November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

I buy a coffee mug every trip. DH is the only coffee drinker of the family, so he gets the collectible souvenirs from every WDW vacation- and he only goes with us about once every 5 years. :lmao:

DD picks a different inexpensive thing to collect each trip- usually something that she can find different in each park. One year it was pins, one year fridge magnets. Our last trip, she got a different keychain from every park. I think she might fall victim to the allure of Vinylmation this year... :rotfl:

I don't buy much. But I did start a tradition of trying to trade for a pin that has the year on it. I also always buy the scrapbooking kit for that year.

DD does pin trading and pressed pennies. Who knows what else she'll come home with!

I just checked and Wal-Mart has a 2 pack of boys & girls Disney t- shirts (up to 8 designs) for $13

I think i will get them and when I wake my boys up for our flight I can have them get dressed.....SURPRISE!!!!!

Now If I can just keep my secret a secret till then! ;)

I just made my "just-in-case" ADRs for January and SCORED BOG! :faint:

Now I'm getting all excited about the possibility of changing...

Wish my friends would decide. :confused3

The only problem with changing is... One DS is REALLY happy to change and the other is CRUSHED. (The crushed one wants to miss 5 days of school instead of just 2., but he says it's because he really wanted to be there for the Osborne Lights.)

Decisions, decisions... :confused3

Congrats on scoring BOG!!!

Hello everyone! I don't venture out into the 'regular' boards that much(usually stay on the TRs or the DDC boards) but I saw this thread and I started reading.... We will be staying at POFQ from Nov.2-12. Going to the first MVMCP on the 9th and will be in DHS on the 10th to see the Osbourne lights. We are really excited for this trip and it will be our DS first Disney trip. He just turned 1 in August.

I hope you all have great trips!!!! pixiedust:

:welcome: My youngest will be 13 months when we go and I can't wait to see his face. His sisters love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and when he sees it he actually giggles. Have a great time!

Good morning everyone! Update on my newest granddaughter,Caroline: she is doing pretty well but has some breathing issues and cannot eat naturally. I am here in Virginia, but haven't been able to see the baby yet. Oh forgot to say she was born yesterday morning. My daughter got to hold her yester evening for the first time and I will get to go into the ICU to see her today. The baby can't be stroked or cuddled so as not to over-stimulate her while she is concentrating on breathing. We feel so blessed and know that eventually her lungs will strengthen and she'll be fine. Thanks to all of you who prayed an d sent encouragement! It really meant a lot!

I'm on my iPad, so can't multi quote, but to all those who are so excited about getting close, I'll just say " dancing bananas" to you!!!!!

I use Shadowryter for my t-shirt designs and LOVE everything she does. And she is prompt!!

As far as maybe changing to January, it sounds like a good idea for your family. Just don't leave our November family!

Okay, I'm off to do a little baby shopping and then to go to the birthing center. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Congratulations! I'm so glad everything is going well. I'll keep praying. Baby shopping is sooooo fun! I love the name it was on our list but DH chose Lydia instead. One day he just started talking to my belly calling her Lydia and that was that.

We are surprising our kids (DD12, DS 10 DD 7) too. My Wife wants to wait until the morning of our flight. However we have to be up at 4am to get to the airport. Not sure what to tell the as we wake them up. Its also their first plane flight.

Any idea's

I would give them at least a days notice since you have to wake them up so early. Then again they might be to excited to sleep. When we surprised our DD we gave her a weeks notice. That way she could talk about it and plan the rides she wanted to ride. I'm no help sorry.

We are also surprising our kids. We will check them out of school after lunch with the whole "the van is packed, we are leaving right now". We will be there on their birthday! We will have kept it a secret for almost a year!

That is exciting!!! Have a blast!

Hello everyone! I'm new (and late!) to the thread!

My Husband and I are spending the first week of our honeymoon at Disney! We are staying at POFQ from Nov 10-16th :) we can't wait!!:cool1:

:welcome: and congrats!

Happy Friday all! We're getting closer and closer to our trips! :cool1:

An earlier question about spending money made me think about the types of things that we may buy while we are at WDW and I was curious about what kind of things you like to bring back from a trip? :confused3

I typically have the goal that whatever we get has to be unique to the trip. I don't want to get something that can be had at the local Disney Store in the mall or online or any other store for that matter. I was rather fond of the dated merchandise on our last trip and plan to get some items from that collection this time as well.

