November 25, 2009 ~ Gobble~Gobble~ 4 Day WONDER Thanksgiving Cruise

Glad to hear you didn't experience cost-cutting that has been cited elsewhere.... so they gave out the bandanas on your cruise for pirate night??

Thanks for organizing a meet-up on board.

My son is already looking forward to the fish extenders... I think he's more excited about giving treats to others than to himself!! Hey, there's the first Disney Miracle of this sailing!

Princess Runner, Your FE is one of the nicest I've seen. My search of ebay hasn't turned up one with the faces on it like yours... so if you don't mind and if you recall, can you please share the name of the ebay seller so I can contact about making a customized one for my family with the faces? Many thanks!

Yes. they are still giving away the bandanas at dinner time, it was so much fun! I e-mailed the lady that made my FE, for some reason she doesn't have the posting on EBAY anymore, PM me with your e-mail address and I send you the info as soon as she answers, is great the time is running and we are getting closer!!!!blessings, Elcka

So happy to report that this past week we took a day trip to the Magic Kingdom while we were in Florida and DS -- who up to that point was rather reticent around costume characters -- gave Pluto a great BIG hug. He was really proud of conquering his fear (so were we) and so he said with a big smile on the monorail as we left the MK, "I'm going to be really good in school so that I can meet more characters on a Disney Cruise at Thanksgiving!"

Woo-hoo is right! :cheer2:

Can't wait... now for even more reasons!

I made my Palo Brunch reservations yesterday, for the 3rd day which we'll spend at sea, yohooo
It looks like we won't be doing much in Nassau, the last time we wre there it was just OK, much rather enjoy the ship....but if you have a good idea as far as excursions please let me know. Blessings

Hello everyone! My family and I will be joining you all on this Thanksgiving cruise. We just booked yesterday and I'm really excited. It will be myself, Kim (31) my DH
(32), DD (4) as well as my Mom, 2 grown brothers and my sister in law.

I'm the only Dis-er and the travel planner for the group. My DH, DD, and I were on a 7-day Magic cruise in May and can't wait to go on the sister-ship, Wonder. We loved our first DCL cruise and can't wait for the second one. We are avid cruisers and frequent visitors to WDW.

I'm looking foward to chatting with you all before the cruise. Now I'm off to read and try to catch up with the thread.

Welcome Aboard Kim!!!! I have added you to our Fellow Cruisers list. :woohoo:

I think someone is going to work on a meet during the cruise for us and I'm hoping we will all do the fish extenders.... Maybe as more people join we will get more active.

Shari:dance3:

Thanks for the welcome.

I made a FE for my last DCL Magic cruise and would love to use it again so count me in! I might even be able to convince my 2 other cabins of family members to join in. I had a great time doing FE's on my last cruise. My DD was so happy getting surprises every day in our FE.

MaggieatSea the FE lady just e-mail me, she is back on EBAY under the name Gradysmommy, so if you do a search on EBAY you'll find her.

Welcome Kim my family just came from a 7 day trip on the Magic in July, so we are going again, this time courtesy of the nice people at DVC, since we jut bought at BLT they gave us this 4 days cruise. So bring on the FE sister is going to be fun!

We'll definetily work out on the meet, hopefully more people get exited as the date gets closer! love and blessings. Elcka

Welcome Kim. Just booked palo for last night. We didnt like Nassau much either we will probably just find ship things to do. Although DW is itching to swim with Dolphins.

I'm a first time Disney cruiser so I can't book excursions until Sept 11. If someone who can book already has a few extra minutes would you look and tell me what times the "nature walk and Kayak" excursion on CC is offered and the "deep sea fishing" on CC. We are trying to decide between the two excursions and times might be the deciding factor.

Thanks!
Shari

PS... I keep thinking about the fish extenders and I"m trying to come up with a cute layout for ours.

Thanks for the welcome! Since this was such a surprise trip for us I'm not planning on doing much with excursions. I'm not a fan of Nassau and prefer to stay on the ship and relax with the semi-empty mickey pool as my DD goes down the slide over and over again. popcorn::

When I find it, I'll see if I can post a picture of the FE I made for my last trip. It has a Mickey theme. I'm just so excited that I'll get to use it again.

