NOVEMBER 2012 Trip Planners Part 2~yes there IS another!

Sadly, a lot of states are either switching or considering switching to similar models since they can tie individual school funding into school attendance records.

Certain federal funding is based on attendance, one of the local districts around here just got nailed on doing too many half days as opposed to full days off for teaching planning and such to "game" the system.

Our school district has 5 excused/unexcused days, i.e. go to Disney for a week in addition to a certain amount w/ a parent note for sickness and more with a physicians note.

It's not an issue for us, rarely are my girls sick and rarely do they miss a day for it. We will pull them out whenever we feel like it. They get all A's and the occasional B. The school knows we home schooled before and will do it again if they give us any crap. We are currently homeschooling our youngest because she missed the age cut off by 24 days this year (like our other daughter).

My wife and I both went to kindergarten at 4. Today, they want kids in kindergarten at 6. The entire US school system is joke.

We enjoy extended weekends and traveling off season, no reason to let that stand in our way.

We're considering taking a FLA trip in Nov as well, Thanksgiving at the beach and the next week at the world. We'll use 5 of the 'whatever' days for the week after and a sick day or two for the Tuesday Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Maybe there will be something offered that week.

Very Frustrated with Disney!!!

We've gotten pin codes like clockwork for three years. We even got the pin that expired in August... So I did a "search" in my email from Disney Destinations... Something weird... we hadn't gotten anything since that offer from ANY disney stuff. So, thinking it was weird, I checked out our profile on Disney.com, and somehow our settings were changed to NO COMMUNICATION!!!

No wonder why we didn't get the offer

I'm helping my friends mom book a trip for November after thanksgiving. They are thinking of staying at a value hotel but wasn't sure what one. I told her I didnt think pop Warner stays at pop century but I want to make sure that is correct. Are they at all the other values? Last year we were there at that same week staying at POR and they werent there because of the remodel has anyone heard if they will be there? There are 7 of them going so are they better off booking in one reservation to get connected rooms or close by? Or booking the two rooms separately?

I have been lurking here for several weeks but haven't posted yet. We are booked at WL from Nov 3rd - Nov 11th. This is our first trip with our 6 and 8 year olds. I am beyond overwhelmed by all the planning this trip is taking. I am so stressed about figuring out which park to visit on which day! I had my husband help me and I think we have it figured out but I keep worrying about it. He said I am waaaayyy overthinking it all. But, I have been dreaming about taking the kids for years and I just want to make sure I do everything I can so that we have the best time we possibly can.

I have a question for everyone who books all these meals in advance. I did book CRT and Biergarten but I worry that booking dinner every night will make us feel rushed to be at a certain place at a certain time. I also worry that the kids might be too exhausted to sit through a sit down meal each night and counter service might be easier. Anyone have any advice or thoughts on this?

Go ahead and book one sit down meal for each day. You can change or cancel them later, but if you wait too long all the good restaurants and times will be booked. Also, we love www.ridemax.com You tell it what days/times you will be in a park, what rides you want to ride, and it will spit out a personalized touring plan. You need to hold off on purchasing it until you are about 60 days out from your trip, though-- the subscription is for 90 days, and they only load dates about 45-60 days in advance. We don't go to WDW without it, though .


I'm SO jealous of the FD PIN!!!! Just called and I've got some % off that expires in August attached to my name. To make matters worse, I got an email last week with a PIN for 20% off during our dates, but apparently, it is attached to my parents' names (who aren't traveling with us this time), even though it went to MY email. The nice CM tried to apply it today, but it wouldn't work . I'm going to call daily about the FD PIN. Maybe the squeaky wheel will get some grease!! --Katie

Hi all! We just got back from out quick beach getaway. I didn't take my computer and turn my cell phone off most of the time. It was such a great time to unplug. I can see y'all have been busy planning and making ADRs. I've got a lot to catch up on, but I just wanted to make sure there were no new public FD discounts.

Yes I checked mine too....NO COMMUNTICATION!!!! SO I checked dads (the other room going) no email communication, checked my brothers...NO COMMUNICATION do you know how many PINS we could be missing out on!?!?!?!?!

So, our anniversary is nov 11 and my sweetie and I were planning to spend our wedding anniversary in WDW. To our (especially my husband's ) delight, Food and Wine will still be going on during our Nov 7-12 trip. However, that weekend is also Veteran's day weekend, "Jersey Week", the last weekend of F&W, and the half marathon. We have determined my DH does not take heavy crowds and lines well. If we have a repeat of our last trips in early August or New Years Eve, it will be a LONG week! Have either of you been at that time? What kinds of waits did you have in line for rides or food? I didn't realize there were quite as many things going on to draw crowds in until after booking our stay at POR....

That's so fabulous! Hopefully Mickey will give us all an early Christmas present and just open up FD for everyone! I wonder if those dates might change at all...just missed my check in date!
