November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Ok what is High Tea? I have a brunch scheduled for me and DF for our wedding day, but I was thinking of having high tea on Day 2 at sea.

Also to answer some of your questions, I was told the schedule is
Day 1 - Casual
Day 2 - Formal
Day 3 - Casual
Day 4 - Pirate Night
Day 5 - Casual
Day 6 - Semi Formal

Because we booked a wedding, I wanted the ceremony to be on the formal night. Unfortunatly, they are not performing ceremony's at that time, so I was told it was going to be on Day 3. Don't quote me, but that is the info I got from my wedding coordinator.

OK, I think this is our tenth post.

Here is a practical question for y'all. We are currently booked in an inside stateroom, 11A or B I think. Depending on some bonus money and our general feeling of fiscal irresponsibility, we are considering upgrading. Q: Is this something best done when we get to the cruise or before, or does it make no difference?

Thanks!

OK, pictures! May or may not work.

What great pics of you and your family! I especially liked the one from 1974.:hippie:

Those are awesome photos!!
I agree the 1974 was extra special. Someday Pete will have his children there and can show another generation there:thumbsup2

Love Curly too.
I wish I could bring my Minnie and Pixie too. (named after Minnie mouse and Tinkerbells pixie dust)

I have often thought a cruise line would really be popular if they had a cruise where people could bring their dogs.:goodvibes I have actually thought about ways to make it work with all the different sizes and breeds of dogs.

They couldnt go off the ship, but a sea only cruise would be fun. I bet they would sell out every cruise:thumbsup2 Minnie would love it, But my Pixie would be scared to death. Poor baby is 95 pounds of chicken.:lmao:

I would do it now for better selction of categories.

I say that because lots of time the cruise line, IF it doesnt fill the ship will give free upgrades to people with GTY cabins to balconies to fill their more expensive rooms ( which havnt sold)so the inside rooms(less expensive) will be easier to sell to fill the ship.

I know people who have upgraded at the port but DCL didnt cut them any kind of deals or discounts.

What are the chances of a free upgrade? We chose our room number, so would that rule us out for any chances?

Also, I checked a week or so ago and there are only about 20 or so rooms left that are available for online booking. A few of those were the big suites too!

WOW great pictures GreensboroKG ... I will have to get there some day to see the castle it looks so beautiful, Meghan would love it.

What is High Tea...? Good question NC2WDW!

Kathy (momx4): no DH for me been a single mom for four years now, it is hard to miss the time off work when the kids are sick as I have no family by me to help out in these jams, my parents live two hours (by Niagara Falls) away and Darcie lives in Sweden. Hopefully no sickness before or during the cruise...

*which brings me to a question to everyone... Anyone get sea sick? Should I bring gravol adults and kids?
Tanya

Thanks for the compliments on the pics! We're starting to get revved up, Peter is now really into Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. You need to sell that dog-cruise idea, it will be a big hit!

Flygirl, getting out of Ontario and Sweden in November, I bet that will be a welcome change of temperature.

Til next time . . .

Usually free upgrades are Guarantee rooms only and not on every cruise. Just once in awhile.

The big suites are the most expensive so they often are the last to be booked unless there is a large family who cant get adjoining rooms. Then they have no choice to work for their their family.

Never done High tea so I can't help with that. If you post on the main forum some one will be able to explain it to you.

Never been sea sick. Kock on wood:lmao:
Usually the stabilizers on these newer ships are great. The first couple of hours we cross the currents and it is not rough but a little bumpy feeling.

One time on the Eastern in March we hit rough seas. But I was lucky and still never got ill, but many did. We had 35 foot waves and a 65 MPH cross wind. I rolled out of bed :lmao:
But it was fun to have the clubs all to ourselves. It was a live band and until the last song we were the only couple in there. So we had a private concert.:goodvibes

If your worried I would bring some meds. But remember that they don't do much good unless you start taking them before you get ill. You just start before you even get on the ship and continue until the cruise is over, for them to work right. If you take them after you are ill, they will work but take much longer to work.

Also the medical clinic on board hands out free sea sick pills if the seas are rough. I think it was Dramamine.
If you take something be sure and look for the non drowsey or you will be sleeping the entire cruise.

For severe sea sickness there is s hot they can give and it works immediately. Costs around $100.00.

Good night all,

Kathy

Good morning everyone,
I can't believe this work week is almost over already.:goodvibes

Anybody have plans this weekend?

I guess in some areas kids are back or will be back at school next week, so that limits the free time everyone has.
Kids dont start school here until the day after Labor day. Of course they dont get out until mid June.

We have dozens of county fairs happening right now. Ilike the small ones. Love rodeos too.

Well no cruising chat this morning so I am off to make out my grocery list.

will check back later today,

Kathy

Darcie (my sister is coming to Ontario on October 30 so her son can have Halloween with us... They don't have that in Sweden. Then we will stay at my parents on who live by Niagara falls and leave from Buffalo. We shouldn't have snow then and we will welcome the warm weather for sure!

This weekend Meghan is turing 6 so my parents are coming up tomorrow and she is having her birthday party with her friends Satruday at the dance studio. The rest of the weekend go to the Carrot festival (like you Kathy (momx4), love going to them.

I will check out what High Tea is...

Hello all. Just checking in. Been busy here.

Cant wait for the cruise. I wish it would get here than time stop for a month or so in the Caribbean.

yeah post 9, only one more. DH was very good and got his passport papers all signed and taken care of so he should be good to go! Also my FE is in the mail. I can't wait! Luckily i have a trip to WDW at the end of Sep to look forward to. I get to take my 2yr old charges to disney for the first time, and i get to fly first class and it won't cost me a dime. Sometimes i really love my job!

Alright post 10! Karen those were some fantastic pics! Makes me wish i had more of my old ones. My mom has been taking us to disney since she was pregnant with me, and we have been to all the Disney's except the one in hong kong (i WILL be going one day though). I agree we need the dog cruise, my poor pups will be very sad without us.
Does anyone know what the latest time you can add a person to your cabin is? I have been searching online and it seems pretty easy to add its just canceling that is so hard. My sister can't make a commitment until into Oct.
As for the weekend, the in-laws will be in town to help move my husband down close to school for his surgery rotation. We are getting good at this living apart thing, i think it makes the marriage better (j/k). Last time he had COT for the air-force in another state, at least this time i can visit!
