:flower: Welcome! Are you planning any shore excurions? ;) I am sooooo getting ready for Fall to hit and the true countdown begins! I love summer with a passion...especially where we live we have wonderful summers! But for an obvious reason I am subconsciously wishing the summer by in a hurry so I can get serious about packing and planning!

:flower: DIS NURSE
i hate to wish the summer away also but i still cant wait. i know we plan to do the st. thomas/john trunk bay snorkelling excursions. We are also thinking about a fishing excursion. What about you? Are you planning any excursions? If so what? Also I am 14 is there anyone going on the cruise about my age? Disnurse how long are you staying in disney after the cruise? We actually plan on staying a week at disney after the cruise.

Ok - Thanks - I got it fixed....I had the "waiting to join" in the wrong spot :sunny: Thanks again..... :goodvibes

No need to apolagize, you are the one doing all the work keeping the list and here I was picking on you!

i know it is kind of early to be thinking about this but do we know where we are going to meet up at on the boat?

Last time I did a meet up the first day it was on deck 10, the side of the ship that faces the terminal. But it was really crazy. :earboy2:

Have never done a meet. Let me ask some of the veteran dis cruisers where they recommend. I will report back... :wave2:

Hi all,

I feel like I sorta am jumping in late to the game here. I have spent WAY too many hours reading forums. I'm a planner & have to gather every scrap of info before making any decisions!!

Anyway, we'll be on the 11/12 Magic also. I'm (38) travelling with DH (41), DD (6) & DS (4). We're on deck 6 with an adjoining room with my parents who are celebrating their 40th anniversary. They spent the honeymoon & 35th anniv at DL, so we thought this would be a fun 40th. This is our first cruise to speak of and we are all so excited!! We're also in the early dinner seating.

I tried to read the history here & get to know you all a bit. Sounds like a fun group!

We're in Phoenix & planning on heading to FL a couple of days early so that we can visit Kennedy Space Center. Then heading back right after the cruise is over.

Can't wait to meet you all & learn more!

:flower: Welcome Choc marg! Glad you joined....the more the better IMHO! ;)

Someone could jump in at the last minute and they would be welcome! :cool1:

We have spent a lot of time at Desert Mountain in the foothills of a Scottsdale at Grandma and Grandpa's house.....know Pheonix a little bit from the cool train station museum you guys have there.....and going to preseason Giants baseball games!

We are soooooo excited too! Our first cruise as well!

Welcome Aboard and I'll update our list and repost soon...I'm still planning and trying to sort out excursions, not much time left but gathering scraps is all part of the fun. We are on deck 6 as well....but late dinner.

I've been collecting suggestions from more experienced cruisers about where to meet and will bundle these up and repost soon.

This weekend I am attempting (with much help from a friend) to work on the formal night dress.....(we will see!)

:wave2:

Thanks for the warm welcome. We definitely have so much to learn!!

DIS NURSE - I did notice that you mentioned Scottsdale in one of your posts. We live in the far N. Phoenix. Just South of the Cave Creek limits & just west of Scottsdale. I have a little Orgeon background too :) I went to college in Salem & went to lots of different places in OR on breaks since it was too expensive to fly home to Flagstaff (mom & dad still live there).

We are also trying to evaluate excursions, but are a tad limited since DS will only be 4 and the min age on many excursions is 5.

I bought a couple stuffed Mickey/Minnie dolls at Target tonight so that I can put together a little welcome aboard kit for the kids. They are having a clearance on some of their Disney stuff & I got the for $2.50 each. They are a little bigger than beanie baby size. They also had the coolest vintage Mickey & Minnie (bigger) for $6.50.

As far as formal night goes, I just don't know.... It is going to be a challenge for me to even get DH in a pair of Dockers for the regular nights. I have a dress I can wear, but I'm guessing that the rest of my party will want to buffet that night!

Hello again Choc marg.....yes, the mentioning of Desert Mountain/Scottsdale was for you......how was that terrible fire there in early June? Scary....my parents almost had to evacuate!
We live in beautiful Bend, Oregon.....spoiled by the outdoor recreation, mountains, clean air and water! :flower: Little to no rain and lots of sunshine! Unlike other parts of Oregon, we have very little fog, rain and smokey fieldburning. Didn't Barkley mention they would consider relocating someday? Bend is a little secret still....but fast becoming a boomin' hotspot. :sunny:

Oh yes, Bend is gorgeous! I visited a couple of times in college (quite a few years ago now). I think you should keep it your little secret!

Although the fire burned 250,000 acres, and was devastataing to our desert, the loss of homes was minimal in comparison to what it could have been. That fire started burning on 6/21 & was finally fully contained on 7/12. The smoke in the whole velley was really bad for several days. I can't imagine how scary it must have been for your parents. We live close enough to get the smoke & feel the effects, but we are far enough away that we weren't ever threatened with an evacuation.

Oh my - and we live where there are hurricanes. Not fair is it -- too much water here - not enough water there?

For those still deciding an excursion to go on my grandparents have done the st john/thomas trunk bay is amazing. They said it is the best snorkeling they have ever done. they said it is a path underwater with signs telling you where to go. you snorkel around the island i think it is like a 45 minute hike in the water. Any way it is just a suggestion i know we are planning to do it for sure. It sounds like a ton a fun. :fish: :thewave:

Hi folks - I have been asking around about places for a mini meet and have the following suggestions for a meeting.

Time - about 3:00 - BEFORE the life boat drill. Some past cruisers held meetings during the sail away but it was noisy, the kids were excited and wanted to watch Capt'n Mickey. Too early and not enough folk are on board. Too late and it interfers with early seating.

Place - Several were recommended.
The promanade
Scoopes
Deck 10

I have only cruised once and can't say I recall where I was at 3:00 - The promanade is recommended because it is big and open. Negatives are - folk may still be boarding.

Scoopes is recommended because it has food for kids, some acitivities if they get board and chairs for adults and far enough away from the main pool.

Deck 10 is recommended because it does not have acitivities going on at 3:00 but some negatives are that it is too croweded or noisy.

So, opinions are welcome.....We have time to plan.

Happy Countdown to HP.
