November 19, 2009 3-day Wonder Cruise

Hiya,
I am up at my normal insomniac hour lol! We are all exhausted! We got home at 8 ish last night after spending the day at the airport Hyatt. I still have a bit of sea legs and my feet got really swollen from all the walking this week.
I am so glad we all got together to meet and am sorry we didn't have enough time to meet although I did see Ellen(VET) and Mike (Mainsteet Mugs and family) and a few others.
Well I hope you had a magical time. We have about 500 plus pics and about 3or so hours of video. :surfweb: My little one Claire made friends with about half the ship. People young and old were coming up to us on the cruise and saying hi to Claire lol! We also met the cruise director for the second time and he got such a kick out of Claire he invited us to Studio Sea to meet the cast of all the shows! It was truly a Magical Moment we will never forget...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Even though the three of us were not officially part of either the magnet or FE exchanges, it was a blast giving some little pieces of fun out to the few rooms that were were able to find out about, as well as get some fun gifts and magnet at our rooms. My wife's mom put it the best way, "it's like Christmas everyday in the middle of the ocean!" (I really dislike the term mother-in-law, it has too many negative connotations) It was especially fun hearing wife's mom tell us about when "Ellen met Ellen"

We has a great time and will definitely return for another cruise as soon as we can!

BTW, for those of you looking to put a face to the poster, I'm not too embarrassed to tell you that if you were at the sail away party, I was on stage...Yes folks I was the cowboy dancing (horribly) during YMCA!! :woohoo: LOL

Anyways, thank you to all...hope to See you all real soon!!!

Todd

Welcome back everyone.

I hope everyone is safe and sound. I'm not sure how the FE exchange went, but three of the eight staterooms that signed up didn't exchange magnets in the end. This was our fourth cruise and this hasn't happened before.

Some DCL guests were robbed at gunpoint in Nassau on Friday.

18 tourists in shotgun terror

BY TANEKA THOMPSON

TWO men wielding shotguns robbed 18 tourists who were on an eco-tour yesterday.

The brutal thugs also gun-butted a Bahamian woman during the robbery, however her injuries are not life-threatening. She was the only one hurt during the hold-up.

The visitors, who were passengers on the Disney and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, were part of two separate groups touring the Bahamas Association for Social Health's (BASH) Earth Village in the former Perpall Tract Wellfield area when they were attacked at about 1pm.

The men tied up the Bahamian tour guide with the first group and ordered them to the ground before robbing them of money, passports, cell phones, credit cards and personal items.

During the robbery, a second group of visitors approached and were also held up.

National Security Minister Tommy Turnquest, flanked by Commissioner of Police Reginald Ferguson, several senior police officers and Ministry of Tourism officials, ordered an impromptu press conference at police headquarters last night.

Mr Turnquest told reporters the incident was one of grave concern.

"The last thing that we want to happen is to have our tourist destination marred by these thugs," he said.

The Minister said every available police unit was being utilisied to track down the suspects.

And he vowed that patrols would be stepped up in light of the recent spate of armed robberies throughout the capital.

Tourism Director General Vernice Walkine said incidents of this type make it "harder" for tourism officials "to promote the country as a place to consider for a vacation".

Terry Miller, Executive Director of BASH, said "no one was really injured" during the robbery.

The tourists were at the entrance to the Earth Village when they were accosted by the gunmen and robbed of jewelry, wallets and handbags.

An officer said the men attempted to steal "whatever they could take".

Swarmed

Within minutes, a large contingent of police swarmed the area. The quick response was praised by Mr Miller.

Last night two men were helping police with their inquiries.

Meanwhile, in another tourist-related matter, a 43-year-old Canadian man had his wallet snatched by a thief as he walked on Bay Street near Navy Lion Road. The man, who had his wallet in his hand after making a purchase at a nearby store, was walking with his brother at the time.

A 49-year-old man was arrested.

Wow, that's amazing about the hold up. Never heard a thing about it around the ship:confused3
We just got home this morning after being gone since the 13th. Sorry we never met up at the meet however Disney didn't even get us to the terminal until after 2pm. We were trying to cram in some lunch before they closed.
We hope everyone had a good cruise. The weather was great. We loved Serenity Bay.
We have decided that DCL is really for families. We were actually bored on the ship with the lack of quality adult programming and went to bed early on all three nights. Disney does family crusing and entertaining very well, it's just not the kind of cruising we're looking for however now we can say we did one and move on to the next cruiseline to try (RCCL).
We LOVED the parks though and can't wait to go back.
Hope you all had safe travels home.

