I'm a little worried about airfare especially with the gas increases. Anyone booked that piece yet? I was looking at remaining seats on some of the flights and there were a few that looked almost sold out already!!!!!

We're flying Southwest, and they haven't opened the flights for the end of November yet. October just opened up on February 20th, so I'm sure I'll be booking soon, though!

So far, the prices on Southwest have been pretty typical. I haven't seen any crazy increases yet.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

For some reason I woke up with those "Disney butterflies" this morning. I guess Mickey is trying to tell me to start working on those ADRs. :rotfl:

worried here too- I tried checking SW last night, but not open yet for our dates. hopefully soon. Everything else I am checking is like $400 RT from DFW. Ouch! I have the option to fly out of DFW or Love Field, and still everything is insane. We really prefer to fly direct and will pay a little more for it, but it's crazy right now. We will be waiting a bit. If i find something under $300, we will book, that's my "reserve". I remember when we used to get to WDW for $200 RT. Not anymore.

Hi everybody! I thought I had already subscribed to this thread..but had the laptop in the shop a while back and lost all my subscriptions:confused3, then I forgot about it! LOL! So,..I usually start planning for our Nov trips about 6 months out, but I want to start a wee bit earlier, just for peace of mind and to stay on top of pins or discounts. This will be the 3rd year in a row we have went the week before Thanksgiving (Nov 10-17th)...it'll be me,hubby and our 3 kids. I am pretty sure we will do the BC again this year....it's one of our favorite places to be!! We love having the option to walk to Epcot, HS and not have to rely on a mono or bus everyday, for each park. I will probably book tomorrow-since the site is down today. Maybe something fabulous is in the works!!!popcorn:: We'll see!!!
We usually stay until the Sunday before Thanksgiving, but last year we decided that we really didnt need to do it--parks were already filling up earlier and we only have a few hours before our flight, so we will save the $$ for that extra night, and just do a later flight home.
Hoping we all get Pixie dust for this trip!:tinker:pixiedust:

us too...we fly out of Houston(IAH), and it is all around $360 right now...that is painful to me,..I remember vividly when we first started taking the kids and it was around $178 and FREE CHECKED BAGS!!! I hate to say this, but "those were the good ole days" :rotfl: I will be happy with anything under $250 at this point! But, hopefully the closer we get, the better prices will pop up.

Which brings me to another question...How far out do y'all book your airfare? Especially you Texans? We have found that around the 12 week mark we have gotten our very, very best deals... I know that is kinda close for some folks, but if I know for sure I am getting a RT ticket for $100-$150 less, per person, I can wait!

We drive to Disney. Only about 7 hours away. It is always sticker shock to me to see what those that fly have to pay in plane fair to get your families to Disney. I hope the increase in gas does not cause an increase in ticket cost.

I have been wondering where that magic cut off point for hubby and I will be with driving. I keep hearing rumors of $5.00 a gallon by summer. We will still go but may have to make a change or to with what we are planning.

Well, welcome back and happy planning. :goodvibes

Thank you!! If we were 7 hours, we would drive for sure!! But ,we are 16+!! so, forget it! LOL!! We just can't drive non-stop and by the time we pay the gas, extra meals, and a hotel,...plus the hassle of luggage in and out, it doesn't pan out..$ wise or convenience....
I actually did flight pricing this morning...we are still looking at $421 for November...I know it'll drop, but GEEEZ!!

We went the end of September in 2010 for $160 on AA!!! I had programmed the deal alerts on my computer and it the middle of the night the airplane woke me up flying across the screen. :lmao:
It will be SO hard from me to pay $300, :headache: but I think I agree with you that might be the goal prices for us too. I would much rather fly AA, but if I can get a decent price on SW and not pay for bags......

I used to not worry about it and just sit and wait, $200 was my goal price or around there...... But, with the holiday, I'm not sure how long I will wait. One thing I do is keep checking seat availibilty. If they start looking full, I get nervous.

