Willie, I'd be up for chartering a whole boat for the day in GC and hopping around to other bays and beaches for the day. How far away is Cayman Brac and little cayman? Count us in, other takers? I'll do some searching. It looks like the cats can accomodate 15+.

We chartered a 42 ft powerboat two summers ago in St. Martin for the day and hopped over to Anguilla. It was awesome. BTW, that's my DW wearing MY speedo on the main page. LOL

I'm in Doogie.........I'll do some searching also!! One of my sales mgrs. rented a boat in Mexico for almost nothing and had a blast....

Charter boat sounds good to me, as long as we can do some snorkeling.

Just Wondering!

From reading these boards I'm anticipating that I might want to take another DC after my first experience and since I booked this one last June I'm thinking I should be looking for my next one (i do realize the discount of booking during the cruise) BUT I'm shell shocked at the prices for late next year, etc. (thinking early booking discount)! Is the is reflection of the gas prices? The Turkey cruise is one of the more pricey cruises but the prices for off weeks next year are double or more what I paid for this one... is this a normal DC hike? I'm astounded/confused!

Laura -

I'm sorry I won't get to meet you! But it sounds like you have a lot of other cool things planned. So that is good!

Sorry also about all the family concerns and happy for you that things are looking up all around.

I just got back from Grand Cayman - wow, was there a HUGE deal with the tenders there involving all the cruise ships in port. Yikes!

Kris

Kris,

Thanks for your concern! It is very kind of you!!

Was it you that posted about the swells at Grand Cayman? Or did I read that some where else? Something like 20 - 25 feet??? :scared1: I don't know if I'd have made it through those...I kept my bottle of dramamine with me at all times...especially after that blasted patch made my eyes go wacky...I'm naturally nearsighted and after wearing that patch, by the first sea day it was as if my vision reversed...could see good at a distance, but I couldn't read squat less than 3 feet... How was the island? It was still in pretty bad shape last November.

Silly question....which cruise line were you just on? NCL??? :confused3

Yeah, I think we will have a great time on both trips to WDW...just talked with my sister, who is going to Orlando June 3 for 10 days...they are driving and going to Busch Gardens, Universal, and WDW. She asked if my son would like to go with them to Busch Gardens since he's not been there yet...said he could stay overnight with them in the condo and they'd drop him off at OKW the next morning. He's thinking about it.... :scratchin If he decides to go then DH and I can go to the Adventurer's Club :cool1: ....DH loved it the last time we went and wanted to spend more time, but DS was with us so we left early. We'll see what happens...DS may decide to stay with the parents instead of going with his aunt, uncle and cousin...a girl cousin...

Well, it's getting late here and tomorrow means laundry.. :earseek: so I'd better get moving...ya'll take care!!

Scorpio1112,

Yes the prices seem to go up every year. I haven't looked at next years besides the 10-day X-mas. DVC prices (the number of points it costs to cruise) actually declined this year. DCL did shift around some of their seasons, but overall I'd say there was a 10%+ decline.

You might want to post the same question to the cruise line board and see what type of response you get.

Hey Laura --

From a fellow Illinois-an - I'm especially sorry that you're not coming! Being a timid midwestern I'm feeling just a tad lonesome here.

Yes, I was on NCL. And did experience the horrific swells at GC. I don't know that they were 20-25 feet, but I do believe the waves that night (while we were on the ship) were. It was crazy - hard to walk anywhere; people wobbling all over the place. But at least I can lay to rest any concerns about seasickness. I always travel with some bonine "just in case", but now I know that I can withstand quite a bit :-)

The scariest thing was getting onboard the tenders at the dock at GC. The tenders were going waaay up and then waaay down. You really had to time your step off the dock just right - of course, there was plenty of staff to help out, but yikes! And once I got on, it was still scary being in such a small (relatively speaking) boat rocking in the waves.

Did you see the movie "A Perfect Storm" --- if so, you can relate - LOL!!!

Kris

On our 03 Eastern sailing we caught the tail end of a "late season" hurricane. There were 26-28 ft. swells. Almost thought we were going to miss CC. DW spent all day Thursday in our stateroom with the verandah door open.
True story.....the ship was REALLY ROCKING and Kim askes me to go det her some pineapple and watermellon from topsiders, so I head up and there are CMs everywhere "cleaning up" in the halls. I get the fruit and a coffe and head to the elevator......after 4 days of drinking I thought the swaying was normal :rotfl2: .....so I tell the guy on the elevator I haven't felt like this since my batchelor party!!! :rotfl2:

Gang,

The T-day gang website has bee re-published. :cool1: You can see pics of T-day folks as of last Feb. I know there's several who have joined since!!

It's at http://home.mchsi.com/~eppardd/tday_home.htm

Kris....no thank you buddy...I would not have done well with those swells!!!
What part of Illinois are ya from? We hail from the southern part...about 10 miles east from Southern Illinois University. Our Salukis have done pretty well in both football and basketball this year. The coach at UofI used to be the basketball coach at SIU.

Scorpio1112,

Here's what DVC is all about. http://dvc.disney.go.com/dvc/index

WMiller, Kennyk, 5Js and Silver7 (anyone else?) are members. Lamps should be, but spends all his $$ on Miller Lite and a 100,000 other toys. :moped: LOL

Hey, Doogie...we are probably the newest DVC members....we bought on the Turkey cruise...Teresa knew we were buying before I did...DH went to the info meeting without me...DS and I were doing something together...DH was convinced (finally) at that meeting, but didn't tell me until we went into get more info which in fact is when we signed the paperwork. So far we love it!! We are headed to WDW twice this use year for a total of 14 days...we don't have near the point ya'll have. As for Lampy buying DVC...doubt it will happen since he said his family really aren't "park people". What most people don't realize is that there are so many other options than just going to WDW...we plan to hit DL once or more...I've never been....and DL Paris...hey, it France for crying out loud....and I know you've been looking into the Hawaii exchanges just like us...so many opportunities to see so many different places. Right now, we're sticking within the Disney properties since it's still so new...not seasoned enough to go swapping out at the other travel companies. I am trying to convince my Dsis #2 to buy DVC....they gone to WDW more than we have in the past few years and it would be a great thing for them...when I first started she'd say...naaaa, but now she's saying...well,...so it's just a matter of time and she'll buy.

Doogie--Great job on the chart!! Thanks!!

Kris-You are not the only Midwesterner in the group!! I am originally from Chicago. After too many cooolllldddd winters, my family decided that the sunshine state would be a good place to live!! :sunny: :sunny: I still miss Chicago and we try to visit once per year--just not during the winter months!!

ICEMANPAD, Lisa & Chuck,

I was working at our local Disney store last night and we got in mini bean-bag Heffalumps, "Lumpys". they are $ 6.50 ea. If you want me to pick you up one, let me know. We don't have any of the larger ones yet, but don't know if we will get them in.???

DOOGIE, Doug,

I looked at the new web site, thanks looks great, do you have a copy of the latest spreadsheet, so you can add the additional names.

Ken,

Missy (my wife) and I were discussing excursions for G.C. and Cozumel. Since we have a 20 month (at the time of the cruise) we are limited to more tame options. Does anybody have any suggestions?

We were looking at the Rum Point Beach Adventure without Stingray City on G.C., but haven't come up with one for Cozumel.

P.S. we don't like to leave Sarah at Flounders so we are going to choose an excursion that an infant can participate in.
