and avoid food all together what are some good ideas?

Also love "The Amazing Race" ok i confess, i am a reality show junky!!

When we were on the Magic last October, there was a Ventriloquist Kevin Johnson,he did a family show and an adult show. He was on America's Got Talant a few years ago, he was really funny!

Ryan (my youngest) is in the same boat (no pun intended :lmao:) as Isabella with age. The cut off here for school is September 1st, and his b-day is August 3. So, he is almost always the youngest in his class. He JUST turned 9 and is in 4th grade, and most of his classmates are almost 10 yrs old, or will be turning 10 during the school year. But, he fits very well with his grade in every way, which is why we chose to put him in kindergarten when we did, vs. holding him back a year where he'd be the oldest.

My oldest son, Tyler, has the opposite issue... he's so small for his age. But, the good thing he has going for him (just like Isabella) is his birthday is Nov 3, so because of that, he had to start kindergarten later than most of the kids in his class, so he is one of the oldest in his class, but he is the smallest (of boys and most of the girls). So, I'm glad his birthday was so close after the school cut off rather than mid-year, because any little advantage he has (size-wise) to be somewhat close to his grade is good. The good thing is that he doesn't seem to care... so that is good. I hope it stays that way, unless he hits a big growth spurt sometime soon!! But, the funny (and cute) thing is his best friend is one of the tallest kids in the 5th grade. :) So, when Tyler and his best friend are together (which is all the time), Tyler comes up to his best friend's chest. But, it's so cool becasue neither of them ever seem to care about their size, so that is good. His best friend's dad is 6'7", and his mom is 5'10", so no wonder he's so tall. :)

Kevin Johnson was on the Wonder for the Panama Canal cruise.... he was really good and very funny! We thought it was neat he had been on America's Got Talent. I don't think we were watching America's Got Talent when he was one it, because we didn't remember him. We only got into it a couple years ago.

Regaring the peanut allergies/food allergies, no food allergies of any kind for anyone in our family, but my mind is always on the radar of nuts/peanuts in any sort of food because Ryan's best friend is deathly allergic to peanuts, so I'm SO used to looking at every label because he comes over to our house a lot.

Alright, another question for FE gifts. Since I want to be safe and avoid food all together what are some good ideas?

Some things we have got in the past have been:

Disney book marke
Disney post cards
Disney coasters
Post it notes,
Candy
Gum,
crazy straws
pirate eye patches
Disney themed pens and pencils
Disney stickers
Disney crayons
Deck of cards
mini whistles
chinese finger traps
homemade mini cook book
mini home made photo album
home made CD of Disney themed songs or cruise related songs
Temporary tatoos of Disney characters

Pens or pencils that had the name of the ship and cruise date printed on them.

That should give you some ideas to get you thinking.;)
There is no right or wrong to what you choose.

Remember that you dont have to give the same item to everyone.
If you were thinking about a food item, you can give to all but the family with the allergies. For them something thats not edible. Easy as pie!;)

I forgot to say,
If you want to order items that are personalized for the cruise, like pencils with the name of the ship or date of the cruise, Oriental Trading is the lowest price I know about. They have a web site. Just their name and a .com at the end.

Ok, I guess you ladies may find this hard to believe but i have NEVER watched any reality shows on TV.

I do watch cooking shows alot. I watch Psych, NCIS, Burn Notice, Royal Pains, and my real favorite is old bugs bunny and friends cartoons.:lmao:
I like Disney cartoons too, especially Humphrey the bear fueding with Donald Duck.:rotfl2:

Good night everyone,
Kathy
