November 13-17, 2011 Dream Cruise

Work days left.....Fri, Mon, Wed, Thur........off Friday for Veterans day and we leave on the 12th to fly down.

Have all my toiletries in order.... suitcase is out...clothes are sorted....

Docs were sent to my mom's house instead of mine.....even after I called DCL to tell them that my address should be on the docs as I am the primary on the reservation....they told me my address was on the reservation.

Clearly is wasn't!! Luckily my mom called me to tell me she had them before I called DCL.

Completed online check in, booked the Hyatt for night before cruise, ordered my Stay certificate for the Hyatt, booked my one day car rental for the day we get off the ship (full size car for $21.00), so I am set!!!

Which Hyatt are you staying at and where did you get you car?

We are flying in on the 12th, but getting car service to the Radisson. Is there a better or cheaper way?

Thanks

We leave for WDW in 5 days! I can not believe this trip is FINALLY here! I am so excited! THis week is crazy for us, though! Its my hubby's busiest week of the year, so we have formal dinners/functions every night and Saturday. Then, on top of all of that and having my parents here over the weekend and celebrating my sons birthday, our wood floors are being replaced SATURDAY AND SUNDAY! Are you kidding me? :confused3 But, they are being replaced under warranty, so we have to take what we can get...but, OMG - could any more be going on RIGHT before we leave! I am feeling a bit overwhelmed!!!!!!!!!!

BUT< SO EXCITED...I can almost taste it!~!! :woohoo:
Where are you staying prior to your cruise? We are at OKW.I hope I feel better as have kidney infection.

ATTENTION ALL CRUISERS
Just to let you know DIZZY the UK DIS mascot has arrived with me today. He has his little suitcase of clothes and santa outfit ready. A group photo is in order for his dis cruise meet scrapbook:cool1::banana::yay::dance3:

We are staying at the Hyatt right in the airport....Hyatt Regency Orlando Airport.

Since this trip is just my mom and I, I wanted to do everything the easiest way possible....hence staying at the Hyatt and taking DCL transfers from there. In the past when I cruised with hubby and friends we always did a one-way rental from MCO to a port car rental agency and stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn in Port Canaveral (right near the Radisson). We like having a rental car to use for going out to dinner and last minute shopping. I find car rental discount codes at www.mousesavers.com and keep plugging in discount codes until I find one that I like.

The car rental agencies near the port area are....Avis, Budget, Hertz, Thrifty/Dollar and Enterprise. We have used most of them before. This time I am using Thrifty on the day we get off the ship....but I am doing it differently. Because we can take advantage of OAC Onboard Airline Check in by flying on a participating airline AND taking DCL transfers from the ship back to MCO, Disney will take care of all our checked luggage from outside our stateroom until our home airport. Our flight is not until 7:30 pm on the 17th so I do not want to sit in the airport all day so we are renting a car once we get to MCO for the day. Normally, I would do a one-way rental from the port area to MCO but I do not want to deal with luggage at all.

I know some will say that I could have done the one way rental from port to MCO and just kept the luggage in the rental car and not spend the money on the DCL transfer back to MCO but I wanted to take part in the OAC program where they will check us in for our flight and deliver our boarding passes to our cabin. It is all about ease and convenience on this trip.

For $21 bucks it is worth it to me to just rent the car for the day at MCO and then go to Downtown Disney or one of the resorts and have lunch and/or shop. I don't want to have to think about my checked luggage at all as DCL will take care of it from the ship to my home airport.

At the Thrifty site they had something called "Hot Deals" or something like that and when I clicked on that they had a bunch of car classes at great daily rates.....so I picked a full sized car and it came to $21.00 bucks with all taxes and fees.

I don't know what you are paying for the car service or large your party is but we usually get a one-way rental for about $30-50. In the past we have picked it up at MCO and dropped it off at the port area on the morning of the cruise and then just hopped on the car rental shuttle and they took us to the ship. With a rental you can also drop everyone and luggage off at the port if you wanted and then just the driver returns the car and they hop the shuttle back to the ship and meets up with the rest of the family in the terminal.

Hope this helps!!

When you say upgrade do you mean paid one:confused3 or do they sometimes do upgrades at the port? I am quite happy with our room so is it ok to refuse if they want to upgrade us? Unless for a verandah of course:rotfl2:

Yes, I'm referring to a paid upgrade at the port or shortly after boarding.

