Hey, AWOLTODAY!!

DS walked in as I was reading your post and he said "Mom, isn't that AWOLTODAY???" Remember,,,he is only f-o-u-r yrs. old!! Your whatcha'ma'call'it - your picture - has evidently been etched into his little brain!! HA!!! pirate:

I am very glad DISNURSE made it back safely!! It truly could have turned out differently! Everyone should think twice about venturing outside a resort area alone!!

RCCL rocks! Yes, their bathrooms are small. DCL has the largest bathrooms by far! But,,,, who spends a lot of time in the bathroom?? Second thought,,,don't answer that!! :rotfl: However, as PrincessHayley'sMom stated.,,,large vessels are not for everyone. My bestfriend's husband detests the large ships. He much rather sail on a small, intimate ship. Everyone should try both then make a decision for themself!! :Pinkbounc

Oh no! I hope there won't be any psychiatric care required from viewing my avatar! I'm glad Sterling remembers me though!

Are you sure DISNURSE made it back safely? 'Cause I haven't seen any PICTURES yet! ;)

I'm with 4campers - I want to try them both. Or maybe with some intermediate size ships thrown in for variety ;) Where do we sign up?

Are you sure it wasn't your friendly neighborhood stalker (me) chasing you? ;)
Well, lets certainly HOPE that wasn't you!......this guy had his pants down around his ankles and was doing things I won't mention here on a "family friendly" discussion board.

It wasn't pretty. :rolleyes1

Yes, I made it home safely but only because I could run faster than him! :crazy2: :scared1:

It took me a few hours to tell my husband the story back at our resort. I was so freaked!

I'm certain it was NOT me. But there was that one day that I can't quite recall... ;)

Sorry I've made light of this. I'm sure that it was horrifying and I'm very glad you can run faster than that pervert. I hope he chases somebody with a TASER.

I would still like to see some pictures, though. But, NOT of the guy with his pants around his ankles.

I certainly hope it wasn't him too!!! :furious:

I've missed you guys too! I think that we had a great vibe going with this thread! We shouldn't take for granted the great relationships we had. It doesn't always carry over to another cruise meet thread. Trust me!!

Hi, Choc Marg!......I agree, the vibes are good and sooooooo different from my other (now officially abandoned from DIS NURSE :teeth: ) cruise meets thread! You should hear and :earseek: SEE the smucks I am cruising with next time! I shouldn't dare say that on this Board, should I be watched and stalked like last time :cool2: ....but I am not kidding you! They are so a league all of their own to put it lightly and I have not looked nor posted in over 2 months! Not like this blabbermouth!

No sorry's for making light of what happened to me (or could have happened to me! :guilty: ) south of Cancun......I am just thankful that I was able to use yet one another of my 9 lives!

They have been given out to me by :cloud9: someone "up above" all of my young adolescence and adulthood......just haven't been dealt one in a while....and I had forgotten. I think that was #4. I have 5 more to go, so I am okay with that. :goodvibes

I am at risk for asking this....no flames here amongst my friends, right?

WHAT IS IT about sexually perverse hispanic men living amongst some of the most beautiful beaches, and BY DEFAULT be placed with unknowing American women who just want to enjoy their hard earned vactions?

It is not right. :guilty:
I grew up in Calif where I received their messages loud and clear. Used it, okay? This was scary, cause you have no rights in Mexico and who is gonna' testify for you? :confused3

We return to Cozumel this November and am soooo looking forward to our excursion plannned......a non-Disney speed boat/beach/snorkel thing. I don't worry a bit cause it is amongst lots of professional people and other tourists. But....stray away from that scene......on your own.....or by yourself......and I am not so sure. :sad2:

Oh, Choc Marg....forgot to tell you....I have Jeff's autographed picture framed in the playroom upstairs (off the Nanny's loft and to the side of the Butler's quarter's) and it looks great! Thank you! Used the buff in Mexico. It was a hit! :woohoo:

My friend just videotaped her Survivor application tape and is sending it in for next winter's episode! She is an ex-Peace Corps. gal who lived in a mud hut for 2 years and is now married to my friend (a general surgeon). She rocks! She doesn't need the money but her video gets beyond that and she has a high chance of being picked in my opinion! Cross your fingers! Better yet, give her a good word to Jeff......I can gaurentee the only applicant married to an MD from Bend, Oregon. :teeth: Her name? Cindy Beard :woohoo:

I sit here with a small replica of the Magic in front of me (bought on our cruise) that is duct taped to the computer by my kids......it says it all for us.

We had a great time and have lots of fond memories. :thumbsup2
Thanks. :goodvibes

Are you telling me Hubbard Glacier isn't a big ol' pile o ice? :)

You got me started now. Let me introduce myself: I'm Chris, and I'm an Alaskaholic... I've been there more times than I can count (on one hand anyway) and loved every trip. But, I haven't done a proper cruise YET. And it's such a big state, I don't think I'll ever get everywhere I want to go there.

What did you do while you were in port? I'm trying to give a buddy advice (Radiance of the Seas in June), but since I've already done most of the mainstream stuff, I keep looking at the off beat stuff ;) Oh well, he's a big boy!

Buses in Mexico always suck: Whether you're in them or trying to share the road with them.

OK - after further review of the video...... Hubbard Glacier is indeed a big ol pile of ice! Watching video of Alaska is much more boring than actually being there by the way. Nothing looks as impressive as it did in person. At least Haley will be able to say when she is older that she say that big ol pile of ice - since it is going to melt away just like the rest of the glaciers..... I can't figure out how the thing has lasted this long when in the summers it gets to 80-90 degrees..... a naturalist I am not.

The Radiance of the Seas is a really nice ship! Your friend's will enjoy the trip.

And I will NEVER ride a bus in Mexico - or maybe never a bus anywhere - again...... especially one that drops me off at the Seattle airport on the very opposite side of where Delta is and then forces me to drag all 7 pieces of my luggage - push a stroller - and make sure the old people keep up with me.

Looks like we are headed back to Alaska on Sept. 2...... more piles of ice for me!

I totally agree with you that pictures do not do justice to Alaska. It is something you have to see for yourself.

You're headed back already!?! I'm SOOOO jealous! Where to this time?

Jessica,

Do you need a nanny for the next trip? :yay:

Please take me with you......................... :teeth:

DOH! Why didn't I think of that!?

How 'bout a butler, too? A Driver? A Spiritual Counselor? I could even pretend I knew something and be a guide? :teeth:

hi-i unburied myself from under all the moving boxes long enuf to make an appearance :).

we are at least semi "functional" here (translate-we have bedrooms with beds, and the bathrooms and kitchen are unpacked), but a whole lot of furniture is going to be staying in the garage until we decide if it will move with us permanantly or go off to new homes (you do not truly appreciate large rooms and spacious linen closets until you lose them, albiet at a tidy profit :teeth: ). oh well, the pain of knowing my beautiful backyard and it's mature blood orange and peach (3 varieties that came in each at different times each summer so we could make jams of each) trees along with mature plants and raised planter beds being ripped out and covered in MILES of concrete (our buyers own gazillions of jet skis, trailers and the like) is being off set by our rental having a huge yard and in-ground pool to keep the kiddies occupied this summer. all in all-we shall survive :)

i envy those of you vacationing this summer-though if i have to endure another airport anytime soon it will be far TOO soon! i realy wish more cruises left from san francisco so we could enjoy them without the hassle of traveling a long distance initialy (must remind dh to add "close proximity to cruising ports" as a criteria on the out of state move locale list  ).

i LOVED alaska (hated the actual cruise but loved the destinations), in fact if i could convince dh, i'de move there in a heartbeat (he has this silly notion that while i being retired and not having to leave home would not be inconvenienced by massive amounts of snow, he having to work outside the home would-oh well :rotfl2: ). i would kill for another order of fish and chips from the alaskan ale brewery-the best i've ever had (dh REALY lucked out on this-he left me and the kiddes while he went snorkleing. we wandered into the brewery and enjoyed our serving, raving to him when he caught up at the "lumberjack" show. i told him i'de pick him up an order and bring it back when we met up on board the ship-not knowing that the restaurant had closed because ESPN had rented out the whole place for a pre-"world champion lumberjack" telecast the next day. the waitress remembered me from earlier in the day-probably because the kids were so thrilled to see "sponge bob" on the bar t.v.-and managed to get the kitchen to do a to-go order).

so can someone update me on what everyone's doing for the summer? dh will likely do a short trip to tennessee to check it out, dd's going to go to sleep-away camp for 2 weeks, and we will likely do a few days at the beach/boardwalk-but nothing major on the horizon beyond that.

i REALY miss all of you-it was so much fun chatting regularly, and getting to meet and know everyone on board the cruise was the BEST!!! hey-princesshayley's mom, any chance (if there's enuf interest) we could figure out some type of cruise to get a group rate on? i imagine if we plan it out far enuf we could come up with some location appealing to all of us....

:thumbsup2 I vote for something in November, 2007......I am not married to the Freedom of the Seas necessarily. And I know that FOTS is much more $$$$$$. This will likey be our last DCL cruise this November cause the cost has GONE THROUGH THE ROOF! What are they thinking? :confused3

Probably have to look at either the week just prior to Thanksgiving or Thanksgiving week. But, Jessica, isn't that week of Thanksgiving the sure bet on WAY higher prices? :confused3

We stick around all summer and camp around here in the Oregon Cascades. I am all about :beach: tropical vacations in March and November. :woohoo:

See ya.