For WL, there is not a separate check in, you check in at the main front desk and then head to the Villas area. There is a separate mini lobby down there etc.
...

Hi exwdwcm. Sorry i'm so late in responding to your messages -- i've been away for a while and have a lot of DIS catching up to do! :goodvibes

Thank you so much for the great info you've given me...including your later post explaining how the points work. I think i've got a pretty good grasp of how DVC works now. :thumbsup2

That and JetBlue have both been driving me crazy. Both said when they opened October, they would open up to Thanksgiving and neither one goes past Oct 27/Nov 2. I have my card primed and ready to go and I can't go anywhere :rotfl:

Hi guys! Phew there is alot to catch up on! I will try my best to do so. I havent really been planning much as 'life' hast gotten in the way. Our heat pump is in, windows coming next week and we are in the middle of redoing our bathroom. I HAVE to move disney back to top priority! I am revising our plan yet again and probably will start planning on monday. I just need to find out when my parents are leaving before I book my flights!

Thants funny cuz I am ready to book too and duh! Only open up to Nov 2nd!

Hi mommyof3. I'm happy to see you back. :goodvibes Sounds like you have been busy. Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way of Disney? :rotfl:

Hi everyone!! We drive (DH hates to fly), but I have been watching SW for a trip I'm taking in July. My mom called me all in a frenzy Monday and said gas is going up, airline prices were going up and I'd better get my tickets. Well, I forgot, and I'm glad I did. I just looked today and they actually went down from 6900 points per flight to 5340 per flight. Works for me! I think I'm going to purchase them tonight.

How far in advance does SW release their flight info? I'm also watching for February flights.

We fly out of Houston, too, and we're loyal Southwest fliers because my husband has the SW Visa. I always book as soon as I can, and then watch for sales. Last year, my Disney World refund covered half of our Disneyland trip.

I know if I just wait prices will go down, but I want the first direct flight of the day on our departure and the last direct flight of the day on our return. I hate worrying the flight will fill up, so I bite the bullet and book ASAP.

I wish we could drive, but my husband hates long car trips. We'd burn so many days traveling, too, and I'd rather spend every possible moment at Disney!

I totally understand. I think I'm going to book our flight today and just keep an eye on things. I'll be surprised if they go down anymore, but you never know. I'll just have to stalk it each week. :)

ETA: Booking for July trip to Dallas!

From Southwest -

On May 21, 2012, we will open our schedule for sale through January 4, 2013.

yeah, another week before Thanksgiving veteran- so did you find the crowds manageable that week in the past few years? What about Veterans Day, Jersey Week, Festival of the Masters and F&W affecting crowds? we are leaving that Saturday the 17th as well- I know it will already be packed by that Saturday, so we will try and fly out that afternoon. We are there at BLT Nov 9-17th, hoping to get a value for one night of the 8th and fly in late that night.

well hello fellow Texan! I was just in Houston for a Quince at St. Theresa near downtown- my cousins and aunt/uncle live down there. My Aunt is actually in Liperpool, but cousins all in Houston or TX City. ;)

I like to book airfare early, as early as 6 months out, but not sure this year with the crazy prices. I am going to use Bing travel, i think it has a predictor tool that helps tell you if you should book now or wait. Definitely will book by 2-3 months out at the latest. I have heard 3 months out is the sweet spot too. We fly AA a lot since we fly out of DFW and they are just crazy right now.

This is what we do. We book the first direct there and last direct home. DH likes to make the most out of our vacation :)

I'm not happy with the airfare situation either. I had to laugh out loud when I realized Southwest extended their schedule until exactly one day before we are supposed to leave (Nov. 3-11). I just want to book my airfare already! I'm looking at SW, US , or AirTran non-stop from PHL. If it is a substantial difference I will drive to Newark for JetBlue. We live closest to AC but I swore off Spirit Air a while back. Fingers crossed fares get better for all of us Nov. travelers.