The FE exchange was awesome! And so was the meet! It was great to put a name to the face finally :) I gave away three magnets so I hope that makes up for the people that didn't give lol! I know some were having printer problems. I had my dd and dh hand them out so I hope they got to every ones doors. We did not put room nor names numbers on our magnets. One was a Mickey sunset, a Pirates one with Jack, and the Tink Believe one.
These are some of the gifts we got for the exchange. My kids appreciate everthing:)

OK tinkmom 2...how did you get that photo!?!?!?!?!
We were talking to Ray the cruise director and he got such a kick out of Claire that he invited us for a private meeting of the cast right after Dreams and before the Farewell party. The characters came out one by one and Claire didn't know whom to hug first. Then at the end we all got together for a photo.

Hiya,
Could whomever has the photo of the group on their camera please PM it or post it here so everyone could copy it?
Thanks:worship:

Hi everyone-

Just wanted to say thanks for the fish extender gifts. This was our first time participating in one and it was lots of fun. We enjoyed distributing our stuff and it sure was fun to have presents waiting all the time when we came back to our cabin.

We had the most wonderful week, first four days at the parks and then the cruise. The weather could not have been nicer and my family is now a big fan of the November vacation. The parks were so uncrowded! Or course the family is now hitting me up to do another cruise. We already have a dummy reservation down from last time around so now we just need to decide on an itinerary.

I hope everyone's travels went well and that you all have a great Thanksgiving! :)

We gave two magnets in our exchange: one foam mickey head and one sheet of Pirates of the Caribbean magnets - both personalized. We only had four "exchange" magnets placed on our door in addition to our own. My kids were a bit disappointed that total didn't add up to number that they had distributed.

gmark,

Sooooo sorry we were not able to participate as planned. My wife spent several days preparing some awesome-looking magnets, but when we went to print them, no printer ink, and we didn't have the time or money to buy printer ink. We were going to try to find a Kinko's in Orlando, or even use the business center on the ship. Again, we couldn't find a Kinko's, and the business center on the ship was VERY expensive. My wife did get on, to try to check her email to retrieve the picture files, but the internet was running slowly, and the printer only printed in black and white.

So, the moral of the story is that we had good intentions, it just didn't work out. The good news is, we are going to mail out the magnets to everyone on the magnet exchange sometime later this week. Consider it a, post-cruise/early Christmas present!!!

It was great getting to meet you and your family, as well as everyone else from the board. We all had a great time! Speaking to the park being un-crowded, you shoulda been there On Monday! It was the most-crowded (at The Magic Kingdom,) I've ever seen!

Hiya Mike,
I am listening to your webcast as we speak. I think the 3 day is too short of a time to get everything in. Our 4 day we still felt like we didn't have enough time to do what we wanted. We wasted money for the rainforest room and I didn't even sit in there for 5 minutes. I didn't even go to the adult pool. But I did get to go to Serenity Bay for a few minutes.

I am sorry to hear you had such a hard time getting to the cruise with your car break down.

I think we had the advantage of this being our second cruise we knew exactly what we wanted to do. But we still felt rushed. It was almost like we were unpacked and had to pack again right away.

For me too the first time I saw the ship it was smaller than I expected too.

We had amazing weather and I was glad we all got together to meet although I wish we could have spent more time together!

I was sassy and recorded Toy Story. The first few minutes everyone's head is chopped off because I had my view screen closed..but we have been singing show tunes ever since.

We had so many Magical moments this whole trip. I hope you have a better time on the Dream!

Well keep in touch! I will keep listening to your webcast:thumbsup2

That was my camera, and I'll be posting a picture here later today. I'll also email the picture directly to anyone who wants it. Have to make a quick run to WalMart this morning.

Here's the picture of the November Nauticals who showed up for a meet-and-greet in the atrium. I don't know anyone's names except for two people we had a chance to chat with. Sorry we were late - we were attending the DVC presentation and it ran until 3:00, then we hoofed it down to the atrium. I only got a chance to meet a couple of you before we had to disperse for the safety drill.

We were signed up for the Segway tour that got robbed, but had changed our plans and did the Discover Atlantis tour instead, thank goodness. Scary!

We signed up for another 3-day cruise on November 4, 2010. Hope to see some of you then.

Thanks for this! Everyone looked so happy!!!

Thanks Tikihula for lending your camera and posting the pic:worship::yay:

You're quite welcome. Does anyone want to post who they are in this picture by describing themselves and their location in the photo, for those of us who didn't get to meet everyone? I'm in pink shorts in front row and DH Steve is next to me. Not a good picture of me (we all say that, don't we?). My first impression was, "Oh my gosh, I look like my mother"!
