Shauna - I am jealous that you get to book early. Only because I want to be done with it. Let me know if they have Palo's teas when you book. Last cruise on the wonder, they didn't have teas by the time I booked. No one could tell me if they were all booked or did they not offer them.

Our cruise on the Wonder was the 2 ever 7 night cruise.

Okay, I'll let you know if they offer them. We've only done brunch (once) and dinner a few times.

It is kind of nice to book early, but for excursions it doesn't help a lot unless they let us book for my mom as well, but I don't think they will since she has her own room. Not a big deal though because I don't think the excursions will really fill up that fast. It is nice just to get it taken care of so we don't have to worry about it and keep planning.

Right now DH and I are spending some time looking at DL menus, trying to plan some meals for our Sept DL trip. It sure makes the cruise look like a great deal.

Just realized it is 118 days away from our cruise and those who are Platinum CC members have the opportunity to already book Palos.

We have done both the brunch and Dinner. What I think is nice is they try to keep the same server for each serving on the same cruise. It was kind of nice because the server would know your preferences and then help make things happen.

This time since my MIL will be going we will be trying for both the Dinner and Brunch and maybe do the tea if it offered.

Hi all
It will be my daughters and I first cruise ever, and I chose Disney because I want the kids to have fun and be well taken care of! I am a single mom from British Columbia Canada, would be nice to connect with some of you before our cruise. DD1 is 10 and DD2 is 12. I see that many of you have younger kids.
I am interested in participating in the Fish Extenders thing. We have a Cat 6 verandah room. Anybody else on deck 6?:cheer2:

Welcome lise!

If you think of questions, ask away! A couple of us are on deck 5 (Laura and myself), but I think someone is on deck 6 as well. DCL is a great cruise line to start with (and you'll never want to leave). DCL has been great, we've cruised just the 2 of us before kids, then with my sister and her kids (6 and 8 at the time), and we took my 12 year old niece with us last time and she had a blast!

I'll let you know all the details about the Fish Extenders as we get a little closer to the cruise--probably in a month or so I'll start gathering the info and then we'll try to have everything settled about a month before sailing so we can plan.

I am so glad to have found this forum!
I have read DisneyZell trip report on his Mexican Riviera cruise in April 2011. If you have not read it you should, it is very entertaining with lots of pictures!
I have studied the cruising thing quite a bit, some reports have helped me understand a bit more what is going on.
Any of you have an 11 or 12 years old daughter? I would like for her to make friends real soon onboard so she can be happy.
Nice to be chatting with some experienced cruisers!
I will not do any disney excursions but would love to take my girls snorkelling, we will bring the gear. I imagine in Cabos we will be able to do that with some local provider?
What is it that people put in the fish extenders? Just to give me some kind of idea? Thanks!

:welcome: Lise! I think I have read DisneyZell trip report. This will be our first MR cruise, so it will be new to us. But this will be our 4th DCL cruise.

Our daughter is 9 will be almost 10 by the time the cruise rolls around.

We have received lots of different things in FE... Candy, pirate items, disney items, Lots of necklaces, silly bands, Candy or postcards from their home town. Magnets.

When you book Palos it is a paying restaurant right?

There is a $15/person upcharge for going to Palos, but there is no other cost. Will will be charged for specialty drinks and you have the opportunity to Tip the servers above the $15/person charge. At $15/person, this is a great bargain for a restaurant such as Palos. FYI, you must be 18+ to dine at Palo's. I know on our last cruise, we had 2 single moms as our tablemates and one had a reservation for Brunch, she took the other her to her reservation. (I believe they only have reservations for 2 or more) The other paid her back by buying drinks at the brunch. (We had brunch at the same time) If you think you want to go, I would book it and then you can always cancel. If you don't cancel you will be charge the $15/person.

Thank you Lucky!
I have a daughter that is 10 and still will be 10 in November.
Thanks for the info re Palos.
I am not a big eater and do not plan to gain weight while on this cruise :littleangel: so I will stick to the other restaurants I think.
I hope to do the yoga daily and check out the gym.
:wave2:

DH will be visiting the Gym.. He says it is very nice. I know it is hard to stay away from food sometimes on a cruise... So many choices and nice desserts. The fruit is also good.

I never made it to the Yoga or exercise classes, but I did do long walks around Deck 4, early in the morning while everyone else was sleeping.

I imagine the gym is free to use but what about the yoga classes, does one have to pay for those do you know?
Thanks!

If they do yoga classes on the ship, I'm pretty sure there is no additional charge.

I just found out that our airfare went down for our flight out, I love JetBlue because they are giving me a credit for the difference to use on a future flight! Hooray!

Fish Extender gifts can really be whatever you'd like. As lucky said, magnets, Disney items, treats, glow bracelets, etc. In the past we've done glow bracelets and homemade mini scrapbooks. They can be 1 gift per cabin or 1 gift per person. I'll get a list together closer to the cruise with the cabins and ages of people participating. Some people gear the gifts to the different ages, some don't, and whatever goes. I loved it when we first participated and DD was just 2 and there were plenty of gifts that were geared to her age (Disney washcloths, little toys that weren't choking hazards, bathtime books and squirty toys, etc.).
