November 2015 Check-in thread

Yes, last year was weird and they even had EMH at both parks each day from the Sat before Thanksgiving running that entire week. I looked up the historical hours on Touring Plans below.

In 2015 the hours for 11/17-11/22 were:
Tue & Wed DL 9am-10pm, DCA 8pm
Thu both parks 8am-8pm
Fri, Sat, Sun 8am-12am, DCA 11pm

In 2014 the hours for 11/18-11/23 were:
Tue, Wed, Thu both parks 10am-8pm
Fri DL 9am-11pm, DCA 10pm
Sat DL 9am-12am, DCA 10pm
Sun DL 8am-12am, DCA 10pm

That is really helpful. Thank you so much! :flower3:

Then remember if you have early morning/magic morning privileges, it will be an hour earlier than that in 1 park each day. It was the 7 a.m. EMH after the late closing that was killer! If we were mid-day break park people, it wouldn't be so bad I guess! :goodvibes

Yeah, our plan is to stay onsite so we will be at early entry every morning. But this will be a shorter trip than we have had in a while so we need to make the most of the hours that we can. :)

I'm hoping it won't be as hot as it was on our October trip last year, so maybe we won't need any mid-day breaks.

Those 7AM early entries are rough, but that also makes them less attended, so worth it! And I figure the earlier the early entry, the faster we will get through security. Plus, since we're coming from the central time zone, the early mornings are easier for us than others.

Last year was odd with the times because of the 60th. I remember when I was planning, I was expecting the parks to be open 9am-8pm, based on historical hours for that time, but they totally changed it last year. I don't know if they'll go back to the 9am-8pm hours, or stick with what they did last year..it'll probably depend on what the crowd levels turn out to be.

We were there Nov. 13th-20th, and heat wasn't really an issue. I was in jeans and a short sleeve shirt pretty much every day, and was quite comfortable. The one day we did the San Diego Zoo we were actually all a bit cold (had jackets on) because it was so windy. I think the daytime temps in SD that day were probably in the 60s with high wind, so it felt chillier than it really was. A few days later we were back at DLR and it was quite warm (I probably could have been in shorts, but was still ok in jeans). We didn't need to take mid day breaks, but did usually find a place to chill out for lunch for a while each day.

That's helpful! We did early December in 2013 and FROZE. We did last week of October last year and baked. So I had no idea what to expect mid-November! Hopefully we'll split the difference and get nice middle of the road temps. I'd settle for 60's. 2013 we didn't hit the 50's until our last day there.

I would love to see the parks open at 9 on those mid-week days instead of 10. The later open days on our last trip were a mess getting through security, and that was before the enhanced security was put in place.

I was there Nov 21-22 last year and it was in the low-90s. I was in shorts and a t-shirt all day! I think it was hot like that the same weekend the previous year too, in 2014. I had some friends there that weekend and I think it got up to 100, but I was there the weekend AFTER Thanksgiving and it rained! So, be prepared for anything!

Not encouraging! LOL. But definitely helpful to know. We do already know to be ready for anything. That has been our standing plan for so many trips we have taken in December to both WDW and DLR.

I know, it doesn't help at all on the planning front. I'm always obsessed with the weather whenever planning a trip and still always manage to pack the wrong things!

I always say the weather will just be what it is and try not to obsess about it. But then I obsess about it!

LOL right? I remember I went in late June once, packed all shorts and tanks, and it was like 60's and cloudy the entire time. I had to buy a jacket. I just booked for Nov 27th - Dec 2nd. I am hopeful for a high of 75, and that's for 20 mins at 4 pm, haha! Went in Dec 2014 and it was lovely mid-high 60's and rained once. Best day ever in the rain!

We were there Nov 17-22 last year. The last 2 days, like Angrose posts above, were really hot. The earlier days in our trip weren't as sweltering. But the nice thing about it being hot in November is that the hours it is hot are pretty limited. It took until 10-11 range to warm up and then was starting to cool down by 3:30. In fact, every morning I had a sweatshirt, a jacket and gloves on (the rest of my family thought I was nuts, but I was cold!), then mid-day I'd start peeling off the layers and by 4:00 I was beginning the layering up again. I think the main thing that time of year is to be prepared for anything from 90's down to 50's, rain or dry, and bring things you can layer. If you are going to stay into the evening, you will need at least sweatshirts.

Was your rainy day 12/12/14 by chance? We were there that week and I watched that day in the forecast for 2 weeks ahead of time hoping it would change. Nope. And it poured so much it flooded TSMM. But we dug out the umbrellas and headed to the parks. It was great to have crowds so low!

Other than that though, the week was perfect!

That's a great point. Even the last week of October when it was crazy hot, it cooled down very nicely in the evenings. I was surprised to find myself wanting a jacket while watching Fantasmic after sweltering that same afternoon.

We did October in 2014, and it was definitely hot--but cooled down in the evening. I think that makes it more bearable when you aren't out in the heat for as many hours. November is even more so.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone started a November 2016 thread yet? I haven't bothered to search, but I'm wondering if this conversation would reach more people if posted there. We'll be there this November and I've been in November a few times in the past. As others said, last year was a little weird with the 60th. I'm hoping for more "normal" November hours this year. If I remember back to earlier years, 9AM openings are fairly standard except on weekends (8AM) or Thanksgiving (8AM).

Weather is really hit or miss. Some years, it's sweltering, but then I've had some years when I wasn't living in so cal and come back for Thanksgiving expecting it to be warmer than where I was living and I ended up needing to bundle up in layers. It's crazy.

Does anyone recall for Nov. 23-27th 2015 or other years the EMH shcedule ? I could have sworn it was at both parks some days but could be wrong. Debating staying at PPH for our last trip of the year.

Last year it was EMH for both parks everyday the whole week of Thanksgiving. In 2014 it was the normal EMH schedule.

That's what I thought. I'm thinking it was both due to the 60th and the holiday time. We shall see I guess :)

November 2016 check-in thread is here:

I just decided to bump this one up when I was having trouble finding park hours from last year, and I figured someone who visited last year would have it in their notes.

I agree with this..

I also would not ride POTC after dark. We rode it after dark once last year, and my jeans got soaked. I think it was around 530 or 6? I wasn't dry until like 1130p that night when we were walking to Trader Sam's. It was not fun being wet at night :( As long as this getting soaked issue keeps happening on POTC, I think our days of riding it at night are done (unless we ride it immediately prior to leaving).
