November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Okay, I laughed out loud at the above, " :crazy2: :crazy2: " because I totally empathize with you and I could also envision for a second them reading this thread! ...."Gee, trying to decide on this DCL trip....Oh, look Henry....there is a Disney Cruise meet thread right here and they are going on the same cruise we are thinking of!" :rotfl: HA HA! :rotfl2:

I hope all the planning works out.

We, too, are very interested in a good towncar service (although just the 4 of us) but our need is from MCO to Ron Jon's at Cape Canaveral on Nov. 10th. I have researched these somewhat. People rave about 2 different ones: Happy Limo and Tiffany's Town Car. I just want a "free" stop at a grocery store on the way and both of these offer that....pretty cool.

:wizard: Thumbs up on the kido-s all meeting and surely some of them frequenting the Club/Lab enough that they will get to know eachother! :grouphug:

Yes on the alien green mickey heads from Home Depot! I think I already devulged that I went in and cleaned them out one day....have them all rubber banded together in a cupboard waiting for me to get creative this Fall to make our name tags. One silly question....do you put your real name on them? I think that would be more helpful and cut to the chase. My husband still thinks we all here on the DIS boards are nuts when I try to explain things like alien green nametags! "Are you sure these people are all normal?" :guilty: :confused3 :rotfl:

That's all for now, DIS NURSE :flower:

choc marg-per the transportation board "fltours" (see the post by the web master re. "slimy florida towncar companies"). we used tiffany once for mco to wdw and they were fine-the only problem is that the 30 minutes they alloted for a grocery stop just was'nt enough time in a grocery store i was unfamiliar with the layout to (even though i had a detailed list before i got there). if i were to go this route again i would ask them which stores i had a choice of going to (if they gave us a choice-can't remember) and then contact each to see if they have a map of the store layout they would mail me (at least i would be able to make a list aisle by aisle). you may also want to think seriously about booking your port rooms now, when we checked for raddison availability for 11/11 a month or so ago the web site showed no vacancies (or at least very high rates for the available suites left).

dis nurse-it will be interesting to see if you and i suffer the "reverse sticker shock" grocery shopping i experienced on our last trip to florida :goodvibes
it floored me to see the west coast (for me, local fields i drive past taking the kids to school) produce going for half the price i pay at our local stores! this was a few years ago, and now that our produce prices have tripled in the past year i am curious to see how much less it is selling for after traveling across the u.s.. we went to the super walmart in port canaveral and found the prices incredible. our grocery shopping will be for wdw this time, and since the vacation club locations have greatly expanded their offerings on the "order ahead and have it waiting in the fridge/kitchen" shopping list i will probably go ahead and get what i can from them w/ a quick grocery stop for the rest. it will mostly be beverages and snack stuff for the kids anyway ( i don't mind paying for full meals-it's all the snack prices that drive me crazy  but i have to confess to bringing back several bags of mickey shaped pretzles every time, they're so much fun to send in the kid's school lunches).

WOW - we are really getting into planning -

I like the idea of a screen name and a real name, that way we will know who we all are.

We have two choices for a meet, Day 1 or Day 2 - I think Day 1 - even for a short 45 minutes will be good.....It will give the kids a chance to meet and we can set other times for the next days depending on the activities.

This is our second cruise and we did not leave sufficient time on the first cruise to take advtantage of ship board activities, so we don't know how busy we will all be on the second day.

Still not sure where to meet - Promodade, maybe more quiet? Scoops, maybe more things for kids.

What time is everyone boarding?

LAter. :wave2:

When considering a place to meet, keep in mind that on the first afternoon they use a lot of the lounges for Palo reservations and similar, so they may not be available when we set our time.... :cool1:

DIS NURSE - I actually did think of the fact they they might read this forum and for a moment felt a little dread. Then I decided that none of it matters anymore. We are going to make our reservations since we know we are going. They can take their chances later & hope for the best.

