OK here's some info on what I know about the PIN I just received.
I have multiple emails connected to WDW. My email (hotmail) that I have had since I was in high school I pretty much stopped using because whenever I talk to CMs they always make mistakes in it and never got anything in the email that I was supposed to. So I started using my "professional" email (gmail). I also have 2 phone numbers. One is my "home" number (my parents' house) and the other is my cell phone, which is my primary line.
In my Gmail account, I get emails from "Disney Insider" and "Disney Destinations." The Disney Insider is kinda like a monthly news letter about lil info, has little games in it, trivia, contests, etc.
The Disney Destinations is also kinda like a monthly news letter (though I don't get it every month). In there's a lil bit of info about WDW, maybe
Disneyland and Adventures by Disney. Also if there is a discount out there, it's in this letter also (a discount for EVERYONE).
In my Hotmail account, I only get Disney Insider.
So Thursday I got home, and check my Hotmail account and there was an email from "Disney Destinations." So I opened it and it was a PIN code. I immediately called to price it out. I gave the CM the code and she looked it up. She had me verify my info (name, address, phone number) and went and priced it out. I checked the email with the PIN and it stated my name was "Becky" (and under my "home" phone).
So yesterday morning I called to recheck the price I was given (with no discount on tickets, its 50% off the hotel). I didn't have my PIN because I was driving to work. I put in my "home" phone and when the CM picked up, I told her I had received a PIN in the email but didn't have access to it because I was on the road. She searched my name "Becky" and said there was no "Becky" with that phone number in their system. She did say there was a "Rebecca" but it was with my cell phone number and there was no PIN under that. So I told her I'd call back with the PIN then.
Which I did. Again, I put in my "home" number and gave the CM my PIN when she picked up. She asked me to verify my info. Then she asked me if I had moved recently. I told her I have lived in the same house my entire life. She kept asking me over and over again if I had moved from another state. I kept responding with no. So she put me on hold and came back and said they changed my info on the computer. The phone number and email were correct.
She then priced it out, and it came out ther same. She was very sweet. She offered me to put it on hold, which I could do for 14 days without having to make a deposit (I told her I was waiting for the cash from the other person who was going with me). She said if I didn't make the deposit in the 14 days, I'd lose the package (but of course could rebook, but no guarentee what I wanted would be avail). So I went a head and put it on hold. I put my mom's name on the account, because I know my parents are good for the money.
BUT even if my dad decides against my mom going (because of a lot of factors that come into play), with this new price, I can afford to go by myself. I still don't want too, but I am going no matter what!
Anyways, she told me I would receive a confirmation in my email within 2 hours (which I was supposed to get when I went in 2006, but like I said, they always messed up my email). I received my confirmation.
Now as to how I got it, I don't know. I never inquired using "Becky" or my "home" number or my Hotmail account either. I read on another thread maybe part of the Mickey Moms Club, but people got it without that. This probably comes to show you that it's the luck of the draw.
I can say this for sure though, I definately think it had something to do with me registering with WDW.com (DisneyShopping.com), ordering a vacation DVD, or signing up for as many emails as I can get. This is the only way they would really have access to my Hotmail account (since it was always wrong), and my name as "Becky" instead of "Rebecca" (I've always booked under Rebecca because I usually book plane tickets w/Disney also, and my name has to appear as it does in my lisence for those).
