November 24, 2012 ~ Western Fantasy ~ Pachyderms of the Caribbean

Frontier is flying (non-stop) from Harrisburg to Orlando starting in May.
Rates aren't released that far out yet, but it looks like it'll be around $89/pp.

Hi there,
I did purchase them from Delta leaving from Philadelphia. I am paying $215 round trip for each of us. I was afraid to wait since the prices are going up because of gas and it is a very heavily traveled holiday. Layover is only an hour tops. Not to bad at all. Thanks for letting me know about Frontier, I believe they are also going to flying out of Allentown as well. I would have waited but like you said, the rates are not out yet.

Looks like we're about a week and a half away from Frontier releasing flight fares for the trip down (2 and a half for the return flight).

I live near Hershey - so I'll wait as long as I have to to get a decent fare, non-stop from Harrisburg and not have to travel to Philly or Baltimore

I wish we could have left from Allentown or Harrisburg. Philly is not my favorite place. Oh well, I was afraid of the airfare pricing. Hope you get a good deal.

Hello Everyone -

We are Chris&Jeremy. (Chris, 35 & DP Jeremy 34). We are already listed in the roll call as Dear Friends of Cliffy97 (Bruce & Dan). Jeremy and I met Bruce and Dan on the DISboards last year before we embarked on the Westbound Transatlantic in September. While onboard, booked this Fantasy cruise.

Unfortunately Bruce & Dan have to back out of the trip due to issues with their passports (they are trying to gain UK citizenship), so if Jeremy and I still go, it will just be the two of us.

We are still debating if we want to keep our res or if we are going to cancel too, but just thought I would say hello.

We had a blast with all of the fellow DIS'ers on the WBTA (we had all been chatting online for over a year before sailing!) and it made it a great experience.

- Chris

am having such a hard time deciding what to do for our FE gifts for everyone...

if anyone would like to suggest things that they enjoy getting, or mention things they don't enjoy.. that would be helpful :)

i don't want to give a gift and have it be considered 'junk' or not up to standard, and since this is our first FE... we just want to make sure we are doing the right thing :)

thanks all :)

My favorite things are when people bring items that are typically from their area - you are from Australia, right? Maybe a candy bar that you have there that we wouldn't have in the states . . . :surfweb:

Great question, I'm looking forward to everyone's responses. Nice idea on the bar.

Today is a good day!!

I have read the words that I have been expecting to read since I first booked this cruise. Those three, beautiful, words...

PAID. IN. FULL.

Now it feels like we are really on our way.

We are dancing right with you!! We paid our trip off this week as well!!

I can tell you Madi adores Rapunzel, but she loves anything to do with any of the princesses.
I'm big on anything military themed, and Jen is a computer techie.
We also love to see interesting things from other parts of the world.

Ok now lets get into the deep end...

I would like to do FE's, (my wife is actually quite excited about it) but we are not certain how it exactly works. Here are a few questions:

OK, so we hang the FE's in our doors and everyone who decides to participate leaves gifts in the FE,s for people in that stateroom. it could be something home made, or candy or something from your state/country (which we are inclined to do) but...

1. Is it one gift a day or just one in the whole cruise?

2. Is there a certain time when it is supposed to be done?

3. Should we leave something different for kids in a stateroom than the adults?

If I think of something else I will post it later.

my understanding of FE is that it is a fun gift exchange.

basically you register for your cruise's FE gift exchange program so that everyone who participates knows who else is participating.

you decide what gift you want to make/buy/craft for your fellow DISers. some people make gifts, some people buy gifts etc.

you decide when to give the gifts. some do it on the first day, some do it on a particular day throughout the cruise. it is up to you when you want to go on a trek over the boat and 'deliver' your gifts. some split their time delivering gifts into morning/evening depending on what else you have planned for the day.

some people make 1 gift per stateroom. some others make one gift for the adults and one gift for the children. some people go really intensely and make a female adult gift, a male adult gift, a female child gift, a boy child gift, and some even break the children's gifts into older children (teenagers/tweens) and younger children/babies.

it is all at your discretion as what you choose to give and how much you want to spend on each person/stateroom etc.

remember, a FE group can get quite big, and presently we have almost 15 families, and almost 50 people participating. when you add up costs, that can be quite expensive for some people, which is why sometimes a FE group is split in 2 or even 3 small groups to help keep costs down etc.

just my understanding of the process!!

I feel the same way - I would prefer that the group not be too much bigger than this (I haven't officially listed myself yet - but I'm sure that is coming!) - this is why we have the cut off date for signing up as 10/12 - at that time we will take a vote to see if the majority wants to stay in one group or split. In some of the past cruises I have been on, the people that preferred a larger group just signed up to be in each of the smaller groups. :surfweb:

Hi all! I just wanted to say hi and join in the fun. My husband John and I, along with our 2 children Rhiannon and JT will be enjoying our first Disney cruise during the week of the 24 th of Nov. We will also be celebrating my sons 6 th birthdayba week maye ( his birthday is the 17th). I am also interested in the FE!

hey janice -- hope you do join in -- you have been great at organising all of this.

just wanted to say that for us, our vote is a small group rather than a large, purely for logical reasons... coming all the way from australia limits how much spare space i have in my luggage to bring over our gifts and if we have a large group, i won't have much room :(

really looking forward to the dismeet and FE exchange and our first ever disney cruise.

Just an update - we decided to keep our res and we will be on this trip. After watching the Fantasy sail out (and with some of our WBTA friends aboard who are sending pictures and updates), how can you not?!

To get our Disney fix in the meantime, we booked a trip to WDW in May. :) :cool1:

Seeing all of the maiden voyage info and pictures has been very exciting. Excitedly counting down the days until we are onboard ourselves. :)