It is possible (though probably very rare) to find out upon checking in that you've received an upgrade. pixiedust: I would imagine that you could refuse, however if you're concerned you can always ask DCL to note in your reservation that you don't want to be upgraded.

Any thoughts MJ?

You are right.....it has been known to happen but is pretty rare that you find out at the port that you were pixie dust upgraded. And right again that you can note "no upgrades" on your reservation if you want. Many people agonize over picking a particular cabin and do not want to be moved for whatever reason....to ensure that you are not moved have DCL or the TA note it in the reservation.

Getting more and more excited!!!

P.S....I accidently hit edit on your post instead of quote and that is why it looks like I edited your post...but I didn't!!!:surfweb:

We are staying at Disney's Vero Beach Resort the night before out cruise and renting a car. We are flying into West Palm Beach. After the cruise we are staying at Saratoga Springs for a few nights. We are renting a car when we get off the ship so we can do some shopping on our way to Disney.

Getting very excited still have to finish the FE gifts and pack.

Does anyone know if the ship will be decorated for Christmas on the cruise?:santa:

I'm staying at AKL from Nov. 10th till the cruise.:cool1:

I just called DCL for movies that will be shown onboard for the 11/13/11 Dream and the following movies will be playing in the theatre:

Hi fellow "Dreamers"! I chimed in on this thread earlier this year to say hello, but forced myself to stay away and put our cruise out of my mind because the time was just DRAGGING! Now that we are down to single digits in days I'm letting myself go full-on crazy! I'm listening to Disney songs on my iPod and driving my co-workers nuts because I can't talk about anything else! My son (11) is at that age where he needs to maintain his "cool":cool2: on things but the last few days his first words to me each morning are how many days we have left!

I wanted to ask - does anyone else have children that will be visiting The Edge tween club? It's just my son and I going and I'm sure he's going to drop me like a bad habit 10 minutes in so he can go hang. Sounds like I will have alot to choose from to keep me busy while he's off socializing though! I really just cannot wait to just relax!

Ahhh!! Can't wait!!!:yay::woohoo:

My 11 year old very tomby daughter will be in the Edge as well.

For those of you visiting the World prior to Dreaming, they'll be lighting the castle for the first time this year starting tonight (heading out after dinner to see this myself), and the Osborne Lights start on the 10th in Studios. Don't miss them!

Oh great! Maybe they will have the opportunity to meet! I think he's kinda excited that he graduated to the Tween Club. It did mention to him that I saw that there is a "Gaga Ball" one of the nights. He informed me he won't be attending that! We'll see. He'll be there to check out the ladies! Makes me crazy that he's growing up!

Ty (my son) and I did a Land/Sea vacation in December 2009. We did the Christmas Party at MK. It was so beautiful the way they made the castle look frozen. Osborne Christmas was amazing too.

My daughter is a tomboy as well but slightly younger at 9. Can anyone tell me what I can take to be signed by the characters and how many items i can take. New to all this but hv read the characters will sign things. We leave in 2 days so if I dont get chance to post again have a great holiday prior to the cruise and will see you at the meet if i dont get lost on the ship tht is.

I think you can take two items per stateroom, and many people bring pillowcases, mats to go around photos, or large, blank vinylmations. Be creative with it!

You can bring pillow cases, photo mat, t-shirts, caps, aprons, vinylmations or anything else you can think of to GS on the first night. They will return it to your stateroom on the last night signed by all the characters on the ship, or if you request just the Fab 5 (or 6) or just the Princesses. The Dream restricts the number of items to 2 per stateroom. For photo mats you can use a sticker or sticky note for photo orientation. Put your item(s) in a zip lock baggie with different colored fabric markers, leave out the yellow marker. Prewash the pillowcases, t-shirts, etc.

It's getting so close!!!!! The ship should be decorated this week. Can't wait to meet everyone!!! Thanks for the movie list, I wanted to see Fright Night on the Halloween cruise but they started it during the costume contest, so I get a second chance!!!!

Does anyone know if we need to get a note from our dr. My 7 year old son has just come down with a cold. On the other cruises that we have been on I remember filling out a health check list before boarding but can't remember if colds were one of the questions. We are going to take him to the dr. on monday to make sure it is a cold, so if we need a note would rather get it then then have to go back.

Also from a previous post we have a 9 year old daughter but she will turn 10 on the monday of the cruise. She is girly though. But not always she has a bother.
