Questions for the week!

Do you plan on using a Disney Cruise Line specific guidebook (ie. Birnbaum ,Passporter, etc.) during your planning for this cruise?

Have you used any for planning of any of your previous Disney cruise(s)?

If you do not plan on using a guidebook, what websites do you plan on using for your planning for this cruise?

Questions for the week!

Do you plan on using a Disney Cruise Line specific guidebook (ie. Birnbaum ,Passporter, etc.) during your planning for this cruise? No, we like to get on the boat and see how things go, we are not a family (although I admit I had to learn this quality) that likes to plan every detail. My husband likes to just sleep on the deck chairs on deck 4 while I run

Have you used any for planning of any of your previous Disney cruise(s)? last 7 day cruise we used google to plan our vacation, did a lot of research on each of the islands and found some great deals on excursions Saved lots of money

If you do not plan on using a guidebook, what websites do you plan on using for your planning for this cruise? Luckily we have friends from San Juan who are going to help us plan a on our own guide of old San Juan, we are very unsure of what we will do in St. Thomas but google will be my friend when we start looking

Do you plan on using a Disney Cruise Line specific guidebook (ie. Birnbaum ,Passporter, etc.) during your planning for this cruise?

No, we've done the Eastern Caribbean three times previously and other than San Juan, plan on taking it easy on this cruise...it's more about the trip than the destination for us.

Have you used any for planning of any of your previous Disney cruise(s)?

Yes, we have used Passporter previously and found it to be very useful. I don't believe the current issue has anything on San Juan in it.

If you do not plan on using a guidebook, what websites do you plan on using for your planning for this cruise?

DCL for sure, and Google will be used! :)

I bought a Passporter prior to our first cruise in 2004 .Maybe I will buy a new one if they bring out a new one with the Fanzasy and San juan.
Other than that I use DCL,Goggle and the DIsboards for info and ideas.

Rosermama-if you develop a great plan for a Walking tour of San Juan, would you willing to share some tips or info, please?
We are planning on doing this and so far I found only one walking tour on a San Juann Website.

Just paid of our cruise before the exchange rate gets even worse(yeah).
Lots of Greetings from Germany
Conny

To Whayes-keep up the great work. I am trying to lose also, but for me it is keeping it off.:thumbsup2

For the queston of the week- we have used the Passporter in 2008, Dis boards, Allears, books and Disney site. For San Juan, the Sec. at work has been there twice on vacation and has given me some ideas. Would like to do the Forte with DD, but DH may do something else.:surfweb:

Thank God, the US Coast Guard will not let us leave port without a life boat drill.:woohoo::littleangel:

Certainly I would be more than happy to put share whatever information I gather up.

Here are a couple of websites I have found which offer tour guides as well, we can always try to get a group of us togther and have a private tour done

http://www.sunsettourpr.com/tours/

There was another website I found that had where we could customize a trip with a knowledgable tour guide as soon as I can find it I will post it.

I am not sure if we will do it on our own or on a tour yet, but I am willing to group up with some people.

And here is one just to get people started

Thanks for the links,very helpful.
The walking tour I found is on www.discoveringpuertorico.com
It´s in 2 parts and sounds interesting to me.They also mentioned a free trolley you could use.
We are definitly plannuíng on walking, did this in Nassau and Key West before and it turned out great.
But if Disney comes up with some great excursions?!?Who knows what we´ll decide.
Take care
Conny

I think that's a great idea. Although I don't have young children anymore, I do understand the need to protect them.

I'm available most nights for chat, but I go to bed quite early (9pm Eastern) because I have to get up at 4, so probably this won't work for most people.

I don't like to be on much later than 10, anyway, so I'm sure we can work it out for a little while, anyway. :)

Ok everyone we are 302 days away from the cruise WOW I can't wait and I have set a goal of losing 100 pounds before the cruise.

I just started P90X (its a killer) and I am on day 4 and I only made it half way through an hour and a half yoga video. Amazingly I can make it through an hour of arms yesterday and today not close.

So I am starting my countdown of weight to go along with my countdown till the cruise.

Is anyone else trying to lose weight before the cruise?

Good for you!!! I need to lose some weight, too. I just need to get my rear in gear!

Hello all!