I'm all for real names too. Although chocolate & margaritas are among my fav things in life, I do really have a name (Teena) ;)

We luckily don't have to worry about the grocery stop. We'll have a rental car for the day or so before we leave, so we'll hit the store before we return the car.

barkley - thanks for the info on the car service. They seem like a perfect solution for us!! I think I will book them for the one-way back to the airport. Thanks for the warning about rooms too. I'll get right on that. We might be OK with the larger suites since we'll be travelling with my parents. The 2 room suite split amongst us would be something to consider.

Thaks for all the valuable info! YOu guys rock!!!

choc_marg (Teena)

Ms Teena, this is why I let all grown people plan their own trip. It is hard to plan for a group and they are dragging their feet. I will give them the information and let them book themselves. You will be surprise how people will react when they must do it themselves. I did this on a trip to Hawaii.we had 4 couples and I gave them all the information so that they could see the TA. Two dropped out and said that they was not ready but before that, everyone wanted to go. :confused3 We went and had a very good time. I would love to retire there but the wife do not want to go.

I was looking at oriental trading co. ,and they have the green jelly bracelrts for $3.95 a gross. A gross has 144 of these braclets. How about getting them and thisway we can were them on the boat all week? I you want pirate items this is the place to get it.

Great everyone is chiming in! What are the bracelets like? Are you suggesting we all wear them the whole cruise so we don't have to wonder around with green alien head name tags pierced through our shirts and swimsuits? Fabulous idea! :cool1: I like it. Way easier! Would they fall off a child's wrist? :confused3

Back to transportation....yes, FL Tours is the other co. I was trying to think of. I want to book them for our purposes and I have tried to reserve them twice on line with no success. I fill out everything they want and at the very end it is denied for some reason.....saying I haven't filled out something correctly. :guilty: I will try to call them I suppose!

I 100% agree with meeting the first afternoon. We are boarding asap! :cool1:

BTW.....DW Allison
DH Gary
DD Abby
DS Will :flower:

it's going to be a unique experience boarding without having to rush around to make our palo and spa ressies :sunny:

i love the idea of the bracelets-i'll have to hit their web site. we used to pass the catelog around at work and send in group orders, but now that i am a member of the "early retiree club" i have'nt seen one in a couple of years. i do remember that they had great stuff to put into pinatas for the kid's birthday parties as well as an alternative to candy for halloween.

the braclets are like the rubber ones worn by people today for their different causes. I was thinking about getting a bag and we could wear these for the week.We may be starting something new if we can get it to go over.Lets just play it by a green ear. :hyper2:

;) Ohhhhh.....you really could have started something! I can just see it posted on these boards in December, "Green Jelly Braclets as DIS'er IDs".....with thousands of replies and viewings! :rotfl2:

I suppose they would be too big for a lot of the kids' wrists...but I see lots of our kids' friends wear them as anklets if they are too big. ;)

If we really wanted to go all out, we could have some custom made. There are a few places online that custom make then at about $2.50-#.00 each. Several have lime green & some even have kids sizes. My 6 yo DD wears the adults ones pretty well though. The 4 yo is another story.

I haven't seen any where you can add a logo anyway. They are all just words. Maybe "DIS - Nov 2005"?

What a great idea...I will look at the site as well. We could "personalize" them with a Sharpie????? :flower:

Well, this will teach me to read threads backwards, how many do we need to order to personalize? I think the date is great - how about using our thread name as part of the title. "7-night Eastern - Nov. 2005"

LOL! I found a great site that has the neon green, no set up fees for customizing and the bracelets are $2.50 each for 20-120, but they also have 3 sizes. The only thing is that you have to order in multiples of 20. We would only have 14 characters to work with or there will be an additional $.25 per band charge. So "7nt East 11/05" would be our limit. Check them out. Google "reminderband" to find them.

Looks like it counts spaces as characters, so we go with a longer phrase for $2.75 each or figure out a really creative shortcut to 14 characters :)
