November 3, 2007 - Western on the Magic

I'm a vendor at a scrapbook weekend AT the Contemporary (I'm SOOO excited!), then we are staying on a few days for some R&R.

Is that weekend open to the public? Or is it only for special vendors? If it's open to the public is it the same weekend every year? I'd like to hear any info you have...thanks

Opps!
Sorry about that I was trying to quote part of Graygables post...
Graygables I was just wondering if that was something anyone could go to or if you had to be a special vendor....We may be planning a trip to FL this time of year in 2008

I was hoping to get a reservation for Palo earlier in the week but we ended up getting friday night.
I'm not sure what excursions to sign up for.....We have a DS 10 and a DD 8. Has anyone been on the pirate encouter? That seems to be pretty popular.

Thanks for the info VeronicaWest. For the past three cruises, we let the TA book everything through Disney and we always had non-stop flights from Newark. This time there weren't any flights through Disney left, so our TA had to do it seperately. We are very fortunate that it worked out.

We are in Jersey and booked thru Disney, we ended up with a connecting flight. Not to happy about that but they said since everyone in NJ is going to FL it's difficult to get a non stop flight. I'm a little annoyed because I booked our cruise the first day they started taking res.

It's a Scrapper's Dream Vacation which is a weekend long, 24 hour a day crop. Very fun! Next year is going to be at the Yacht Club (8/21-8/24/08) You do have to be a paying guest to crop, but they don't have any problems with people coming to shop/browse. Last year, we had several CMs come through picking up scrappin' stuff! There are 700 seats (if you can imagine!).

I know what you mean with booking the trip so early. We booked our cruise May 2006, so you would think it would have been easier to book non-stop flights through Disney. At least now I feel better that the TA was being honest that it is difficult to get non-stop flights coming out of New Jersey. I appreciate your responding to my post.

Was anybody able to book parasailing at CC for this cruise? What with all the computer headache on Monday I missed out. Then I noticed a lot of dates have been cancelled. I was wondering if 11/9 was one of the cancellation dates or if anybody was able to book it.

I was able to book parasailing for this cruise when I made all of my reservations on 8/5. I haven't received anything saying that it was cancelled. I know they have had problems with the vendors in the past.
You can try once onboard, maybe somebody will cancel.

I probably won't be able to book it onboard either since I will be spending all my free time standing in the wait line to book Palo. :rotfl:

Four of us are parasailing at 10:30am. I have no indication of cancellation. I just checked the DCL website and the reservation is still there.

We are planning to go to the Studios for the day on Sat., 9/9. We haven't been there for a while and the kids are old enough and really want to ride the Rockin' Rollercoaster.

Has anyone been to the studios during Super Soap Weekend before? Is it going to be too crowded to enjoy, or will most of the crowd be busy with the Soap activities?

I'd love to hear from anyone who's been there...

LD

I also had a little trouble just after midnight logging in. I'm not sure if it was because I needed to log in as my dad (who booked the whole cruise for the 2 cabins for my families) or what but I finally made it and was able to book our 2 excursions - Dolphins in Cozumel and Parasailing in CC. We have 6 of us signed up for that at 11:30am but not sure if they'll let dad go and I'm still shaky about wanting to go so 2 slots might open up that day. Keep close lol. :sad2:

I was at SSW last year, but was there strictly for the soap stars, and didn't go on the rides. The crowds were massive, but from what I've heard most of the people were there to see the soap stars and not for the rides. The majority of the crowds were at the parade route and autograph signings. So, the ride lines probably will be okay, but entering the park, eating, and walking around will be crowded. I am planning on going there again, on Sat. after the cruise this year, for part of the day, but will split up with my husband and kids, so that he can take them to where they want.

We went for the rides, not the soap stars..... The lines for the rides were short, some walk on... Our main problem was the lines for the soap stars, sometimes they were hard to get around do to their lengths... to get to what you want. Most people are there to see the stars.

Okay, now I'm having to rethink my whole vacation. :confused3

Yep, I got the postcard in the mail offering me a great price on 5 nights, 6 days at WDW. Mr. iwbm is all for staying the extra 5 nights after the cruise.

OMG - I just got around to checking out the kids' school calendar and I booked our vacation for Jersey Week b/c in MA we usually have Veteran's Day and the day before off for a teacher conference. Well, not this year. :scared1: The Veteran's Day holiday is not until 11/12 and there's no conference day scheduled. So now my kids are missing an entire week of school, plus the Friday before so we could fly down early in case of weather! Fortunately they're all in Elementary school, but that was a big mess up on my part.

So then I thought I'd just extend our vacation and add a few days at Disney on the end, but now the flights to return on 11/12 (BOS) are outrageous, let alone the change fee we'd have to pay. Bummer! :sad2:

I just booked 6 nights at WDW following the cruise using my postcard discount!

:cool1:

I'd love to be able to do a few nights at WDW following our DCL, but this year we transferred DS from a Catholic school to the public school, since we moved to a better school district.

Their policy is only 5 excused absenses a year. He will take up 4 for the DCL since he is off November 8th. But I better not push it since it will be a new environment, new ciriculum(sp?) and teachers.

Hopefully if he adjusts well, we can do a long weekend, maybe in April for DS's birthday. :cloud9:

DH has never been to WDW and desperately wants to go, but unfortunatly not only do our schedules not allow it but niether does our budget right now lol. We are considering checking out early and going to the space museum. DH has never been on a real vacation like this ever so this trip is extra special.

We had originally planned on doing the Space Center on Saturday after disembarking, and have decided to go ahead and do it since we are right there. We will arrive at WDW late on Saturday night since I understand that KSC will take a full day.
