November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

"The fire, which started Wednesday afternoon near Chatsworth, northwest of Los Angeles, already has scorched at least 16,975 acres and threatens Simi Valley to the north and Thousand Oaks to the west."

Any of our cruisers near here? I hope not.....

Perfect - I'm thinking of the Surprise Party these kids are going to throw for Dis Nurse 50th........Maybe we will all show up and deck her with green wrist bands????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: and make her walk the plank pirate: pirate: while eating souffle's  and drining wine :teeth: with a duck :cool1:
The party may be in a home for parents that believe in imaginary friends. I know that you see sick children all day long and to provide your children with love and an unspoiled childhood is important to you. If we all could have had parents like you! :lovestruc :cheer2: :cloud9:

ok - I was with Dis Nurse on this,,,NO trip insurance! I've never purchased it before and taken (many, many) trips, so I just thought it was something I didn't need,,,,BUT,,,,,after reading your post,,,,I'm scared!! I guess I've been lucky all my life and now you guys have me wondering when my luck is going to run out!!! I also know the backend of the trip insurance because we sell it with our beach rentals. I can't even think of the name of the company that we sell for. (I think it's CSI-it's built into our reservation software.) Sooooo, I know the markup and the push to sell it,,,which made me leary of it. Out of the insurance we have sold, no one has cashed it in to my knowledge. We do have people cancel their vacations for various reasons, but not many. I think DH and I may need to talk about it now!!! Thanks for the feedback!!!

I believe that Dom and I would be the closest and we are about 40 to 50 miles away. Was watching this on the news last night. Just so scary for those that live in those homes plus the possibility of getting to watch it burn on live tv. I remeber being about 5-6 miles away from the fire in San Diego this time in 2003. DD was only 2 months old. DH made both of us stay the night at a friends house until it was under control. Hope everyone gets out ok. Prayers and :grouphug: to those affected.

Thanks guys....for all the pointers! I knew there were "free Disney tricks" out there somewhere and now I know what to try! Thanks for the feedback!

Our kids are semi-approaching the ages to do Universal but I am not so sold yet. The restaurants at City Walk, however, are right up their alleys! ;) We will have fun just exploring!

Someday (in a few years.....maybe even next year?) I will be open to the adventures and cost $$$$$ of a possible visit to Discovery Cove. If anyone has had first hand experince with this place, speak now or forever hold your peace. :goodvibes
BTW, ultimatley....I know full well that I will be in an old folks home someday with Depends diapers on....it's just the nature of sacrifice in being a nurse.

Today I (we) had a meeting with the head of Human Resources and the hospital administrative hooga-ma-roll on the very subject of, "Who is in charge of the NICU on a daily basis?" the answer was the most senior nurse and believe it or not...that includes me! All 36 years of me! :) I will (starting in Nov.) get a substantial pay increase for "running the place" and stop taking a full assignment of babies...maybe be assigned to one sick baby so I can "run the ship", so to speak. I will also oversee the Pediatric floor. All of these changes come at a coincidental time, when I am looking for more $$$ to support my Disney cruise habit and when I wonder to myself...."don't I work hard enough to justify really nice vacations that the kids will really remember?" The answer is obvious and all I have to say is that our kids are lucky. I try to drill that through their little HARD heads on a weekly basis.

Congratulations DisNurse on your upcoming promotion!

Have a great day and weekend ship mates. Up early for business travel - Tallahassee and Tampa.....See you Sunday perhaps...

trip insurance has a big mark up ,thats why most people go to insure my trip.It is cheaper but at times it does pay off.Last year when disney was hit with the hurricanes, people where able to use the insurance to recover some of their lost. If you get hurt or sick, it will pay off. Our very frist cruise a man was taken off of the boat because of a heart attack. The cost of that hospital stay! Its like car insurance, when you don't have it,then you will have an accident. Maybe the real barkey can hook us up with his cousin, the insurance goose. Any one else getting the ads for gaming?

Isn't that the classic (you can substitute medievil here if you want) medical procedure to excise demons?

too messy! i've always thought "uncle fester's" headache treatment looked inviting (head in vice, turn until a large popping sound-headache gone!).

dh-pick up a vice on the way home-i'm ready to try anything :sad1:

I would do anything for you. But I won't do that - Oh no! No, I won't do that.

We are actually farther then 50 miles away. No chance of this getting close to us. :)

i just added $33.14 to the margarita fund!!!

seriously, if you are staying at wdw before or after they have just implemented some big discounts. i called and found out that i could save $33.14 on one nite's stay. i did have to change hotels but it was no biggie bucause we just need one night prior to our dvc check-in (i will not pay points for weekend stay nites) so we will now be at coronado springs the night of 11/5, then on to ssr 11/6-11/10, and 11/11 at the rad.

the discount code is BJV.

Thanks 'yall for the "congrats" but that is not necessary....my job is the best on the planet IMHO! I just am thrilled that I can help more little sick soles and also get paid a little bit more for doing so!

.....what I really want is your blessings to justify all of these EXPENSIVE vacations that (I believe) are therapuetic for myself, DH , and our two kids.

.....I may skimp on my hair and nails and clothes....and still shop at Wal Mart pirate: God forbid!......but I continue to be indulgant when it comes to vacations!

My DH and I occasionally debate this topic....when I pick up an "extra shift" and he scouls at me...., saying," if it wasn't for all these expensive vacations you wouldn't need to work so much!".....We disagree.....and I am confident that we only disagree because we havn't quite reaped from their benefits yet.....but Oh, so soon! :cool1:

I dare you to ask him on NOV. 19th what he thinks of my "extra shifts!?" :rotfl2: He is in for the time of his nerdy little computer life! :rotfl:

the wife just did a "bobby brady" but she was using the dishwasher. She called me up stairs and said "the dishwasher is over flowing!" The floor had soap on it. I asked her how much soap did she put in and of course she said only one tablet. :confused3 All soap and no water. :rolleyes1 As Iwas getting the soap out she said , a cup had a little soap on it. Of coure the little soap turned out to be a lot of soap.Maybe she want be in a hurry to prewash every thing.Time to cut the grass.

I can't remember who it was that had family that might have wanted to go, but now there is magically space left on our sailing in every category!
