Paul, Goofyhouk,

I noticed you've lived in Commack & Northport. We live in Nesconset. My DW works in Commack and I worked in Northport for 12 yrs before changing jobs.

We also lived in Commack for 1 yr after returning from an overseas job in Iran for Grumman.

Welcome aboard

Ken

Welcome Cody's Mom and Goofy Houck!

Lisa- It looks like Wilma will hit South of us here in the Tampa Bay area. I hope that she weakens before getting to you in South Florida. As we all know, you can never be sure about hurricanes. It was just announced that schools will be closed here tomorrow, but there have not yet been any evacuations ordered yet.

All-Before starting our family, my DW and I took several Eastern Caribbean cruises. St. Thomas is a great island- I really would not mind showing the kids around there. We rented a car one time and drove it up a mountain to a place that is famous for its banana daquiris (I don't remember that the drinks were that great, but the view was amazing!). I don't think that I would do that again. The roads were very poor, and although the steering wheel for the vehicle was on the left, everyone drives on the opposite side of the street, like in Europe! Try doing that on a road curving around a mountain!

Whatever happens with our cruise, I just hope that we have those two stops at Castaway Cay. The double dip was the primary reason that we booked this cruise instead of taking a less expensive one at another time of the year.

Welcome Aboard, Cody's Mom :wave2: you are gonna love our group!!! If you haven't had a chance to read our past posts, I would suggest you do. You will be overwhelmed but you will feel more in the loop. Love to hear if you have a family going on the cruise and have any children. Like KennyK says, just PM him so you can be on the list. Once you have KennyK send you the whole list of DIS'ers, you can have the list with you when aboard the ship...it's a great way to keep track of this huge group. It's gonna be a blast!!! :teeth:

To all my friends, I found a website to help to those who need a back up list on what to do, to bring and what not to bring. Found this from the other post. www.stlsheldons.us then click on Cruise trips and tips. VERY INFORMATIVE. :flower:

Well, it looks like COZ is out!! I'm usually very optimistic, but since seeing and hearing from other hurricanes happening down south, COZ has a lot of damages and it would take months to recover. I haven't heard about Costa Maya...did they get hit??? Can't wait to hear what our plans are going to be...it would be very interesting how this is going to turn out.

Gotta go and finish my laundry and get ready for my job tomorrow.

Have a nice day :sunny:

Hi everyone!! Thanks for all of the good wishes!! We appreciate your thoughts!! Chuck and I put up the hurricane shutters on the first level of our house and boys from the block are putting the shutters up on the 2nd level--nothing like waiting until the last minute!! The entire neighborhood is now shuttered. Schools are closed tomorrow and tuesday. Now we need to wait and be patient and hope for the best. Like Julia, I'm going to do laundry now--while we still have power!!!!

Lisa

Lisa- We have you in our prayers and hopefully you are in luck that there will be very very little damages. Where are you going from there? To relatives? Just be safe and let us know when it's over and see how things are going. Hopefully we will hear from you soon.

Good Luck!!

Hi everyone!!! It's Disneyfan37's dh. Even up here in the great white north Florida (ha-ha), they are posting watches and warnings. We are currently under wind warning until 1 am and a tornado watch until 9 pm. Wish this would be over quickly.

I'm with others who wouldn't mind going to the virgin islands just as long as we get CC 2x. I know that no matter where we go, we will definitely have a great time.

:cool1: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :earboy2:

I want to post some pictures, and I know someone posted instructions a while back, but I can't find them. Please provide them again - it had to do with uploading them to a website.

Thanks,

Paul

I found a site for the Costa Maya Sun and it had photos of the damages to Costa Maya, which they said were at a minimum. Cozumel and Cancun took the brunt, Costa Maya was getting high tide and wind. So if Alpha leaves CC alone, we may salvage a Western itinerary after all. I personally don't care as my destination is the Magic. As long as I am there, I am happy. I would love the two CC days though. Its so close now that I am actually starting to pack. Drink of the Day, here I come!!!

Goofyhouk - hey we're from one of those cities in your long list of previous addresses (Dayton, OH). We live very near the cross road of I-75 and I-70. Hope Wright PattersonAFB was a good experience for you!

We lived in Fairborn for 5 1/2 years first time and then in Huber Heights (America's largest all brick community - Quail Hollow development) for 4 years the second time. Both DS and DD were born at the WPAFB medical center. We really enjoyed our time there, but got tired of the cold. :cold: We spent 3 years in Alabama then moved back to Dayton (1995) in time for 3 blizzards in December and January and minus 15 for a week. A lot like last year's weather. That's why we settled back in Alabama. :cool1:

Ken,

I attended 9th and 10th grade in Commack (moved there from Virginia - now that was an huge adjustment!!!! :earseek: ). We actually lived in Dix Hills, and I went to Commack South. We moved to E. Northport and I graduated from Northport HS in 1978. My dad worked in Queens (I do miss the Greek bakeries from there - great bread and apple turnovers), and took the Long Island Parking Lot (Expressway) to work everyday. I don't know how he did it! :confused3 I haven't been back out there since 1979. I imagine I wouldn't recognize anything.

Hey Kenny -

Here's an update for you!

My kids' ages have changed.

they are now 18, 17, will be 14 in a week and 9.

my eldest is celebrating her 19th birthday while on the cruise.

Thanks!!

Kris

I just had to post these pictures. It's from the porthole on The Big Red Boat (Disney Cruise) in December 1986. We were catching the tail end of a tropical storm. Our cabin was just above the water line, and there were times when the porthole would be under water. Can you say "washing machine"? Let's hope for better weather this year.

Hey Paul -

We were on the Big Red Boat in 1995 :-) Hard to believe it was only 10 years ago --- seems like a lifetime ago.

Hey Molli- You guessed right-Tri-circle-D is Andrew, and my DW is Molly. That is odd that your only brother is Andrew. Also, as I'm sure you know, Molly is not that common a name. My DW and I always joke, because there seem to be a lot of people who name their cats and dogs Molly, but we rarely run into another Molly.

Anyway, there will be two Molly's on our cruise! Well. actually it will be a Molli and a Molly.

So far, we look like we are going to be OK here in west central Florida with Wilma. Hopefully we will still have power tomorrow.

Tri-Circle-D (Andrew)

Thanks everyone for the updates,

Look for the updated spreadsheet in your email box sometime tonight.

Remember it is an excel spread sheet.

Ken :cool1:

Pray for the :sunny:

Hi RATT45 :wave2: Just wanted to say, Hi and are you ready for a vacation?!! It was great talking to Maria the other night...it's getting too excited when all of us were talking with Willie at the same time. Keep us posted of what's happening in southern part of Florida. Hopefully things aren't too bad.

Have a great day. :sunny:
