ICEMANPAD-Glad to hear you all didn't get any damage, and everything is fine there. We have had rain bans since yesterday on and off which isn't anything compared to what you and ohers have experienced in South FL.

Tri-circle-D-We are definitely interested in the t-shirts.We look forward to seeing the design soon.

5 O'Clock Somewhere-What a great surprise for your birthday!

Lampskies-Hope things settle down soon.

Happy Saturday to you all!

Greeting Fellow Turkeys or Turkeyiers,

Keep in mind this is our very first cruise so to say it is our first November cruise would be absolutely redundant!

I was out today back to school shopping and was thinking about packing (oh how the mind travels)... anyway... for those who have cruised before and of course realizing that every year is different... what/how much do you pack for the possibilty of cooler weather???

Of course we will have long pants for dinner, etc. but do you pack sweatshirts, long sleeved shirts, etc.?

If so, how much!

Is it so cool in the evening that a light jacket or zip up sweatshirt is necessary??

Can you tell I'm getting into the mood!!!

P.S. I just realized that I booked our CC ecco tour at 1:00 when the EAGLES meet the Giants!! OH NO.. just so you understand... I'm so bad that if my kids have a party to go to when the Eagles are on... DH is taking them ... I'm not moving and my whole family knows it... shame that all of our b-days are in Football season, however, lucky for all no one's b-day falls on a Sunday :rotfl:

sherri - we cruised 12/03 - it was on the chilly side for FL the week we were there and yes we wore sweatshirts on deck in morning and at night. i plan on packing one sweatshirt for everyone, don't forget about the theatre(s), rest. etc where the A/C can make you cold regardless of outside temp! at least i'm always chilly!

i'd like to hear from last year's t-day cruisers on this one though too, as i'd pack one sweatshirt and one pair of jeans per person?????????

Thank you all for your good wishes!!

We are looking forward to seeing the tshirt designs too!!

The weather last November was perfect!! The sun was shining every day!! I do recommend a sweatshirt and jeans for the early morning, the air conditioned venues on board and for the evenings. Other than that, we lived in t-shirts, shorts and bathing suits for the week. The only other clothes that you need are clothes for dinner. Even that has become more casual since our cruise last year.

I remember reading somewhere on dis boards (I do not know who wrote it so I apologize for stealing) "pack your suitcase, then take 1/2 of what you packed out of the suitcase, close the suitcase and you will be ready for the cruise."

Thanks for your responses!

OK.. I know I can find this info if I look for it BUT.. please don't make me

Which nights are our formal/semi formal nights...

and what is more casual as per the quote above... for formal night i planned on my dh and ds in suit and tie... my dd and I I'm not too concerned about as dressing up is more fun for us than the guys...

semi formal night i planned dress pants, dress shirt perhaps a tie...

insight please... formal vs. semi...

of course no one wants to be out of place but more importantly I don't want to pack unnecessary items!!

I think I gave myself and dh an extra formal night doing Palo on Tues??? but i'm not sure because I don't know the days... Palo is Suit and Tie correct?

I know I have a bunch of :confused3 thrown in so I'd appreciate answers to any and all!! :flower:

Willie -

Thanks for the snorkeling info! It sounds like we will all definitely be able to enjoy it since we will have the inflatable vests.

I just got back from North Carolina tonight and I am totally wiped out. My sisters and I went to visit our favorite aunt whom we haven't seen in 7 years. She is in a nursing home now and at 84 years old, has lapses of memory, etc. It was a totally draining experience and I am so embarrassed that I spent about 3 hours today crying in anticipation of having to leave her. I just sat there and tried to get control and just could not do it. It was so tough.

I am beat - going to bed.

Hugs,
Kris

Scorpio.....as Iceman said last year was absolutly perfect weather. The year before it was in the 30's at at night at WDW the two nights prior to our sailing. Last year was nice...I see you are comming in from Pennsylvania.....sure what you wear the night you leave may be enough. We :rotfl2: (Kim) just does laundry on the ship....she actually liked the fact on not having to do it all when we get home.
Iceman...yep, that "Pack all you think you need and take half out" is my motto.....Alli's 15 pairs of shoes were a little much.....Me, Dockers, polos, one sport coat 2 dress shirts 2 ties, swim suits, tank tops and gym shoes on my feet for the flight, sandals for the beech, and a pair of deck shoes for all dinners.....yep even the formals......I think I'll wear the sandles this year on formal night....... :rotfl2: And Yes, formal nights ARE monday and Thursday!!!!

 Kris -- it's tough no need to be embarassed, kinda makes you appreciate the little things and those you love a bit more, huh?

do you all take your own snorkeling equip to CC? i bought 2 sets in hopes of my DD practicing at the Y to be comfortable this year - she'll be almost 9. if we take our own snorkels, are they good enough and will there be inflatable vests at CC to use free? i have the package booked now and knowing it's good for both days (well i didn't confirm that myself but someone here did i think) i'm tempted to keep it but like Kenny said those excursions add up!

if you haven't watched the video by GoofyGuy777 click here - it's way cool

here's another question -- when we are at Palo brunch -- am I being naive or too lax if i'm fine with DD 13 taking DD almost 9 to a rest. for lunch. how would the servers react to them arriving alone? i figure they'll be all about room service, but thought i'd ask since a few of you have simlar age kids

we'll be ordering 4 t-shirts -- hopefully child's size will be available?

sherri -- PM me if you'd like to see pics of what i'm wearing to play dress up in  , i'm not buying anything new for myself, my DDs broke the bank at Limited Too on very nice dresses for them :) they will look sooo nice. anyhow, I went to Kaufmann's about this time of year in '03 when we cruised last and got really nice dresses at like 75% (orginially around $80-100 each); i have three and i'll probably bring them all along with fancy flip-flops or sandals. DH has one sport coat that is more a tweed look so i imagine he'll take it so he can mix and match -- although the black one really would look better with his disney ties :) I will take capris for nights at PC. I created another dress up night for us with Palo, but oh well........three dresses i have. i will totally roll them up in their suitcase. I have no hesitation to send out some clothes for ironing only, that is very reasonable onboard

enough rambling :upsidedow
molli

Molli, if I was a betting man I would say your DDs will be snacking on burgers and chicken fingers while you are at palo. My DDs have their own room and room service for them was late at night....

