I've had a good time today! Sometimes we all need a good laugh - funny things usually just flow out of my mouth like diarrhea (did I spell that right? Was that too gross?). I wasn't voted funniest in my class for nothing.

I just was shocked that someone would come over and say something like that to us and now I am over it.

Thanks to Kim for getting me the Mickey heads so fast - I got them today!!!!

2 weeks from today I will be touching up my lipstick and brushing my teeth in great anticipation to meet everyone in 40 minutes!

Tell us something about yourself that we haven't learned from the boards,,,,,,,We know Houseforsale is in real estate (duh) and is related to Choc_Marg and that scary guy AWOL, Barkley & her DH are the most hilarious couple bantering back and forth, JayPD is our hero, Dis_Nurse is the most excellent premie nurse, (even so much as to be promoted to supervisor!!)
PrincessHaleysMom will probably be the youngest mom in the group,,,,,I could go on about each of you that have popped your heads out and spoke on the board,,,but what's something we haven't learned about YOU GUYS yet???? oh, and where's FavoriteAuntie?????????????

OK, I'll start; I'm fluent in sign language. I have never taken a sign language class in my life, nor has my sister, but we are both nationally certified interpreters. Our mother took a sign class at church about 30 years ago and it allllll snowballed from there.....My sister & I grew up around deaf people due to our mother's volunteering efforts in the deaf community. She even founded the deaf center in Pensacola 20 years ago.

Soooooooo let's hear it,,,,tell us something about yourself!!!!

o.k.-barkley is a member of the "early retirement club" from department of social (children & family) services, she has done scads of theatre (even got paid a few times) and met her dh when he arrested her (on stage) for bad dancing and subversive cookie distribution barkley's dh is a techie through and through-both children were exposed to computers as infants cuz dad would sit them on his lap while he was sitting at the puter desk. barkely's dh is also an avid sci-fi fan (our tivo is firmly tuned to the sci fi channel on friday nites).

Haley can sing any song after hearing it just one time - in tune and all. She comes from 2 parents who can't carry a tune even in the shower. Maybe we can get her to perform for us on board!
Ben is a civil engineer who is anal retentive about everything. He will measure to make sure he is not off on hanging something up even by 1/16th of an inch. He does a lot of work designing master planned communities. He even played golf with Davis Love III once.
I guess I am the youngest mom here and I guess I am also the board bully. I was once in the half time show for the Super Bowl - Winona Judd sang and me and about 200 others did a little dance with a pink glowing stick. I kill all houseplants no matter how hard I try and I always burn muffins on the bottom only.
I have no other talents at the moment - tomorrow is another day.

Wow! Took me a while to figure out what happened. All I can say is "whatever". We'll move on...

Can someone give me the details of the postcards and wine from your home state? I told DH about it today, and could not give him any particulars. Date? Time? Place? I guess I'm not paying attention. I'm too busy worrying about ALL that I have to do to get ready for the cruise, and have not started any of it yet. 2 weeks will go by VERY fast.

Ok a little about me huh....No need for the hero title it makes me blush....Ok yes I am really a police officer I work for the NYPD for the last 11 years I am also work for Dreams Unlimited Travel. DW also worked in civil service as a Welfare Examiner until our second child was born. We have a 5 and 1 year old. Wife and I will be getting RE married on board for our 10 year wedding Aniv....I play as much golf as I can wait let me re word that. I tend to play in the woods a lot(looking for golf ball). Don't really know what else to add at this time I will think of something in the next two weeks .

And I am also one of the only Noles fans in NY.

You and I are members of the same retirement club! I have an MSW and did protective service for dept. of human serv. of Washington, DC (boy, can I tell some stories...). I mostly did foster care (after kids were removed from their homes). I retired 10.5 years ago to stay at home with my dd10. Kept thinking I might go back to work, but kiddies kept coming.

My dh is also a techie (now doing patent law). He just got a tablet computer? to add to the 2 laptops and 4 desktops in this house! We have a huge room in our basement where he keeps all of his "collection" of comic books, star wars and star trek toys. Fortunately, we also have a large wine cellar down there where his collection mentality continues. Now this is one collection I can get into! Anyone wanting to know about comics will certainly hear an earful!

....I was waiting for barkley.... she's the next mother hen of our thread. Goll, are we protective or what? We just all know that this cruise is gonna be so much fun....with sunshine, smooth waters, and NICE people! And with two weeks to go, who needs such nonsense?

jmkclee....I would love to hear from your DH the entire real story about why it is that no one can publicly show or view Bugs Bunny or Road Runner cartoons anymore? They are in court or something? Not even in print anywhere!

