Wow.....I am so thankful that we are able to drive. :thumbsup2 We are only about 7 hours away.

Hi all!

Yup. We are 1 year away from our Disney vacation! I'm still beyond the 365-day mark, though. But I'm getting there! I keep reading about 'pin codes' and I'm wondering if they are different from the usual promotions that Disney offers via the WDW website. I understand that these 'pins' are exclusive to those who receive them through email and that it's a completely random thing. So my questions: Has anyone here received one? How do they work?:confused3
I have never gotten a pin code. It would be great to have one, if they do not offer FD.

UGH! Most of you can probably relate to my ridiculous feeling of YUCK this morning...

So its Jersey week in NJ meaning the kids had Thurs and Fri off of school (thus the reason Disney is busy this week with Jersey folks) for teacher's conventions. So the plan was to ship the 3 kids to Grandmas for the night and have date day/night with hubby. Much needed I should say. We haven't done this in a very long time.

Well hubby wakes up SCREAMING in pain. It was awful. Needless to say, we got our date day/night in the HOSPITAL. We get there at 9:20. Hubby has a kidney stone. OUCH! At 11ish I decide to head upstairs and go visit my 42 year old aunt who had open heart surgery this week. I get in the room, sit down for two seconds while the nurse is taking care of her, and I PASS OUT! Apparently I just would NOT come to until they used the smelling salts. Now I am in the ER since its code purple and they must check me over. I didn't get out until 8:30 last night!

Today I am nauseaus and light headed and DH is in pain. I am praying that my mother in law doesn't bring the kids back this morning but waits until dinner time at least. Isn't that awful. I miss them like heck but my couch sure looks good today!

I am so sorry y'all are not feeling well. Praying that you both get better soon. My fil has kidney stones often, so I know how much pain that can cause. My mil's blood pressure will some time dip low like that. My "low" is normal for everyone else.

OH MY!! Did they figure out what is going on with you? You and your family are in my prayers. I know you miss your kids......But here is to hoping your MIL keeps them until tomorrow. :wizard:
:thumbsup2
That's exactly what I was thinking.

Wow.....I am so thankful that we are able to drive. :thumbsup2 We are only about 7 hours away.

We are driving as well. We ran the numbers and it was cheaper for us to fly since we would have to check four bags. I guess we could fly Southwest, but I'm way to OCD for that. The last trip we had planned to WDW, I checked the flights daily. I like to know further in advance than 24 hours where we will be sitting on the plane. Which was a good thing b/c AA changed our flights and seats three different times without any given notice that they had. Luckily, b/c of that, when we cancled the trip, we got all of our money back for the airfare.

Depending on the direction we were driving, we could drive 7 hours and still be in Texas.:lmao: According to yahoo maps, our drive will take just over 17 1/2 hours. I'm just glad our mini van has a 6 disk DVD player in it.

I almost forgot. One year from today, we will be some where at WDW!! If all goes according to plan, we will have pulled into FW no later than 10 AM. If I still keep the ADR schedule that I have right now, we will be at DHS.

Well, one year from now I'll probably be doing just what I'm doing right now. :sad1: :rotfl: But I know your day will be just awesome. :thumbsup2

Hopefully, I won't be doing what I'm doing right now in a year. I'm playing around with double knitting while down loading Star Wars: the Old Republic so I can be apart of the beta stress test. I don't know if it's supposed to be a stress test for their servers or for my blood pressure, b/c this is taking FOREVER!!! I think my DH started the DL on my laptop around 2 PM and it's almost 6:30 PM here.

Ha! A year from now we will have just returned and probably put down a deposit or made a payment on our 2013 trip. :santa:

We applied for the Southwest 50,000 miles deal, so our tickets for our November 2012 trip are now free! :cool1: I love Southwest, but my kids are old enough that they don't need to sit next to me if that's how it pans out. If I had little ones, SW would make me nervous.

