November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

So Delta called us today - Apparently our flight from Detroit on the Friday is overbooked. Something about switching plane types. They wanted to offer us a $200 voucher if we switch to a later flight. Has anyone done this before? I thought they had to offer $400-$800 dependent upon how much later you got to your destination.

Delta starts at $200 then goes up if needed. If you are interested, you could play the waiting game and see if they increase their offer. I usually wait for the $400 offer before doing anything.

Would everyone in the FE please review this spreadsheet and let me know of any updates/errors? Thanks!!

We are good to go.

Yes unfortunately we are still GTY. The suspense is killing me. :hourglass
I think this weekend we are going to work on our FE Gifts. We are soooo excited.

After I read your post, I decided to go to the Delta website and check our tickets out. They have changed now for the 3rd time. I had to call again and change the tickets to a reasonable time. Here I booked them back in March so I didn't have to deal with all these issues. Not very happy with them changing all of the time. I thought they are suppose to give you the $400-$800 like you said. It would not be worth it for the $200. Also ask for first class seats, who knows they might have them.

Great Spreadsheet. My info looks fine. My Mom's name is Rose, my 11 year old daughter's name is Erin, and my 6 year old daughter's name is Lynn.
Thank you.

My flights were booked back in January because I thought fares would be going up instead of down like they have been recently. They have also changed three times. Since we are flying in on Friday I am not as concerned about the changes but they are annoying.

I was told by a former Delta employee that they will normally start at $200 unless the flight is a four hour or more flight then they usually start at $400. They will increase the incentive to defer only if it is needed. It has been interesting to see them cutting flights, changing equipment, then finding out that they "overbooked" a flight so that they have to pay out incentives to get people to change their flights. I guess they have the economics of all this figured out. It seems I've been seeing this more this year on my business tirps than I ever have in the past. I wonder what would happen to the economics if people caught on and forced them to increase the offers to $800 before anyone talks to them about giving up their seats.

Excitement is brewing!!!! Working on FE gifts right now. Since it is my first time doing it, nervousness as to if everyone will like it.

Everyone will love it! It is just so neat to get different things from different people and areas.

This is probably why I don't get paid for this job, but on:

I never verified to see if it was there - I just assumed. I asked to be included on 06-11-2012, 04:07 PM. :confused3

This is your post. Are you telling me somewhere in here you are asking to be signed up for the FE?

Hello Katesdad, yes my DW and I have been on a few cruises. The Magic and the Wonder are fantastic ships, although they are smaller and older than the newer DCL ships (Dream and Fantasy). I never thought any ship could take the place of the Magic and the Wonder, but the Dream did it. The Dream is certainly a beautiful ship that out shines the older ships by:
1. Newer technology (Enchanted Art, facial recognition, and RFID Keys of the World for the photo kiosks cabin doors, etc.)
2. More entertainment options for children, teens, and adults (the adult-only "district" has lots of different places to buy a cocktail and dance the night away)
3. The Aquaduck (WAY COOL)
4. Larger open spaces (in fact, the ship holds over 1,000 more passengers, but it rarely felt crowded)
5. The art work is amazing
6. Free “phones” in the room to use during the cruise to keep in touch with your family members around the ship

Areas where I believe the magic/Wonder are still better include:
1. The Dream’s adult pool area is not as inviting as the Magic/Wonder and the staff allowed teens into the pool.
2. The fast food on the Magic/Wonders pool decks are on both sides of the ship. This food is all in the same general area on the Dream, so it is much more crowded when the masses are hungry.
3. Compared to the Magic/Wonders Animators Palate restaurant, the Dreams was somewhat boring (although Crush is funny).

As far as DCL in general, my DW and I love all of the Disney ships and DCL is our favorite cruise line. You will never find cruise ships with better service and entertainment. Every crew member speaks good English. You don’t feel overran by children, and not having any children, that says something. You can bring your own alcohol on board. Free sodas. It's is also the only cruise line to have a full fireworks show while underway. Oh, and you get to see Mickey!

If you have any specific questions regarding the port of calls (we have been to all of them several times) or the cruise line/ship, just ask.

Sorry if I am still missing it, but you are signed up now . . .

This is what "I think" is the latest FE list - please send me any corrections/updates!!

OTHER FE NEWS . . .

We currently have 25 families/staterooms signed up, we should vote this week on where we want the cap to be. How about we say, vote by COB Monday, 10/8/2012 - that way we know as soon as the sign up closes how many we should be preparing for?

MY VOTE:
I don't really want to go above 30. I suggest that if we hit 30 or more - we split in half. If we do split, I would split by staterooms - so that you are delivering to the floors closest to you.

EMAIL ADDRESSES:
I currently have 3 address: BrutusBru; Katesdad; kihart;
You do not have to give me your email address - but the spreadsheet is easier to read if I could send you it in EXCEL

TIP OF THE DAY:
The last time I participated in a FE was on our 2010 Halloween Cruise [Mickey's Not So Scarry Halloween Cruise]. There was one family that got to their stateroom and it had a very bad odor to it (something involving a toilet). They went to GS and were moved to another stateroom. They showed the CM at GS their FE spreadsheet and one message was sent to all participating, telling everyone the new stateroom.
(now I'm not sure if that is a tip or a story - but there you have it!)

Hello! How are you? We finally got our stateroom. It is 5170! Thanks for doing this.
Getting excited now.....

Hello all, sorry for absence here. I have been over on the FB page for our cruise. We finally got our GTY assigned and have sent it to the FE lilst. We are looking forward to meeting up with some of you! Gotta start packing now so I can keep whittling it down to one suitcase!

See ya real soon! Somecomic:hourglass

I forgot to mention about adding my DW and I to the M&G. :scared1:

I am Steve and my DW Lisa. we are from Cocoa Fl. The cabin is a GTY, so no cabin assigned yet.

Please include us in the FE.

Thanks!!

DiZney CraZy, thanks for adding us to the FE and M&G.

dizney-cruiser,
First of all , thank you for putting this together. I've done it in the past and it is a thankless job.
Secondly, on June 13 (or somewhere around that date) I posted the above.

No big deal, just wanted to make sure I actually posted it. I was starting to doubt myself!!!

I'm thinking we should split it as it is but maybe that's just me as a new cruiser getting nervous. LOL If by the deadline we get an even number of staterooms, we should do two. Maybe split it by seahorses/fishes?

Our stateroom is 7160. Thanks again for doing this!!

I have no preference if we decide to cap and/or split as long as we cut it off on Oct. 12 as planned and make a decision quickly after that. I just want to make sure I have enough time to buy enough stuff for everyone.
