I do really hope that AWOLTODAY and family are having fun on the Magic right now....I was thinking of that earlier today....wondering what Halloween was like on the ship?

Our kids got farmed out once again tonight.....they are happy, though, trick-treating with their friends. Mommy and Daddy are kinda' sticks in the mud lately.

Me too - hope they post a report....

I learned my lesson with the trip insurance myself. I used to think it was a waste - we're young, we're going no matter what. I have had 2 claims in 2 years...... so needless to say - sometimes we buy it and it's a "waste of money" but the 2 times we had it we were very glad - one time it was Haley who was sick and the other was for my miscarriage and they wouldn't let me go all the way to California the day after my surgery. You just never know what craziness will happen! And apparently the craziness will find my family!

Hope you're both feeling better and relaxing!

Holy Cow, Allison! I'm blown away by the fact your very healthy husband was "soooo sick". I totally agree with C&D&F - I'm sure my hubby would have not said a word, just took a few antacides and gone on his merry way. I know life has been tough this last week! And,, what a decision to make! I'm thankful that Gary is still here and can go on a cruise, wheather it's now or later!! If you decide to go, atleast you have the help (to haul luggage, support etc.) of friends who are accompaning you.

You've helped to save and nurture sooo many precious lives over the years and now, you were able to put your expertise to work on your family. That's a gift from God!

I bet I don't have to tell you to treasure every minute,, because it can be over very soon!

Okay.......so since you have all heard "our news", we have HAD to make our decision on whether or not to still travel and cruise! We had long talks about the pros and cons, and we have come to the conclusion that WE SHOULD GO!

I am now getting back to being excited after being so rudely interrupted some 10 days ago!......we have been through a lot of grief, sadness, anger, and fear.

Now we are REALLY ready for vacation! We will appreciate this vacation more than many others we have gone on, that's for sure!

.....off to pack suitcases and fill out cruise docs!

......I have my fingers crossed behind my back that this is the right decision.
We see DH's surgeon in the office on Tuesday and he will give the final "okay".

Alison - WOW! I can't believe what you have been through. I'm amazed that Gary is dong so well. My FIL went in a few months ago for an angioplasty & came home a month later with a quadruple bypass. It was definitely a scary time! I hope you get the all clear tomorrow. We'll be thinking about you.

We had a great time last week. We spent the whole time with Bob & Katie (formerly Fairlydismom) & their kids. What a blast we had. We couldn't have hoped for anything more perfect. It was a great break from the realities of home!

I did talk to Captain Thord & asked about the Magic in Alaska. He said "not this ship", so when Katie said "How about the Wonder", he said that the 2009 itineraries are still being finalized, but that the Magic will NOT be in teh Caribbean during the summer of 2008. He didn't elaborate, but said the info would be released in a couple of months. Then the rebooking agent confirmed this with another Diser on board.

How were the waves compared to what we all experienced in Nov, 2005?

Yes, we have been through a lot in the last few weeks. I think things are looking up and we can continue to be happy about "leavin' on a jet plane......" on Friday.

Who was your cruise director? We liked Brent! Where did he go?

Were the shows are good as ever? Was the food the same, better?

Oh yeah! It was great. It was overcast all day with a couple of sprinkles, but really nice! I tried to send you a PM w/link to pics, but you have exceeded your quota (again?). Get that box emptied girl!

How were the waves compared to what we all experienced in Nov, 2005?

What waves? We had at worst moderate seas (8 foot) for most of the cruise. It was just enough that every once in a while I would say, "Hey, we're not docked!" The last night cruising in we had some high seas and wind. At least, that is what I heard. I slept through it. GDAC said it was worse than our cruise last year - but only lasted for a few hours.

Yes, we have been through a lot in the last few weeks. I think things are looking up and we can continue to be happy about "leavin' on a jet plane......" on Friday.

Rachel. She was fine. Brent is on the Wonder last I heard.

They have shows? We only went the first night and the last night this time. I'm not sure the food was any different. It was good. Our service was different this time. We not only saw our head server this time, but had interaction with him many times during the cruise (he was great). And to balance that, we had a second week assistant server - which was somewhat less magical

Well, YEAH! We booked the last cruise available, which will likely get moved to later in 2008 or 2009, depending on what is happening with summer 2008.

Did scary man freak all the little kids out on Halloween?

I was too busy stalking DISers to scare the kids. It is nice to not need to pack a Halloween costume!

Ben and I leave on Saturday for our 2 night cruise to nowhere as long as my doctor gives me the ok tomorrow- which she should - I have been a good patient this time - very boring!
Can't wait to hear where Disney will go in 2008 - if it's Alaska we'll be there for sure!

aloha and greetings from maui!

i sit here in the room with the cartoons blaring (the kids just returned from the hotel's kid program that took them to see the entertainment at the on site luau).

thus far dh has done one day of diving (molokini), and we went snorkleing today at both molokini and turtle town (lots of fishies and big turtles as well-some cool photos). wed. we helicopter up to hana and then van our way down via black sand beaches, and several of the water falls. the end of the week will include a night dive for dh, a morning luau (new addition to the fantastic 'old lahina'-includes a bunch of cultural activities for the kids), the atlantis sub and the maui aquarium. busy, busy, busy-so much so, unbenownst to the kids-WE ADDED TWO NIGHTS TO THE TRIP-so we don't return home till monday this should give us a couple extra days to just relax as well as hit the astronomy presentation on the hotel roof. don't know how the school will react, but what the hay-the kids will get to do a few more nature and cultural activities which i think will serve them better than practicing the same tired holday songs over and over at school in anticipation of the christmas pagent.

glad to hear everyones doing well. hey disnurse-thought about you as i was reading one of my tabloids the other day-headline read 'oregon nurse kills intruder with her bare hands'. something about a hospital nurse up your way who killed some psycho twice her size who broke into her home. man you oregonian nurses are tough

I think last year at this exact time I was begging the front desk lady at Ron Jon's Resort to let me on the Internet so I could talk to you guys one last time!

We are headed out tomorrow AM and I am REALLY excited! We sooooooo need this vacation! Forecast for PC tomorrow and Sat are fabulous! ......as is the forecast for CC on Sunday! Sunny and 80 degrees!

C & D & F......want to thank you once again for the kids' beautiful pins! They are proudly packing their lanyards and the pins are too cute!

Talk you guys when we return around Thanksgiving!

I can't beleive you are taking lanyards with you! You're going to get another one at the port! Well, they don't take up that much room But, don't forget the empty suitcase for all the stuff you're going to buy!

.......we will take lots of pictures......as we did last time and BTW, they turned out fabulous! Too bad DIS NURSE can't figure out how to post them or you, too, could enjoy a few! I am gonna go hog wild this time too!

I will surely be on the lookout for JayPD....as he is also cruising. Only difference is that this year DIS NURSE just couldn't cudle up to this STRANGE group of DIS charaters for any scheduled interactions......they are just not our cup of tea. Oh, well......Jay and I are still gonna' be on the lookout for eachother and try to say hi and maybe have a beer! Still wanna hear some of his 9-11 stories! Aren't I sick?

I will touch the sand for you all on CC! Twice, even!.......can't wait to see the look in DS's eyes when he sees the Flying Dutchman!

Be good, stay healthy......and here's to our Cardiac/ thorasic surgeon who told us to have a margarita for him!!!!!