Hello again all!! School has been keeping me so busy that I haven't been on the boards like I had been. By this time next year, we will be in the minivan on our way to WDW!! Hopefully, free dining will be announced soon!! I think the waiting is giving me additional grey hairs, and I don't need any more that I already have. Luckily, there is so much planning to do that I hope the time flies.

This WDW trip is still over a year away and we are already planning our 2013 family vacation. The DH wants to take the DSs to CA to the redwood forest. I am hoping to sneak in a visit to DL, since we'll be so close and my DH is the only one that has been there.

I noticed you hadn't posted. Glad you're back!

Osborne Family Lights

mommyof3 you are gonna be seeing this real soon. :woohoo: The rest of us have a bit of a wait. :upsidedow

Yay! Thanks for sharing. I LOVE those lights! :lovestruc

When my daughter was a little girl Pooh was her favorite. Still is actually. :goodvibes

You know..... I really do believe that as long as we all keep talking and encouraging each other. This next year is probably going to go by fast. :thumbsup2

:laughing:Our little caboose loves Pooh, too! Still sleeps with him!

Happy Veteran's Day and 11.11.11 to you all!

My plan this weekend is to work on a souvenir piggy bank for the kiddo, we are rewarding him for doing chores without being asked.

Here's hoping it works. I told him if he is super good he could end up with more souvenir money than his daddy and I :goodvibes

You should take a pic of the piggy bank!

I have never gotten a pin and, to my knowledge, I've done everything to set myself up to get one....

UGH! Most of you can probably relate to my ridiculous feeling of YUCK this morning...

Wow.....I am so thankful that we are able to drive. :thumbsup2 We are only about 7 hours away.

I'm thankful we're able to drive, too. We're about 8-ish hours away. I haven't flown since we moved to Georgia 13 1/2 years ago! Going to fly with my newly-licensed pilot son soon, though! DH and DS16 went with him last week. DD and I will hopefully go in the next few weeks!

Ha! A year from now we will have just returned and probably put down a deposit or made a payment on our 2013 trip. :santa:

53 weeks from right now, we will be wandering around DTD, maybe going up in the big balloon!!!! Can't WAIT!!!:woohoo:

Anyone ever been to Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club? How about Flying Fish at the Boardwalk? We were going to try Captain's Grille, but now we're thinking Flying Fish instead (I know it's 2TS). Anyone been to both? Can you compare them for me? Is Flying Fish worth the 2TS?

Oh my!! I'm gone for a couple days, and I have a ton of posts to catch up on!! Love this thread!!

So today my daughter decided she wants to go to the Halloween Party instead of the Christmas Party at Disney in 2012. Since, this is her Communion present from us, we decided she can choose. Which means we are now looking into September to book...the good news is that its two months sooner and the bad news is that I may be leaving you all ....

Anyone been in Sept? Pros/cons?

We went last week of August in 2011 and we know all about the heat lol

I would love to go to the MNNSHP one year. Whatever y'all decide, I'm sure you will have a great trip.

Actually, one year from today we will be heading home from Disney:eek: I am going to be so depressed when the trip is over and all the planning is done.

But then you can start planning the next trip!! :rotfl:

I got my mickey mail yesterday!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!   that means its getting closer! 3 weeks!! Now that I am feeling tons better today, I am sooooooo excited!!!!! TMI alert- I wnet to disney last year for our first trip and battling a similar are infection and it wouldnt go away! So yea Disney pain free to me will be a dream come true and I will be on :cloud9: the whole time!

So happy you are feeling better. :goodvibes Yay!! for Mickey mail!! :cool1:

I hope I will get the chance to plan another Disney trip after this one but I am thinking it may not happen. That is probably part of the reason I am being so obsessive with this trip. We are not going to be going back every year or every other year this is pretty much it at least for all 4 of us to go as a family.

I hope this trip is magical for your family and has all the pixie dust you could hope for. :wizard:

Maybe I will go get some supplies to start my planning binder today. I know I could probably just use apps on my phone but I think making the binder will be fun. Anyone else make planning binders or books?