Molli,

Not to fret!!!, My DGS (12yrs) has been on many DCL's with us and he just uses the snack bar on deck 9 most of the time or goes to buffet lunch served on deck 9 also. There is a dining room open for lunch also if they want to be adventurous and have waitress/waiter service. As far as dinner when we have Palos, he usually goes to dining room by himself. The servers take very good care of him, He gets so spoiled on these cruises.

As far as snorkling equipment. I bring my own also, the life vests are available free of charge at CC. You just go to the booth and pick one up. The only thing they ask is that you bring it back.

I'm scheduled on Sunday for the seahorse cat cruise and snorkling excursion. something new to do.

As far as Palos I just wear a sport coat and tie for dinner and brunch it is golf shirt (collared) and a nice pair of slacks and shoes.

Hope this helps.

Lampy. To get linked for dining room, do you need my res # and name res is under. If so I'll PM you with them.

Dinner should be a blast.

Ken

OhMom....about your DDs going to a restaurant by themselves...not a problem at all. Our DS who was 12 when we cruised with all the Turkeys last year did just that by himself while we were at the Palo Brunch. He really like Lumiere's so he walked in by himself, was seated at a table alone, ordered his meal, and as he was finishing he said a family joined him. He said he was treated very nicely and had a great meal...better than burgers, fries, and pizza...he was eating that late night. He also had fun ordering room service a couple of times.

Ya'll have a great time!

:flower1:

I feel better tonight, though I just keep thinking of my aunt and wondering if she remembers our visit, if she is eating ok, if she is comfy, etc.

Hugs,
Kris

Molli- last year my DD Erin, age 9 went to dinner with her buddies while we went to Palo. Like Laura said, they were treated extra special. I went and checked on them, and it was funny. They were pretending like they were all grown up. Having a huge time. The servers will take care of them. My girls pretty much had run of the ship. I felt OK with that.

We have been busy here in East Texas. I have some relatives from New Orleans that are staying with us till they can go home and try to find their home. Not looking good. They could end up here for a while. :earseek:

Been trying to contact my two sisters in south Missisippi, but phone lines are tied up. They were direct hit, 30 miles from the coast.

Willie

Willie-

We wish you and your family the best. We hope your sisters and relatives are all ok.

Chuck and Lisa

Willie...we will kee your family and others hit by Katrina in our thoughts and prayers...I finally saw photos of Louisana and Mississippi this morning...WOW!

Mollie, like Willie said, we felt really comfortable letting Nic have run of the ship...we just asked him to let us know where he was headed and if he changed locations to let us know. He had lots of fun exploring around 11pm or so...kind of deserted...he knew where all the snack offerrings could be found. Actually on the first day at CC, he didn't want to stay on the island...just eat at Cookie's and check out the shop. So, Eric walked him back to the ship and watched him get back on while I enjoyed my first Konk Kooler...mmmm! I think if Nic had his way, the only vacations we'd take anymore would be cruises.

Well, ya'll take care!

Willie,

Our prayers go out to you and your family in their recovery during the aftermath of Hurricane Kristina.

On a new subject,

Has anybody else seen the new "Allears Newletter" that came out yesterday.

We will be having staggering dining time on the Magic during our cruise. It was tested on the Wonder and is here to stay. They are going to stagger sit down times by about 15 mins so late seating will start now at 8:00, 8:15 & 8:30. You will be assigned a particular time. (just like at restaurants) should help the kitchen and dining servers. I wonder how this will effect the stage shows the wait staff do during the dinner hour, How are they going to do the show at AP which is timed to the courses of the dinner. :confused3

Oh well, I guess we will have to wait until November.

Ken

Thanks for the well wishes for my sisters and their families. Still unable to get any type of communication out of south Mississippi area where they live. If I have not contacted them by tomorrow, I am driving over there to check on them. It is about 300 miles. I figure they could use my generator and some water, ice etc. at the very least.

Willie

lampy -- i see on our reservation we are still main dining -- can you add our family to the disgroup please?? i know your lady was out of town when i mentioned it last, is it cool to do now? maybe you can ask her about the staggering dining times too -- i'd really really rather not be just seated at 8:30! it'd be nice if they staggered based on what time zone your stomach is in!

thanks for all the input about our DDs dining for lunch alone -- Palo dinner is fine b/c my parents will be there with them. They are the type like Willie described where they would take it very grown-up-like and try to act as adult as they can :)

willie -- my prayers to your family and all those who were in the path of Katrina

can someone post our current website again? thanks!

I am heading home to pack supplies for a run to my family in Miss. I heard from them in a round about way. Nobody hurt, but both my sister and nephew have a tree on homes. So I am packing my chain saw and tree saw and some gas, generator, etc and heading out. They expect to be without power for 6 weeks.
My nephews wife has a 9 month old. She is going to bring the baby to live with us till .....

See you guys when I return.