We are also not planning on going to Palo this cruise. My DH and I dined there last May and loved it, but since this is a family cruise I know my Mom wants all of us together each night. And since she is paying, what Momma wants, Momma gets ;).

We are not doing Palo either. I have heard that it is really good. Honesty just not having to cook is going to be a treat to me. If we do a seven day cruise in the future then we might try it. I honesty don't know which dinning room I would give up, they all sound so neat!

We are doing the Atlantis through Comfort Suites in Nassau. This is the first cruise for the kids so I hate to not get off the ship. I'm thinking 3 days in a row would be too much just hanging out.

I'm getting so excited. I just can't wait until Sept 11 so I can see the rest of the disneycruise.com web site and discover more things.

Shari

I'm about to call and switch our dinning time. We have the first seating and we think we would rather do the late seating so that we don't have to rush on port days.

I know that if we do they late seating then we will see the early show. About what times do the shows start?

SHari

OKAY>>>>>> I called and I could not change my reservation with DCL because I booked with DVC points and cash. I called DVC and of course they are closed! I"ll try to call again tomorrow....

WELCOME! :cheer2: I just did my first Disney cruise this May -- a 7-night Magic one. So, if you have some questions I might be able to answer them. I have never gotten a room at the Comfort Inn, but you should be able to find the answer on cruisecritic.com. They have a great section on ports of call and I remember seeing that question asked a lot.

Shari -- I have second seeting dining and would love our party of 7 to have first seeting. It's just better with a 4 year old, but I think I can make the second seeting work -- we'll just have to plan some extra snacks into our day. Chelsea, my DD, will probably call dinner her second dinner of the night. She's a night owl, so I hope she'll be fine. I know I can put her in the kids club, but she always eats with us on cruises (unless we are doing the adults only restaurants) and I know Grandma will want her there with us. She is outgrowing her nap-time, but I think some nap-time might be in order on the cruise to help her get through.

From what I remember the early shows were around 6 o'clock. I'm sure someone has some Navigators posted on these boards somewhere.

Kim

i agree with nap time. I think everyone adults included need a nap? quiet period before dinner. It just seemed to make the nite go better when we did on the last cruise.

Well..... as of 2 hours ago we are 75 days out... so.... is everyone booked????

I have dial up connection and it is taking forever to get throught the disney site!

Now... I have a few questions I should of asked before this evening:
1) What time is the sail away party? I booked a pedicure for the first afternoon and I'm afraid it will be during the sail away party.

2)I know our schedule is different than the typical 4 day cruise in that our sea day and castaway cay are switched. Will pirate day be Castaway cay night still or will it be on the sea day?

:rotfl:I waited forever to book all this stuff and I think I just made a mess of everything! One good thing is that I did get the kayak excursion at CC.:cool1:

Hi...My DH and I are taking our first ever cruise for thanksgiving:woohoo: We have been DVC members since 1997 are originally from the Boston MA area but moved to Bradenton FL (1 hr 15 minutes to WDW) 6 years ago. Proud owners of FL Resident annual passes since then! We are hoping to extend the magic with our first cruise and figure if we like it, we will take kids/grandkids next time (we have 4 darling grandsons under the age of 6!)

Welcome Diana1 :cheer2:

I think that we need a name for our growing group. In May we were the Key Lime Pie-Rates (there was a lot of Key Lime pie talk at one time). Any suggestions for this Thanksgiving cruise? Since I haven't told my DD yet I have been calling it Operation Gobble Gobble to my DH when we discuss the cruise in front of her. A good name is always great for door magnets!

I really like Operation Gobble Gobble....think its really cute! Is there any kind of plan for people to meet at some point. I would also LOVE any suggestions for Excursions....booked the stingrays at CC and Atlantis adventure in Nassau...but am having second thoughts. We live in FL...how cold will the water be....will we really want to spend our time in the water at Atlantis? Booked Palio on Wednesday at 730 and for Brunch on Friday AM (dinner was full on Friday) Will I miss something going to Palio on the first night? We are VERY excited and I am so glad for DIS to get good ideas and advice!!!!