I love my binders, planners, spreadsheets, etc. :lovestruc I may be a little OCD when it comes to Disney planning. :rolleyes1

DH decided that were going to start using our disney visa for bills and such so we can earn those disney dollars, BUT he said he didn't think we could go next year  Then he said but I know you want to and I said yes, I want to go during the christmas season;). Just hoping that disney releases a free dining offer for November before the end of this year:thumbsup2 , you know, so I can throw that at him as an incentive:rolleyes1

I do the same thing. I use my Disney Visa for all my monthly bills, including my house note, and pay it off each month. I've racked up over 100 Disney points in about 9 months. I'm guessing I'll have about 250 points by the time we go next year. That will make for some fun souvenir shopping!! :woohoo:

This WDW trip is still over a year away and we are already planning our 2013 family vacation. The DH wants to take the DSs to CA to the redwood forest. I am hoping to sneak in a visit to DL, since we'll be so close and my DH is the only one that has been there.

That is exactly what I'm planning for 2013!! I want to fly out to CA, visit some family we have out there, see the Redwoods, go to DL, and maybe fit a few other things in.

My plan this weekend is to work on a souvenir piggy bank for the kiddo, we are rewarding him for doing chores without being asked.

Here's hoping it works. I told him if he is super good he could end up with more souvenir money than his daddy and I :goodvibes

My kids get a star for each day they are good, mainly in the morning. They are like me, and hate to get up in the morning. I was late for work all the time til I came up with this idea. For every 5 stars they get a Disney dollar. I actually printed out Disney money that a DISigner on these boards had. If they misbehave, they don't get their star, and if they continue to misbehave after been warned, I take stars away. On the other hand, I've been known to give an extra star if they are extra helpful. They should each have about 50 to 75 Disney dollars by the time we leave.

I have never gotten a pin and I have done everything possible to set myself up for getting one. :confused3

Same here! :confused3

UGH! Most of you can probably relate to my ridiculous feeling of YUCK this morning...

I hope you and your DH are feeling better. :grouphug: I had kidney stones twice this year. They are miserable. I remember being curled up in the fetal position for hours. Hope you are ok.

And on to more fun topics LOL! Now that we are considering September instead of November for our trip. In order to make that happen, we would have to fly mid week to mid week. If we went in November, we could drive since we'd have the extra days off of school/work to get down there, but if we went Sept, we wouldn't.

So now that I am looking into airfare, the cheaper airlines don't have their September rates out yet. This stinks. I want to book like yesterday!!!!!!!

Anyone have a favorite airline??? We booked JetBlue last time and it was fine, but I hear Southwest is even cheaper. Cheaper is better for us :)

Continental is giving us a price of $1,152....which isn't TOO bad, but since we were going to drive, I hate paying that!

I love SW. They are my favorite airline, and I fly them any time I get a chance.

Wow.....I am so thankful that we are able to drive. :thumbsup2 We are only about 7 hours away.

We are 11 hours, but we still drive. We drive 8 hours day in one day, then the remaining 3 the next. We arrive at Disney around 11am. On the way home, we drive straight through. Last year, we got home at 7:30pm, left everything in the van, and went straight to bed. I remember calling my parents and saying, "We're home. We're going to bed." We were exhausted.

Depending on the direction we were driving, we could drive 7 hours and still be in Texas.:lmao: According to yahoo maps, our drive will take just over 17 1/2 hours. I'm just glad our mini van has a 6 disk DVD player in it.

WOW! I'm not sure I could make that drive. I love my mini van though!! :lovestruc

Could it be? :confused3 Yes, I believe it is!! :woohoo: I am finished with my Christmas shopping!! :santa:

I was off work yesterday so I took the kids to school, and got all of my shopping done!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I buy gifts for my parents, aunt, and DMIL to give to our kids. They pay us back, but it makes it easier on them (all they have to do is wrap), and ensures the kids will get something they will love that I don't mind them having! :rotfl:

I had to run by Walmart and pick up the last little item this morning, but I got it! Now I can enjoy the holidays!

