November 2015 car rental thread

just booked a trip starting 11/7, traditional rates coming up high yet again, no surprise lol.

booked the 'brazil' 7016427 code on Alamo w/the $35 coupon AD2338FDF to have a starting point of $110 for a compact. Rather iffy for my tastes, and little info here from those who have used it successfully but at least it doesn't include the LDW. Figure between now & then will swap out the rate code for more traditional one.

I was booked through Enterprise for 8 days midsize SUV for $321. Just used the Alamo coupon codes mentioned above and got a midsize SUV for $230!!! Thanks guys! :worship::worship:

Those codes didn't net me much of a savings. Cost without codes is $447 and with codes is 443.

Following...need a good rate for a mini-van for family Thanksgiving 9-day trip!

The cheapest I've found through Alamo is $403 for a minivan, 11/18-11/27, picking up in Orlando and returning at Tampa.

I completely agree - Prices are high this year! We go to Disney the same time every year and never got rates this high! It's over $100 more than we paid last year (staying one more day) - got price quotes anywhere from $450-600 for a full sized vehicle with no add ons. I'm not giving up on getting a better rate though. Thanks for starting this thread!

Just booked a luxury car for 8 dayss in Nov 11-13 to 11-21 for 310 dollars thru Costco.

My dates are 11/28 - 12/5. I booked mid March through Dollar for a mid-size SUV and have a rate of $241.42. I just used the above Alamo code and was able to get a rate of $238.33 for the same. There is only a couple of dollar difference so my question is does anyone prefer one company over the other? Hopefully something even better will come along but for now I will cancel one of these and play the waiting game.
Alamo at MCO has always been better for my family, we do the online check in and go right to our row, have lucked out and been able to get mini vans the last 2 times when we only booked full size. The guys in the lot are very helpful, they see us coming and make sure to mention that we can take a minivan for no extra charge if we would like. Dollar on the other hand, I find the customer service to be very lacking, they are not very helpful and don't seem happy to be there at all. The cars we have gotten from them haven't been the greatest. We had one that the interior lights didn't work (picked it up during the day so didn't notice until later that night) and on another minivan, the one of the backseat doors kept opening and closing randomly (luckily not when the car was in motion) and the batteries on the electronic keys stopped working. When we called Dollar, the only response was to bring the car back to MCO.

I have rented Dollar from other cities before with no issues whatsoever. We rented a car in Anaheim that the windshield washers stopped working during a rainstorm, Dollar brought a new car out to our hotel. Got another car from them before that had a total of 3 miles on it!

I love Dollar, just not in Orlando, go with Alamo.

Just joining in. Currently have a Mid-Size SUV from Dollar for 11/5 - 11/9 for $259.64 using Dollar Express and AAA discount. Cheaper than Mid-size car. Hoping prices will go down as I get closer.

Question for all you rental savvy people. I have a rental booked through Alamo with my pickup time being noon but I just changed our flights and it looks like we will probably be ready to pick up the car around 10AM instead. What happens if I show up without changing my reservation?

I think it's hard to say. From personal experience we have been made to wait or told the price would increase.

I used the Brazil Code to get a full size from the 13th-22nd for $265.00. I am still Hopefull that the price will come down by about $100!

I just booked a mid size SUV through Alamo using the Costco code for $280 for 11/26-12-2.

I also have a ressie using the Vegas Brazil, LLC code and $30 Visa coupon and got a rate of $150.89 for a Standard. I'm keeping the Costco ressie in case there is a problem with this one, but from what I've read, people have not had any issues.

just checked my rates for early NOV. thru Costco down a few bucks. not much but I'll take it.

Just lowered my rate at Dollar. $229.66 for mid-size SUV - 11/5 - 11/9 (Dollar Express and AAA). Was $259.64. Baby steps.
