November 25th, 2016 - Black Friday on the Wonder

We are Don (me age 74 during the cruise) Dee (wife age 73). Allen (son age 49 and wheelchair bound from a stroke) this will be our 10th Disney cruise. We will be on the WONDER AUG 26-sept 9 for the EBPC trip.
Got it if you want to edit info out. We will be neighbors as I am in the room next door, I was wondering if someone would book that room. You will have to let me know about the PC trip as I am booked on the April one next year.
HELLO and Welcome aboard, for all the new posters. I haven't been online in a while, i'm getting very excited. It will be here before we know it.
I'm 1/2 way making and putting together my FE gifts. I don't even have a Fish extender yet hahaha.
But at least you are working on the important things and if all else fails I have seen people just use a bag as their extender.

Our passport renewals are sent off. DD and SIL took the grandgirls for passports last Monday so our whole group should have passports in plenty of time. One more thing checked off the to do list.
I had to do this last year, luckily it didn't take long to get the new one. Now the hard part is waiting to fill in the form online as you need the new passport number.
hi everyone, you would think we would have more people going this close to the cruise. But this will make the meet and greet more personable :)
Just wait, for some reason the last month before the cruise is when more people seem to find us.

Only because I forgot earlier(and I haven't posted enough today:laughing:)

Yay, only one more to go and group 2 is closed! If anyone would like to join or change their info let me know:earsboy:
No new info - I am just moving/updating it for a new page for the newcomers who don't feel like reading the whole thread. Hopefully, all the info to follow will help answer some questions and not scare anyone away:scared1: from joining the DISboards only FE group.

For those that are interested in joining the FE, here are my rules and guidelines. The last group will be closed one month before the cruise and I will then start a latecomer’s group/pixie dust group. Each group will stop at max of 10 cabins. If someone drops before the cruise, I will not replace them in a group(unless the group agrees). If the group had hit 10, it will stay closed.

Real names are not required – it is DW(Darling Wife), DH(Darling Husband), DD(Darling Daughter) and DS(Darling Son). For anyone who wants to make personalized gifts, let me know and I will see what I can do about getting real names.

Info required to join the FE is room #, who is in the room, ages of any kids and an email to send the final list to. Optional info is any allergies and favorite characters. The only person that will have your email is me and I will delete it from my contacts once we are back from the cruise. I will not share your email address unless you request it. I will send an email to all participants in each group as it closes. I will put directions in the email, but please look at the FE info and make sure it is correct. I will have everyone email me back to assure me they have received their email and everything is correct. After that, the only email you will get from me is if there are any changes in your FE group.

There is no spending limit(spend what you are comfortable with). Gifts can be per person or per cabin, your choice. There is no set day to deliver, just have everything delivered before Thursday(Dec. 1st) night. Please make sure to hang your extender as soon as possible for those who want to deliver early(or daily - it does happen). If there is no extender, please do not leave anything as the participants may have changed rooms.

I will let everyone know of any room changes up to 48 hrs. before the cruise, then I will be traveling to Texas and have limited access to the internet. After that you will either have to go door to door and drop off a note of any changes or I will have a whiteboard at my room to write any messages. Be aware that since I am not going to be in every FE group, most people will have no reason to check the board at my room. I will make sure everyone has my room # so they can check the whiteboard or call if they have any issues.

Closer to the cruise we can maybe plan an onboard meet up on day 1 for anyone interested. If anyone is interested in being in charge of starting groups for mixology classes, an ornament exchange(has been organized elsewhere), a postcard exchange, a recipe exchange etc… feel free as I am only doing the FE.

As always, I will try to check this thread daily so feel free to ask any questions.:thanks:

Last time we cruised late November/early December I want to say that the temps were in the 70s-80s and mostly clear skies. However, with the sea breeze it gets chilly on board. I plan on taking capris and t-shirts for me (with a sweatshirt) and pants & t-shirts/dresses for our daughter with a sweater and sweatshirt. We'll be hitting the tail end of hurricane season, so I'd keep a look out at the forecast before we leave. Although, a hurricane that late in the season is unlikely.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the weather will be nice. I should really start planning what to pack. I still need a Pirate costume, too.

I'm going to take bug spray as a precaution. The Bahamas is not on the list for Zika, I believe we all received the email since one of the port of calls is Florida.

Yes, I am gonna take bug spray. Mosquitos love me.

We still need to get our daughter a passport! Ahhhhh!

Can you get a passport for someone so young? How long is it good for? I don't want to say just use a birth certificate cause if something were to happen in the Bahamas I don't think you could fly back with her, but it seems weird to get one for her.

They can have one at any age. It lasts for 5 years. I'd rather have one and not need it than need one and not have it. Plus, we're hoping to travel to Europe in the next few years and she'll definitely need it then.

Only 99 days to go!

The biggest hassle of the passport for kids is that BOTH parents usually have to be present (check specifics on State Department website).

The fun part of passports for kids is that a passport - even if expired - is good as I9 identification proof of citizenship for job info. We had a passport for our son when he was 2 1/2 and hubby worked in Venezuela for Texas Instruments. Somewhere as he grew up he lost his Social Security Card so as a young adult he used his little kid passport as his identification when he started a new job. He said he got quite a few chuckles over that one. He finally got a new passport for our family cruise in 2007 when he was 30 something.

It amazes me that a passport for a child would be good for 5 years. From infant/toddler and add 5 years, is the kid even going to match the picture? Anyways, I am all about keeping old passports as I may never get the stamps I had again. I want to try and get the PC stamp next year as I think they do it on the crossing day.

The first group for the DISboards has changed as we had another one drop and it is as following:

Group 1, I will send an updated list later today.

Just a heads up for those that are still checking in here, group 1 is getting back to me about adding more people so their # goes back to 10. Right now it looks like that is what we're doing and if so everyone signed up for FE's will get an email from me tomorrow. I will take the first two from group 2 and pull them into group 1. This will leave three spots open in group 2 so I will take the three from group 3 and merge them. This will close groups 1 and 2 unless someone has objections? This is kind of like a wedding - speak now or forever hold your peace:rotfl:

Do we still need to have 10 posts to be eligible (seems like I Saw something about that on an earlier post)?

Disregard last question about number of posts, I see it on the left side of posting.

I'd like to join a group if not too late! We have 2 adults and 2 kids. Thanks in advance for any feedback (I don't check here as often as I should!)

Does anyone know if they're installing the virtual portholes in inside cabins with the refurbishment? I think they added them on the Magic when it was updated.