Off of the top of my head I know we're planning on doing the pressed coins as a cheap and fun souvenir/activity for the girls. We'll also obviously be doing character autographs. My wife typically likes to get a pullover hoodie and I'm usually in the market for a polo shirt. We're doing BBB for DD2, so she'll get a dress during that trip. I'm probably going to get another watch, particularly if I can find a deal like I did last time (spend $25 in the store get a watch for $15). A handful of stuffed animals will accompany us home I'm sure, as will some household goods. Since we're getting PP+ we'll also be bringing home tons of pictures from rides, meals and various locations around the parks too. :thumbsup2

What about you? Is there anything you collect or desire to bring home each trip or if this is your first trip, anything you think you want? :confused3

I am having the kids silhouettes done and I know pin buying and trading will be involved. We will also do SOTMK and get a card or two. Tons of pix are all I need. We are having our sons first haircut done and I know he gets ears. I just want to be there now!

I'm doing the paid-in-full dance! :cool1: Only 53 days until I am back at POFQ!!!

:cool1:

Will any of you be at the world on thanksgiving day? If so, what are your plans..where will you be eating a thanksgiving meal and which park will you be at? I have no clue what to do on that day and idk how crowded the parks get...

We will be at MK on thanksgiving. We have a 7pm ressie at CRT. I hear MK will be a zoo but it is all part of the experience in my book.

I just wanted to jump in on the thread. We just planned our Nov trip.. we will be at AKV CL from Nov 25- 30!! I love that time of year at Disney because of all the Christmas decorations. This will be our 2nd time for the Christmas season..

Congrats on scoring BOG!!!

what are silhouettes??

when do the halloween decorations officially come down? We are going on the 4-11. im curious if we will get to see both and will the castle be lit up with the icicles once the first mvmcp happens even if its not a party night?

You might not see the Halloween decor it should be almost all gone by the time you get there on the 4th since the last MNSSHP is on the 2nd and the first MMVCP is on the 9th. But will see the castle lights

Fun! Does she know at all? My kids know that we're going to Disney but think we'll be at POR the whole time. They have no clue we're moving to a Lion King suite on day 4. Can't wait to see their reactions.

She knows we are going, but thinks we are staying at ASMovies. We are suprising her with AoA LM. We are also suprising her with BBB on the day we go to park fare as a birthday present.

Is anyone surprising their kids? My DD went for the first time two years ago when she was two and she can't wait to go back. She knows we are going but obviously doesn't understand exactly when so we were thinking of surprising her that morning when we wake her up to go. Her and I watched some videos of kids getting surprised and she loved it. Just wondering if anyone can share some ideas, suggestions, or their plans! Thanks!

My DD knows we are going, but there are a few suprises mixed in.

We will be arriving Thanksgiving day. We plan on ordering a pizza or eating at AoA. We land around 2:45 so we may eat then head over to DHS for osborne lights. We did't plan much as we know it will be crowded.

We will be there on Turkey Day! Our dinner plans are for Cape May Cafe. We tentatively have AK planned for that day, but we are still debating that.

If we change our trip my hours to go jumps from 1546 to 2912 :scared:

I don't know if I can do it...

If I do this for my kid, I'm automatically crowned DIS Mother of the Year! I'm self glossing... :lmao:

Now If I can just keep my secret a secret till then! ;)

Great idea! How surprised they will be!

I can totally relate to the keeping a secret thing ::yes::.

We decided to surprise our DD5 because we didn't want her getting all excited about going when my 3 nieces are not. They have all been twice already, but this time my DH is going (1st trip / 2nd try, long story) and he just wanted it to be us, so my sister, 3 nieces and parents are not going. Although my BFF, her daughter and her parents are going at the same time. It's a surprise for BFF's daughter too.

Since myself, DH, BFF & her dad are all bowlers and often travel for tournaments, we are going to tell the girls (when it is closer) that they are going to a tournament with us. We are driving down from New Jersey, leaving on Friday, Nov 9th and planning on staying in a hotel somewhere in South Carolina. We are not sure if we are going to tell them on Saturday morning that we are actually going to Disney (we have "Surprise We Are Going To Disney" shirts made) or just let them figure it out when we pull into All Star Movies!

Glad to hear of all the surprises, hope everyone posts pictures and reactions after the big reveal!