My boss left today for Disney. I did all of her planning, made her ressies, ADRs, photograph books, etc. so I sure hope her trip goes smoothly. :goodvibes

On a totally OT note: LSU is winning! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hope everyone has a great rest of the weekend! :wizard:

I am pretty sure we decided to go in September. I feel awful that its supposed to my DD's Communion gift and yet I am making the plans and not taking her wants into consideration. The problem though is that if we do September, we will have to fly and well that adds at least 1K to our trip that we didn't plan on using.

We are 18 hours away -- we drive right through but with stops for gas and food it comes to 20 hours.

I came up with a plan that if we fly this year, we'll use our mileage. We were going to use our mileage towards our trip, but that won't be possible. BUT next year (2013) when we go, we may go Deluxe and drive. We'll see. I am already hoping that we get a bounceback offer.

We ate at Captain's Grille last year. It was good. Their service was awesome, better than the food that I remember!

Flying with your son!! That would be so awesome! :cool1: :cool1:

I haven't been to the restaurants, but a co-worker of mine went to Flyin' Fish in February. He's kind of a food snob, and he said it was the best service he's ever had in his life, and the food was excellent. It's definitely on our must try list.

I'm sure your DD will understand. :grouphug: Mine don't care when we go as long we go!

Good morning everyone!

I'm sure your DD will understand. :grouphug: Mine don't care when we go as long we go!

My daughter really wants to go to the Halloween Party, otherwise she wouldn't care either. Since its her Communion present, I want to do what she wants.

My son has his Communion in two years, and already decided he wants to go for Star Wars weekend! Can't wait to plan that LOL!

I LOVE LOVE talking about dining choices.

One of my decisions on one of these of trips, will be to stay non-deluxe AND get the deluxe dining plans so we can try some of these signature restaurants.

My kids, on the other hand, want to do the "signature" character dining......but the deluxe dining plan would give us even more options!

Each trip we try to do something "extra" now. This trip will be Halloween Party AND a meal at the castle.

If free dining is offered I think you can pay a small extra fee per person and add the DDP. Does anyone know this for sure?

I did the math awhile ago but it was more than $500 for us to upgrade

Wow!! I do not have anything against the dining plans. We use the regular dining plan all the time. But I do miss just being able to walk into a resturant when you were ready to eat. I don't like sitting here wondering if I am going to get LeCieller this far out. :rotfl2:

Morning!

Thoughts about Southwest - the day & time seem to make a difference when you purchase. Supposedly, Tuesday around 3pm is the best option. I played with this a little last week & it was true. Same flight went from $89 one way to $139 between Tuesday afternoon & Tuesday evening.

SW & AirTran (or whatever they are now) are our only nonstop options. Won't ever fly AirTran after our last debacle with them - vastly changed flights with no notification and a late, then on time & finally early flight out of Atlanta. DS & were sprinting through the airport to reach the gate after we had been assured a 2 hour wait & went to get something to eat. :headache:

We have a beautiful fall day here! I hope everyone has an awesome day :goodvibes

We love the meals... we do 2 sit down meals a day, earliest possible ADRs in the morning and dinner. For lunch we just wing it. We always do a character meal for breakfast. It's a fun way to start the day.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

Good morning! :)

Yes, that's what we did last year. We stayed at the POP, received free quick service dining, and paid to upgrade to the deluxe. It was around $500 for our family (DS was 3 at the time so he was free.) I kept every meal and snack receipt, and added them up when we got home. We more than got our money's worth with all the meals and snacks we got.

Not having the dining plan is not an option for us. I don't think DH would go otherwise! :rotfl: But I can understand what you mean. I wasn't sure how I would like have so many ADRs last time, but it worked out ok. I figured we have to eat, and at least this way, I wasn't one of those people being told "it will be a two hour wait" at O'hana's! It would be nice to be able to just walk in to any restaurant when you felt like it though!

As for making ADR's, that's just one more fun part of planning for me! :rotfl:

I'm glad to know that about SW. I posted something about the best day and time to purchase airfares last week, but wasn't sure if it was true. Thanks for checking it out for us!! :woohoo:
