zeke11-Your dolls are beautiful! Thanks for sharing that website with us!

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend!

Maria

Hope you all had a safe 4th!! We survived, still have all fingers and eyes left!!! :rotfl2: But, I have a blister on my index finger I use to open my beer bottles with :rotfl2: We ONLY had 70 people over yesterday wathching the local parade, having water fights, BBQing and bean bag tossing........

Lampy,

Glad to hear all of your digits are intact after the 4th! We thought of you this past weekend as we cruised to the top of the first hill on the Mean Streak at Cedar Point...it looks right over the campground there. Nic and Eric both did the Dragster and Maxair...not me though by the time I got the nerve up to do Dragster, the line was 1 1/2 hours long...not worth the wait IMO. We had a great weekend...wonderful weather there with the breeze off the lake...came home to the first day of rain in weeks...okay, it was a storm that cancelled all the local fireworks.

Hope you all had a great 4th weekend and aren't having too hard of time getting back in the swing of things.

Willie...glad to hear your brother is coming back from Iraq!! My cousin just got back a couple of weeks ago so the whole family is getting together this weekend.

Well, ya'll take care!

Thank you Lisa & Maria :-)

Laura -

We have camped at the Cedar Point campground. It was great especially since it was in the 90's the days that we were there. It was so nice to be able to get back to our air conditioned camper to get a breather.

I thought it was cool to be awakened in the morning to the sound of the roller coasters testing -- we had a great time there!

One question though -- both evenings that we were at Cedar Point, these awful little flying bugs came out. It seemed they were especially attracted to yellow clothing - weird. But they were SO horrible -- they'd be in your face and all over you. Going on fast rides was a special challenge - having them hitting you in the face, etc.

I was wondering if these things are common or if we were just "lucky" - LOL!

Kris,
I don't recall any itty bugs at night, but we didn't wear any yellow clothing and there was a great breeze the whole time off of the lake while we were there. Sorry!

Laura -

Oh no, don't be sorry!! Those bugs were a major problem and you're lucky they weren't there when you were - LOL!

Oh, no!!! Looks like GC is in for it......so much for it being fixed by our sailing.....

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for the southwestern peninsula
of Haiti from the Dominican Republic border westward...all of
Jamaica...and all of the Cayman Islands.

Interests in the central and western Caribbean Sea should monitor
the progress of this system.

For storm information specific to your area...including possible
inland watches and warnings...please monitor products issued
by your local weather office.

At 5 PM EDT...2100z...the center of Hurricane Dennis was located
near latitude 19.0 north... longitude 76.6 west or about 90
miles... 145 km... southeast of Cabo cruz in southeastern Cuba and
about 125 miles... 200 km...southwest of Guantanamo Cuba.
Dennis is moving toward the northwest near 15 mph...24 km/hr...and
this motion is expected to continue for the next 24 hours. On this
track the center will pass very near Cabo cruz tonight...and be
very near the southern coast of central Cuba on Friday.
Reports from an Air Force hurricane hunter plane indicate that
Dennis has continued to strengthen...and maximum sustained winds
are now near 115 mph...185 km/hr...with higher gusts. Dennis is a
dangerous category three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.
Some additional strengthening is forecast before the center reaches
central Cuba.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 45 miles... 75 km...
from the center...and tropical storm force winds extend outward up
to 140 miles...220 km.

An Air Force hurricane hunter plane recently reported a minimum

Dennis is expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 5 to
10 inches over Haiti...Jamaica...Cuba...and the Cayman Islands.
Isolated maximum amounts of 15 inches are possible over the Sierra
maestra mountains of southeastern Cuba. These rains could produce
life-threatening flash floods and mud slides.

Storm surge flooding of 5 to 7 feet above normal tide levels...
along with large and dangerous battering waves...are likely in
areas of onshore winds along the southeast coast of Cuba east of
Cabo cruz. A much larger storm surge of near 20 feet is possible

Hey Laura,

How was Old Key West last month? Our DVC home is Boardwalk, but we have some OKW points and we might stay there in the future. How was the bus service to the parks from there? At Boardwalk it is really great because you can walk to Epcot and Disney MGM.
I heard that the pool at OKW is renovated now and has a waterslide?

Willie

Willie,

We stayed in a studio, bldg. 18 (#1831) and it was great! By the way it is your section of OKW...Miller Rd. :teeth: The studios at OKW have 2 queen beds rather than one bed and a sofa sleeper. The beds and pillows were some of the most comfortable we've had at WDW...I slept almost as good as I did on the cruise last year...haven't slept as good as the cruise ever! :cloud9:
We were about a 5 minute walk from the HH and main pool, which looked nice. I saw a couple older kids coming down the slide and seemed to be having a good time. The pool isn't huge, but I can't think of one to compare...AKL was the last resort we stayed in and their pool is huge. We actually didn't use hte main pool. Nic swam in the quiet pool there...had it to himself for about an hour and he loved it!

The Miller Rd. bus stop was about a 2 minute walk and the bus service seemed quite good...think the most we waited was 15 minutes and that was because we just missed the bus for the park we were headed. The busses do stop at each of the areas within OKW and at the HH (I think they stop there twice...can't remember.) They also have a boat that goes to DTD every hour, but we just used the bus. Travel time between parks and OKW weren't bad...maybe 15 minutes tops.

If ya'll stay at OKW, give Olivia's a try for a meal...easy to get in without PS and have a drink from the Gurgling Suitcase...Teresa (whose home resort is OKW) called me a few times while we were there and asked me to have a Pina Colada for her...had a Sultry Seahorse instead...it was a bit sweet and a bit tart, but mighty tasty for one of them fru-fru drinks that Lampy won't touch. :drinking1 I had a soup at Olivia's suggested by our server...it was Toasted Cheese Soup and it tasted just like a grilled cheese sandwich with a hint of tomato. She said it tasted like you'd just dipped your sandwich in a bit of tomato soup or ketchup and she was right. I loved it!

Oh, I almost forgot...OKW does not have elevators in most of the buildings and our room was on the third floor. Thank goodness for bell service...than man earned his money that day! Eric and I did feel our age when we came back at night. He said if we stay at OKW again, he's requesting a first floor room. :rotfl:
For our Christmas trip we are staying at our new second home, SSR. I've never even seen it except from the bus as we passed by on this last trip, but I'm looking forward to it! We'll be in a one bedroom then, so we'll see how we like it.

Hope this helps!

Ah, Ron, you just brought back memories to last fall when you kept us all abreast of the weather for the first Turkey Cruise... :sad1: I'm wishing I was going with ya'll... I know we could, but we opted to go to WDW for Christmas instead...it's getting harder and harder to take time off with Nic's school and extra-curricular stuff. Aren't all you Turkeys switching to the Christmas cruise down the road? Guess that would make it a bunch of hams then, eh?

Honestly though if Grand Cayman is hit by another big hurricane, ya'll might not be docking there, which was the rumor anyway, right? Maybe you can keep in touch with that "girlfriend" to find out anything IF CG is off the cruise market for a while. I know last year it was still in pretty bad shape.

Well, ya'll have a great weekend. We've got that family get together Saturday for my cousins, 1 back from Iraq and the other back from Africa, both had been there a year. Then Sunday we drop Nic off at band camp for the week...woohoo! Eric and I just won't know what to do for a whole week without him... :hyper2:

Hey Gang,

I haven't checked in a few weeks. It's SUMMER :cool1: . Had a great vac. at Saratoga Springs and Boardwalk mid June. Soarin' is awesome; did it 8 times. SSR is a nice resort, pretty spread out. The rooms are probably the nicest of any DVC. We still love the location and activities at the Boardwalk.
We were to be fishing this week in Wisc. but cancelled due to some minor surgery my father was having. Heading to CO for a figure skating competition followed by a week in Breckenridge soon.

I saw a posting about a web site. I reposted it on geocities. It's free, but unfortunately; there are ads. You can close the add page.

The site is at: http://www.geocities.com/grayhounddoogie .

If you're not listed, send me your info and a few pics.

Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Doug

I wish I could send a copy of this thread to Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall and Ron White.

DOOGIERUNNER-The site looks great! Thanks for doing it.I am glad you all had a great vacation.I know summer's are busy here too.My Dad just had surgery also.He finally got out of the hospital after being there over a week.Hope your Dad gets better soon.DH saw Soarin a few weeks ago on tv.He wants to try it.I told hiim I would watch from the ground.Rollercoasters, and I don't get along.

momsgoofy-DH and I love Olivia's.The food there is so good.We haven't had their drinks though. We may have to try them in October when our friend's stay there.Glad to hear you all had a great time.

LAMPSKIES-Have you heard anything about GC?We were getting excited about going there too. Now,things may change.Keep us posted. Thanks! We woke up to a cloudy day in Gator town.We are under a tornado watch.Down south were dh parents are at,they are getting rain bans.

You all have a great weekend!

Maria

I was in Grand Cayman in March and it was in ok shape, but a lot of hotels were still closed, etc. You could definitely see the effects of the hurricanes.

I wonder what the alternate port would be if Cayman wasn't an option.

Kris

Great Job Doogie!!

We hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It has been raining and windy here thanks to Dennis. Luckily, those are the only problems we have faced. Hopefully Dennis hasn't and won't cause too many problems overall.

As it turns out, our ds has a 1 week break b/w camp and school so we are taking a last minute trip to wdw in august. Since we didn't have anything planned, we found a place to stay at skyauction.com. The total we are paying for a 1 bedroom condo (including taxes etc)--$200.00 for 7 nights. Not bad!! However, i cannot find out much info about the place. If any of you know anything about Celebration World Resort, please let us know. Thanks!!

Lisa and Chuck

Hi All,
Well we have "our room" reserved, but I still have to make the deposit. I am still fluctuating between this cruise and the December 3rd cruise (cheaper).

First of all, let me say that this will be our 4th Disney cruise (2nd Thanksgiving cruise) and I have been on the disboards for over 4 years. We just moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest so I had to change everything...including my sign in. Which means I lost my post count!

Anyhow, the long and the short of it is: It will be myself (Lisa) and my husband and our 15 year old son on this cruise. The last few cruises I know that we had a great group of Dis-ers but it looks like you all are much more fun.

So if you don't mind me jumping in on this thread, I can guarantee that Lampy won't be the only one with Miller Lite in his hand come sail away! :rotfl2:

Lisa

ICEMANPAD-Glad to hear things are well there. We have just been getting the rain bans and some windy. We can't complain as those are the only affects of Dennis we have had.

MickeyD-Welcome aboard! This will be our first Thanksgiving cruise as well as our 4th Disney Cruise.

Maria

Oops! My 'you might be a redneck' post was intended for another thread. (Can anyone tell I'm a Blue collar comedy tour fan?) :teeth:

mickeyD -- WELCOME!!!!! this is our familie's 2nd DCL - but first holiday cruise; i'm soooo glad we are booked this year, the rates for next year are outta the roof!

doogie -- thanks so much for getting a site back up for us. i have some corrections/additions, i'll email you this week :)

busy busy summer days here too. oldest DD taylor competed at county fair dog show yesterday and placed first in grooming and handling so she'll be at the state fair in August. very exciting for her :)

DH and I are surfing Vegas sites for our little getaway here in a couple weeks! willie or lampy or someone did a recent trip to lost wages, right? any hot tips? good eats?? fantastic shows??
