Are rates for ALAMO p/u & d/o usually so much higher if picking up at Dolphin or Car Care Center rather than airport??? I'm still coming up $80 higher for off-airport locations

If anyone is interested, an Orlando Magic Card code oi1054 (I think you can register & print a card online-you may need to present card-or order snail mail) plus a cpn code from Mousesavers gets a DOLLAR deal starting at $104 for wk before T'gvng or $119 for their 'compact or larger-we pick' special/airport location.

I am down to $101 for an economy (just two of us) car with Alamo for 11/1 - 11/9 for pick up/dop off at MCO. That is all taxes and fees. It is using the walmart code of 428448 so there is a free additional driver and the $35 off coupon (AD2359FDF) . Try also putting AA8X in the "code" box.

Don't forget to clear cookies from your computer each time you log into alamo. I THINK that makes a difference.

It seems you can DROP OFF at a location other than airport for no additional charge & still get a lower rate as long as you PICK-UP at the airport...we may do this & just do ME for return trip.

Also, anyone know what DAILY FREQUENT TRAVELER SURCHARGE is? This extra $5.25 appears on my confirmation.

My e-confirmation just arrived from ALAMO ($138 incl tax/fees for Compact 11/13 for a week) & indicates the $35 OFF & the AA8X are related to an American Airlines promotion...but I have NO AA ID. Will this be a problem??

I finally made my car reservation for Nov. I have been watching the rates drop for the last couple of weeks but didn't want to take the leap. I saw this post and used all the above numbers and got a full size for 11/18 (9am) to 11/25 (6pm) - so a week and a day over Thanksgiving - for a total of $167. Thank you for the codes. I tried using my insiders number and the $35 coupon and it was $16 more! Hoping it drops a little more but happy with the amount.

Just rechecked my minivan reservation and I was able to get it down to $303.92 for 14 days !!
I am renting a minivan from ALAMO, using the COSTCO Travel site, from Nov 4-18.
I also checked what it would be just going through ALAMO using the Insiders Club & Costco ID 7014627 & code AF4499SDY. The van would have been $348.96 for the same time frame.
I never knew about how great the Costco travel site was until I saw it here.

You must have some Airline frequent traveler number entered on your Alamo Insider profile. If you go to the "Save time" link from the email confirmation you can review that and if you want to remove the Frequent Traveler info, just change the drop down where is shows (Select) instead of whatever airline it shows and then blank out the member number. You can also go ahead and add an additional driver to that's already stored with the reservation if you want (I did).

The $35 is NOT related to American Airlines.... It is a general code.
The AA8X was put in their by Alamo when I typed in 428448 (walmart code). It was not something I put in. So, not sure why it would show as American Airlines as I am not an AA frequent flier or anything .

The mini van through costco has to be a 2 week rental. Ours is 10 day and they want over $600 for it. I kept back tracking to the 4th and it just kept on getting higher until it hit the 2 week mark.

You can join AA frequent flyer program for free and print off the ID card to take with you if you are concerned about the code. However, from what I'm reading this is a general code. Maybe it was tied to AA at one time? Or just log in to Alamo Insider and use the $35 off code there. It is good thru Dec 15. You will probably need to change the Alamo ID code to the Walmart code to get the same base rate.

I believe that anyone can check the rates on Costco's website. There is a travel link at the top. You don't have to put in your member number until you are reserving.

My Alamo rental dropped another $2.47. LOL When I first made the reservation it was over $230 for a compact. Now at $84.27 for a midsize.

Ugh -- no matter what I put in, I can't get it for under $700 with Alamo. Nov 10th 10am til Nov.22 9am for a mini van.

I have one for under $400 with Budget for 8 days right now but hoping to get a similar rate for the full 12 days if I can find it.

I did look at the Costco travel site & you're right - minivan is over $700.00 I also looked at the Alamo Insiders using the Costco ID & Code - again - the same price.
I guess you do have to book for 2 weeks. I am so sorry that you can't get the same deal that I did. But keep looking - you never know.

One thing to try is using a different computer. Saturday night I saw a ford fusion on Alamo for $85 from 11/5 to 11/10. And I looked the next day it went to $128 and has been since, so tonight I tried and it was the same., until I used my tablet to look it up and I got it for $86!

I redid my resi today also with the Alamo $35 off insiders deal. I dropped a premium @ 22 a day for 10 days for a full size @ 12 a day. I had only picked the premium because is was cheaper than the full size when I booked that deal.

I'll check a few more times before we go, but this is the best deal we have seen in a while.

Thanks to this thread I got a great deal at Alamo. We were originally only going to rent from the car care center for the few days that we needed a car to go to Universal, but thanks to some great tips I was able to find a great rate for the length of our stay. This will be our 1st trip without using Disney transportation. I'm looking forward to the flexibility.

I got a midsize rental for 11/4-11/13 through Alamo using BJ's codes ID: 7015223 and Coupon: AD8Z32SDH. Total with taxes $125.76, a price I can totally live with.

I wouldn't have even thought of using a BJ's coupon if it wasn't for this thread.

If you really want to snag the cheaper rate, you should check the alamo website 2x a day. I know that is extreme, but they do change their prices throughout the day. Earlier this week I checked in the morning and the compact was $119 before taxes. I checked again at night and it had dropped. I am now paying $79.15 for a compact car. Another idea is to rent 2 smaller cars. Parking is free at the parks, so it would only be added gas/tolls. That might be a lot cheaper than the van.