My husband and I just moved our cruise back a bit from the old Wine and Dine 1/2 race dates to this cruise so we can do the race! Hopefully they don't change anything again because there is no way we can pay the "late booking" tax again!

Our cast is very small... just me, Shanna 29 and my husband Kyle, also 29! We will both be 30 by the time of the cruise though and it will be just after our first wedding anniversary so we can still say it counts as a celebration, right?! We will be in stateroom 6174 - even though we booked GTY we already got our #, probably because of the noise of docking no one wanted it... but hay, we are young, have earplugs and got a good price!

I admit I laughed my tush off when I saw the graphic on the first page, you are all awesome and I bet we will have a wonderful cruise!

We will both definitely be doing the 5K on CC - if for no other reason than staying limber for the 1/2 the night we disembark! Are there any other crazies here who think its a great idea?! :lmao:

I asked to join the facebook group as well! Cheers!

I'll make sure that your information is on the roll call.

??? Why did you laugh at the graphic? I'm confused.

I think I've approved everyone that has requested an invite to the FB group.

Sorry for the many posts this is what happens when you are on the computer for 3 1/2 hrs waiting and then watching the float out

Last one for awhile (which I only promise will be at least 15 mins)

Just some info on what's next for our new cruise ship

At approximately 5 am EST on Sunday, January 8, she will slowly be floated out of the building, into the harbor for a few tests.

Final touches on the ship’s construction, such as the installation of the mast, will be performed while she is berthed at the yard’s pier. Two weeks later, she is expected to be conveyed to the North Sea via the River Ems. She will then officially be delivered to Disney Cruise Line on February 9 in Bremerhaven.

From there, it’s a Transatlantic voyage in which her first stop is Pier 88 at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal in New York City (12th Ave. & 55th St.), where she is scheduled to be berthed from February 28 through March 2,

Awesome pictures!!!! THank you soooooo much!!!

THANK YOU DISNEY FOR BEING SO SAFE

The account of what happened in this story is amazing, as one passenger said it was like the Titanic.

http://news.yahoo.com/ship-aground-off-italy-3-bodies-found-69-134340580.html

I just have to say as much as we might not care to do the evacuation drill I thank god that Disney is so concerned about safety. Many times I see them tell kids to stop running in the halls and this and that...

The thought that they didn't even do a drill is horrible, for anyone who thinks twice about going on a cruise after this should if they go on a cruise that doesn't even do safety drills.

"No one counted us, neither in the life boats nor on land," said Ophelie Gondelle, 28, a French military officer from Marseille. She said there had been no evacuation drill since she boarded in Marseille, France on Jan. 8.

I use them to plan out some things, but not my excursions and such. I typically use the Unofficial Guide and Passporter.

I'm sure that they won't have an update that includes information about the Fantasy, so I'm not sure how much help it's going to be for me this time.

??? Why did you laugh at the graphic? I'm confused.

I hadn't noticed that we would be gone during the election, so cruisin' from the chaos just made me laugh, I dunno... :confused3 All the bickering and such seems much funnier when you aren't having to deal with/experience it! Luckily our state allows ballot by mail so we can send it in and silently slip away!

Questions for the week!

Do you plan on using a Disney Cruise Line specific guidebook (ie. Birnbaum ,Passporter, etc.) during your planning for this cruise?

No, since its a new ship I don't think much would be in there on her, plus I find I have more time to read snippets on the internet here and there than I am able to curl up with a book.

Have you used any for planning of any of your previous Disney cruise(s)?

I have not!

If you do not plan on using a guidebook, what websites do you plan on using for your planning for this cruise?

Google, wikipedia, DIS, people's blogs etc! :goodvibes

Ah! Luckily, we have 'early' voting for, like, 3 weeks before the election date. It's awesome. I can vote and then pack!

Nope... I rely primarily on any leaked navigators on here and DCL and google searches for the ports. I think I'm committed to using DCL excursions since we've got the kiddos. Been to St Thomas/St John before.

Have you used any for planning of any of your previous Disney cruise(s)?
Nope...just here

We are booking this cruise next month. We are staying in Disney 3 nights before sailing so we can do Food & Wine. It will be my, my DS who will be 8, my dd who will be 20 months, my mom, my dad, and possibly my mom's cousin. My family has never done a Disney cruise before so I'm determined to make it extra special for them. ;)