OK - I will keep you all in mind when I need a spiritual advisor/grief counselor/marriage counselor/nanny/butler on my next trip! You are all too funny! Ben has thrown a wrench in my 2nd Alasaka trip - something about taking a stupid Professional Engineer Exam - important for his career....... I stopped hearing what he was saying when he told me that one of the dates for the refresher course is when we are supposed to be coming back from Seattle..... maybe Princess Haley and I will go alone - she can be far more pleasant than her daddy at times anyway! :)

I am all for a Nov. 2007 trip! That would be sooooo very fun! We could get all sorts of goodies as a group. Especially with RCCL - they are the most generous! Thanksgiving week can be expensive - but if I grab the space now, it shouldn't be too bad! And it won't be as costly as Disney either! I like the idea of being away for Thanksgiving - but we're flexible and will go with the majority! Tell me where we want to go and I'll get something together and you can either tell me I'm crazy or Yay Jessica! I like having vacations to look forward to!

Hey Barkley - we are REALLY close to TN - like 45 mins. to Chattanooga - where are you thinking of moving to?

Well you are the girl to ask, Jessica! You are in the know about cruises and deals. I know nothing.

What IS a good deal for one on the nice RCCL ships (7 nights)....and not ST. Thomas/St. Maarten (been there done that ;) )?

We are not Veradah privey, either. :goodvibes That in of itself keeps the cost down, right?

Chip&Dale&Fun have just returned from the first Double Dip cruise! :cheer2: Has anyone elase been following that thread? I have....lots to learn about Cozumel post Hurricane and Costa Maya.

Sounds like they had a great time! :thumbsup2

Am I going to get in trouble for posting this?????? :dance3:

Here is a RCCL example:
11/25/2007
Freedom of the Seas
Total for 4 (inside cabin) $2484.64
That's Western Carib. - includes port and tax - no air.

Nope! I won't get you in trouble!....and I am the trouble maker! :thumbsup2

That sounds great! Isn't that less expensive than what I am being quoted recently? I honestly cannot remember and I was being qouted on an outside room (no verandah). Are the prices going down as the "hype" dies down? ....is the FOTS not going to be the "thing" by Nov, 2007?

I think it was $4,800 for the 4 of us. That stinks compared to what you said!

We have to travel from clear across the US so we want a good deal! :cool1:
Airfare is crazy right now! :guilty:

Question.......are all of the RCCL cruises out of Miami?

That's an okay thing...since I see the airfare out of our hometown are great from here to Denver to Miami! :goodvibes

was talking to dh today about our idea of doing a group cruise-he's all for it :thumbsup2 our preference would be a ship that has GREAT kid's club hours/facilities (based on our experience that knocks hal totaly out of the running), and idealy (for dh) an itinerary that affords lots of scuba opportunities.

the only mexican ports we've done are ensenada (iiiiiiiiiiiiiiick) and cozumel, so mexico would not be unappealing to us (besides, we might actualy manage to find something that those of us in the western u.s. don't have to plan 2 days of flights to get to/from :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 ).

my friend did rcl with a multi-generational family group ("from 8-80" :) ) and loved it-said there was something for everyone (including a non cruise enthusistic grandpa)-she did whatever ship they showed on the travel channel series "drydock". she also said that the cabins were very nicely sized and laid out (another complaint i have about hal).

so keep us in mind if anyone else is interested in putting something together.

tomorrow is our first official day of summer vacation (yeah-no more packing lunches beyond dh's south beach fare, no more trying to find backpacks, no more arguing with small rotten people about why there's no such thing as "elementary night school" that lets you sleep in all day :teeth: ), and i hope to start working through all the boxes of junk in the garage and making charity and garbage piles-no way is all this stuff coming with us on the big move).

hope everyone is well-and everyone's weather is nice (finaly somewhat normal around here, hot and breezy). take care.

You are right - as the hyped goes down so will the prices. In fact, I have seen prices for close in sailings on the Freedom starting at $899 per person - and that is for June - like right now June!
Next year the Liberty of the Seas will be out - which is the sister to the Freedom - so that ship will take over the newness hype!

Like Barkley said - size of rooms is important to us. If you get one of the family staterooms on RCCL, the cabins are a nice size. Hollands newer ships actually have some nice size cabins - RCCL can be a little small - but they are much improved over their older ships. Nothing beats the great rooms on Disney though - I will give them that!

RCCL also sails out of Port Canaveral for the 7 night Caribbean sailings.
