NOVEMBER 2008 Code Watch...

Thanks for answering! So, another question! :goodvibes If I stay on top of this, and get the code as soon as it's released at mousesavers, what do you think are the chances of something being available at CBR? Last yr I got my snail mail notice, I thought in Aug but not sure, didn't book til almost mid Sep and had no problem getting a room. Hmmm. This yr I plan on calling as soon as I see it and I know what to look for and have a couple day jump with the disney visa hopefully. I think I have a good chance of getting a room, don't you think? I mean there should be something when they first start and at a mod. resort.

All this waiting and thinking about discounts and what will or won't happen is driving my crazy!

I don't know what the chances are for CBR. I only stay at values. But I never heard anyone having problems with it.

You cannot always apply a discount code to your existing room or package. You can only do this if there is "space" left at that resort under that discount. I know the WL generally has little avail if any when it comes to discount codes. So if you book WL now, and a code comes out you may not be able to get your room with a code.

Before I knew that discount codes existed, I had booked Pop Century for 2004, standard room. When the code came out and I discovered it, I went to add it to my room that I had. I couldn't. They had no standard rooms left. I either had to move to an AllStar or upgrade to a preferred room.

I don't understand this "cancel and rebook" stuff. From what I know you can call and change your vacation info anytime up until 45 days without having a penalty fee. And I don't belive making changes is "cancel and rebooking."

Oh man...I hope that in some way whatever does come out for November I will be able to use at WL.---maybe I will be able to upgrade to a deluxe room???...is that a possibility? Or am I really pushing the dream envelope there?

I'm taking my son and My parents (their first trip since the 70's!!) from October 30-November 10th (ish) Happily we can work around code dates, so I'm really hoping!

(We can do AAA too, but I'm hoping for a better code...)

Does anyone know if traditionally there are discounts during this period?

:flower3:

*Robin*-- a really helpful site for me to look at the past discounts was mousesavers.com-- go to historical information on past discounts.

good luck to you!

I have already upgraded from PC to WL, now hoping a code comes out so I can stay at a monorail resort!!! :santa: :cool1:

The WL is a wonderful resort, but it is not on the monorail. There is a boat to the MK and bus service to the other resorts.

Jen, I've been to Mousesavers tons of times and have never looked at the historical information!! I'm off to do that now, thanks so much for pointing it out! :flower3:

Waiting too. :rolleyes1 In 2006, I booked my trip with an AAA discount. As soon as I saw the discount code hit, called my AAA agent and they were able to add this to my reservation as well & saved another $400 or so. :woohoo:

Just want to reiterate that even AAA discounts are not guaranteed! I thought for sure when I called in May that I could get a AAA discount at AKL for December but there are no rooms left. Just want people to realize this so they don't put off their ressie until it's too late! :sad2:

if you already have a room booked and a discount code comes out - how do you go about changing or cancelling or what to add the code to the room. I heard pofq usually does not apply to these codes...should i even have my hopes up?

You find out what the 3-letter code is, call and ask them to apply it to your reservation. Each resort will have only a certain amount of rooms available with the discount for each date.

Hi all!

Joining in...just bought plane tickets for a trip with just my husband and myself in November, and am beginning the search for discounts...this will be our first trip away together since we had our first child 8 years ago. This will be like a second honeymoon for us.

We would love to stay at Port Orleans Riverside (we stayed at Dixie Landings for our honeymoon 13 years ago...) not sure what kinds of discounts are ever available for Port Orleans...

I have an annual pass for the first time this year, and am brand new at trying to find discounts, so please bear with my silly questions and general "newbie-ness". We bought a very, very small DVC contract this year to use for our family vacation, but the contract is so small it won't cover points for this special trip away with my husband.

If anyone has advice for me, I'd appreciate it! :lovestruc

For those of you experts...

which discount is best? I know we're waiting for the magic release date(s) in August, but which ones are typically best?

I'm looking for room-only...

is the best one

AP discount
Disney Visa discount
GP Discount

Or are they all about the same?

Thanks for any info!

Chris

Just booked the BC for Veterans Day weekend through AAA, although it's not looking like much of a discount to me. $1123.86 with tax for standard view for three nights  Before tax price is $333 a night. I hope a code comes along and makes it better. This is a quick trip down for us and we're taking DD13's best friend with us, making me upgrade from our WL CY view room. That was $1002 with tax though, good grief! When I called this afternoon, the only rooms available period were a CY view and a woods view bunk room, even at rack. I don't think there'll be anything left for thoe who wait to book with a code. :(

same here, i'm going for 2 days during jersey week and its looking like all the deluxes are filling up fast. glad i booked my MK view room a couple of months ago because there arent any left now! hoping that a code comes out but not that hopeful, i dont see them bringing any codes out if there arent any rooms to apply them to!

You're right. On a whim this morning I went online to price out upgrading from our Garden View room to Club Level Lagoon View, and the only things available for our stay are Garden & Lagoon Views. About a week ago there were still Theme Park Views as well as Lagoon Club Level Views, so for some reason they are finally starting to fill up all of a sudden!

Oh well, that's $1,000+ I just saved myself and I don't mind the Garden View.

Has anyone ever used a Disney Visa Package code after already having a trip booked?

I booked my trip a while ago. I put a $200 deposit using my Dis Visa card, but all the payments I have made since were by check. I have less than 1/2 of my total balance left to pay.

If a code comes out for Dis Visa cardholders - do you have to pay for the WHOLE trip using the cc or can it just be a deposit? If so, do they mail me a check for the $2000 I already paid?

I want to be prepared for when the time comes!!!