You all know way too much about my crazy life so i'll be quiet here.

jaypd.....you forget to tell us what it is like to be a DIS BOARD moderator. What all is involved? How many of there are you? Are you broken up into groups to oversee things? Does the policeman catch flame throwers? Would love to hear someday.....maybe over a few glasses of wine.

Just spent an hour packing....of course, with our door locked shut. It is exhausting! I need a nap now. I am running out of hiding places to pile the accumulating suitcases....they are currently stuffed in our walk in closet. Hope the kids don't go in there and start asking questions. If they do, they'll get....."Mommy is so organized that I am packing for Mexico already!" (trip to yes, beleive it or not....south of Cancun in March).

So, while I realize that we are late on the ball on this, but did you all book this tour privately or as a group? Is there still room? We decided to do one excursion and after much researching, I have decided this is the one I would like to do. (It also helps that it appears that this is NOT a Disney sponsored excursion and that my 4 y.o. son could go...most other excursions of this type thru Disney start at age 5) Doubloon was also considered, but I don't think that we will like St. Martin that much so Lord was it (aside from the fact that I would have to leave DS in the kiddie club...not that I am opposed, I just want to be with him). I was excited to go to Orient beach until I found out that there is crashing waves there. When I go to the Carribbean, I want no waves for the kiddies. We have a beach house on the Delaware shore, lots of crashing waves there. I don't want them in the Carribbean. Hey, I want to relax, too! So, Maagen's Bay will be our beach day (aside from CC which we love).

Oh, and DIS Nurse, just asked DH and he doesn't know about Bugs or Road Runner. He is more into Superheros (DC & Marvel Comics). And, of course, DS is now addicted to "Daddy's Comic Book Room."

I am a Registered nurse and my specialty is Emergency Room Nursing. I have always had an interest in emergency nursing. It is exciting and has made me open my eyes and realize not to take things for granted. Live everyday like it was my last (and thats what I plan to do in 13 days) I am working my way towards working on MED-Flight (Flight Nursing).

My husband is a Firefighter/EMT. He loves his job and wouldn't change his job for the world. It is a very scary job but he is a great firefighter! I've seen him work.

We work crazy schedules and do our darndest to work the same days...so we can spend time together. It's hard keeping any hobbies because our shifts we work cause us to work crazy hours..But when we do have time we just like to spend it together .

Well this is a neurotic woman's dream come true! Lots of nurses, police and firefighters on this cruise! Just knowing you're all there makes this worrier relax and I haven't had one glass of wine yet!

Just saw great pics of Castaway Cay taken yesterday by Rob and Cass (on Timon's live thread)....and ouch! There is gonna' be some damage evident but hopefully not too bad. They got hit harder than I thought. He said there was only one fish to be seen! I doubt we will be renting snorkel gear there.

There is sea weed galore on Serenity Bay (beach).......the family beach looked better.
NO MORE HURRICANES! okay?

Oh, and welcome to the other nurse! Yeah! I used to be on our flight team a few years back...I'll give you all the pros and cons if you like. It was fun and exciting, but I went back to the bedside about a year and a half ago. I missed the little premies and sleeping at home every night.

Yes I was at 9/11 When we are on the ship I will tell you about it if you like. I have no problem talking about it so don't be afarid to ask. I find it easier to speak that hold it all in.

omg-the "shop talk" that could happen on this trip are amazing!

jyapd-did your wife work in eligibility determination? both dh and i did for cash, foodstamps, foster care and medical.

jmkclee-foster care! whow-dh was an eligibility specialist in this and my first supervisory position was in foster care. that is such a gut wrenching program-the county i worked for had a revolving door for cps workers, they burned out so quickly. kudos to you for the work you did! dh is still in the "thick of it" though from the tech standpoint. all of the systems he works with are used by health, mental, social services (and with all the changes he tells me about i am so glad i am gone!). on lord sheffields-check out their website, they respond very quickly to emails, and i think the last time someone checked there was still some room, we all booked privatly cuz initialy not enuf of us wanted to do it to snag the entire boat, but it looks like it will pretty much be that way anyway.

disnurse-i am going to have to grab something warner brothers themed for your kids, we have tons down here (in fact dh will probably be wearing his daffy tshirt at the very least). and yes, we are a protective group (kind of like siblings-we may pick on each other, but if someone from outside gets involved WATCH OUT!).
