November 21, 2012: Giving Thanks(giving) for a DREAM come true!

Hi everyone. We have moved our reservation from the Thanksgiving cruise to be able to go to the Med in June 2013. Hope you all have a great cruise!

Hi all! First time cruiser and first time poster!

Taking my DS on our first cruise and I am SO excited. He says that his "dream" vacation is to go to on a cruise to the Bahamas! I have not told him about the trip yet and am trying to think of a clever way to reveal the surprise. Any ideas for me?

Welcome!!!!! When is his birthday- maybe you could incorporate something into his gift??:thumbsup2

Hi everyone! I'm getting really, really excited for our cruise. I am having a tiny bit of "Fantasy envy" after reading posts about the new ship, but I'm sure we will have a lovely time aboard the Dream. I hope you're all doing well and look forward to chatting more as Embarkation Day draws nearer!

I am getting excited too, and funny you said that about the "Fantasy envy" was feeling the same way. hahaha But we will probably rebook onboard for the Fantasy- and hopefully all the "kinks" will be gone by the time we go. ;)

First post has been updated with everyone who has checked in so far. Let me know if anything needs to be corrected or added. I'm excited for us all to get to know one another!

Have any repeat guests experienced the Tween club yet? Someone told me it's super-important for your tween to go the first night because that's when they all vote on the activities for the cruise. Will this interfere with those of us on second seating for dining? I want Beth to experience both the show and the dinner with us as a family, but not if that means she won't get a say in what the tweens end up doing for the rest of the cruise. Any advice?

Hello friends -

Just thought I'd pop over here and check in on everyone. Now that we just got off the Dream on Monday - I absolutely can't wait to get back onboard in November - gosh, that seems so far away!

My mother is hard at work on our FE gifts already and now I'll be thinking about getting our first FE for both cabins. The Dream has seahorses (not fish) - but I'm guessing FE is still the accepted term :)

I hope everyone had a great Easter/Passover holiday and I look forward to meeting everyone over the next several months!

DH and I (5 years since our last cruise) along with my SIL, BIL, 2 nephews (all new cruisers) and MIL & FIL (cruise annually). However, we are all new to Disney cruiseline.

Also, what is a Fish Extender?

Hi everyone,

I am getting ready to book this cruise and I am excited and nervous! Last time we were onboard the DCL was 2002! Looooong time ago!

I will be cruising along with my husband and our three :dance3: kids- D (17), S (will have just turned 14) and S (10). It will be S10's first cruise and I don't think S14 really remembers going either.

I am getting all "hepped up" over trying to book rooms- we want to book two rooms and it is hard to figure out the process. All the different categories and such are hard to understand!

My Dh and I want to renew our vows on our trip and include the kids. We will have been married for 20 years! :cloud9:

What is a "fish extender?"

Looking forward to "meeting" everyone!

Hi Everyone-

We will be sailing with you all on the Thanksgiving Dream. It will be my DH (Chuck), our DS (Mason) who will be 13 and me (Lisa). We are very excited because my Dsis (Laura), her husband (David) and their DS (Morgan) who will be almost 12 at the time will be joining us for their first Disney Cruise!! :cool1: :thumbsup2

We look forward to getting to know everyone on this thread!! We would also love to participate in a FE exchange.

As can be seen from the signature, Thanksgiving on Disney has become an annual ritual for us....unless something changes, our friends Wendy, Larry and Lindsay (13) Long will also be sailing with us for about the 6th or 7th time and Wendy is the master at arranging FE's and group mini-Navigators (and door signs). We waited to post b/c we had booked both the 4 day and the 7 day that week waiting to see what Florida was planning with the schools that week this year....Last year we were booked on the Dream, but Florida furloughed the teachers Mon/Tue of that week due to budget issues and we switched to the 7 day Magic (ironically it was less expensive). However, it appears there will be school Thanksgiving week this coming Fall so we are on the Dream (though we are also on the Fantasy in August). We were on the Dream last summer so we are familiar with the ship and it really is a great improvement in many ways, but also a step back in others....

The stabilizers and photography shops are great improvements and the interactive pictures / scavenger hunts are a novel idea (which they have now expanded at the Magic Kingdom). On the other hand, if you are tall like me (6'8") and Larry (6'7"), there is some bad news. They bermed the rows in the main theater so there is a lot less leg room. Ditto for the chairs in the main bar/disco. Also, beware the drinkholders in the WD theater...they are sloped and yes a full drink will spill...trust me I learned that one the hard way. Palo is as good as always and Remy is very popular too.

But the best addition by far is the Aquaduck. It is great fun for any age.

Welcome!!!! Thanks for the info- especially the drink tip- I would have been mad if my $8 drink would have spilled. I can't wait for the cruise!! Never done Thanksgiving on the cruise.

Got my airfare today, Southwest just opened it. I had reward points with them, so it cost me $15.

BTW, where in Baltimore? I was born and raised in Pikesville and graduated from Boys' Latin

Chuck:cool1:

We booked our airfare today for the 3 of us and my parents...had to swallow a $282/person cost, but in the end it will be worth it! My sis is still considering driving, but we keep reminding her what I-95 will be like the Sunday after Thanksgiving!

Looking forward to "meeting" everyone here before meeting everyone "there"!
