Don't forget celebrating my first warm water dive...

again-IT IS A SCHOOL NIGHT FOR YOU!!!! and YOU HAVE A TEST TONIGHT!!!! why are you cruising the boards?

plus-you did your dive training in a year round heated pool, so what is the big deal about it being a "warm water dive"? you always complain that i make baths too hot-maybe you should just stick to "tempid dives" :earboy2: :earboy2: :earboy2:

Also, we have good friends (DD's best friend from school) staying at The Yacht Club/Boardwalk. ...my DD nor her friend have any idea they are going to see eachother! They will freak out! :cool1:
your surprises will cause your kids to have serious bed wetting problems. :rotfl2: One day when they are old and married, someone will give them a surprise party and they are going to pee all over the floor thanks to you. :rotfl: :rotfl2: :hyper: :rotfl2:

I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face LAUGHING :rotfl2: at your comment! You are right on! I think that my sponanaity may well come full circle to bit me in the butt someday!

So many things for us to be excited about on this cruise....'cause most of the entire vacation is in one way or another "A SURPRISE!" Please don't any of you blow it say on the last day of the cruise, "have fun at the Nickelodeon Hotel!" pirate:

You are too funny....bed wetting and other off the wall pediatric ailments are right up my alley! I think that is sooooo funny! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Jeez......I hope I don't have long lasting effects on my childrens' married lives...but you never know! :confused3

I still stomp my husband's hiking boots in flour and place them around the house as "Santa Tracks"....looks so real! Like he walked in with snow on his boots! They are total 100% beleivers still! 100% Easter Bunny and 100% Tooth Fairy! :cool1:

I have anxiety over what will happen when they figure out I have been lying BIG TIME :teeth: through my teeth for years!

Even the Thursday AM character breakfast onboard I am leaving for a surprise! We'll just be going to "another boring breakfast" come Thursday and WOW! There's Mickey! My DS loves Donald....hope he's around a lot. :flower:

Thankful and so lucky, DS (5 and almost 6 y.o.) doesn't have bed wetting problems unlike many of boys his age).....you would think being a son of a pediatric/neonatal nurse he would have the works just by default! He does, however, have a serious eating thing! If any of you are seated with us please hlp us by encouraging him to eat! He'll listen to to other people....just very little to DH and I. Then I promise I will wisk them off to the Clubs. ;)

The nurse really needs some help! Santa, Easter bunny, lockness moster,Elvis is still alive, and she is also telling her kids that big foot helps to pick cherries and apples. When they find out the truth, someone will be in trouble. If they put you in a home one day, You will know why :rotfl2: :rotfl: Get the depends ready :rolleyes1

hey dis nurse-from what i've been reading about the eats at the nick hotel you better fill up on the boat! seriously, read the resort posts-sounds like a good place for a limited (parent sanity wise) stay, but best to make off site dining plans!

my kids are (and if they are anything like me will continue to be) big believers in tooth fairy, easter bunny and santa. whenever they hit me up with the "such and such sez there's no santa it's mom and dad" i just look them in the eye and say "well dad and i believe in santa, did'nt he leave us gifts under the tree last year?". since santa always leaves gifts for dad and i they are smart enuf not to buck the system :goodvibes of course i had co-workers who thought i was the most evil person because of our "elf e-mails" to the kids...many moons ago i got tired of the kids arguing around christmas and using the "santa is watching" line, so one day i called up dh at work and told him about some arguement the kids got into that day-surprise, surprise: an e-mail popped into the in box later that evening from "sparkle and jingle at north pole.com", it told the kids that they were their "assigned elves" and remarked that they were peeking in and happened to catch them arguing with mom about cleaning their rooms :rotfl: the kids were like "oh-no!". several times over the next few weeks there were e-mails that reflected on good and "naughty" things that had occured during the day. in our home santa is still alive and well :teeth: (i had co-workers who thought this was so mean!). oh, well... "sparkle and jingle" still send e-mails around the holidays, and i suspect will send one to the kids while we are on vacation to say they were doing a last minute vacation before the big holiday rush and happened to see them somewhere at wdw :sunny:

hey-my brother has them convinced that my mom is soooooooooooooooooooo old that she baby sat santa when he was a kid :rotfl2:

Perfect - I'm thinking of the Surprise Party these kids are going to throw for Dis Nurse 50th........Maybe we will all show up and deck her with green wrist bands????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: and make her walk the plank pirate: pirate: while eating souffle's  and drining wine :teeth: with a duck :cool1:

DID SOMEBODY SAY "CHRISTMAS?"

You all probably have already done this, but...

I verified if my insurance covered rental cars. All insurance is different. Mine does not cover rentals at any of the islands, including the US Virgin Islands, although it would cover a rental in the US.

Just one more thing off the check-list...... :cool1:

This thanks goes to Barkley - was reviewing the check listed posted on another thread.

All of you may think I am crazy, but we DON"T HAVE TRIP INSURANCE! I just have that much confidence that everything will go as planned! I don't know why I bought it for our trip south of Cancun in March and not this one? Maybe 'cause we are going to Mexico (in March) where Americans essentially don't have any rights? I KNOW that some of the unfortunate events that could occur onthe DCL experience would be backed up and corrected by Disney themselves. Oh, well...too late now!

Nov.12th .....here we come! :flower:

Oh, and yes....about the food at the Nickelodeon Hotel...I have read MNAY negative things aboiut their food and am prepared for the worst. We will be stuffed pigs going into it though (off the Magic) and I am planning on making lots of grocery store runs down the street (or take out restaurants). We will have a fridge and a microwave that'll probably save us too.

I do want to venture to Downtown Disney a few times at night. Where I haven't been is Universal's City Walk. Any info on this place? Do I have to pay just to park there? Did I read somewhere that after 5 or 6 p.m. you don't have to pay? Would this be a good plan for entertaining dinners at night?

Also, any hints on fun free things to do like be able to take a disney boat from somewhere to somewhere to go eat dinner somewhere? Is there anything at Fort Wilderness that's interesting? How do you get there?

I certainly don't plan on paying park entrance just to eat somewhere fun (although the Liberty Tree character dinner was a blast last year in MK!)

Thanks for any guidance.... :flower:

it's never to late to buy trip insurance! i get it cuz if i don't one of the kids will will themselves into getting an ear infection that my hmo won't cover (they say it's not "life threatening"-i say "you get on a crowded cross country plane with a sick, whiny kid and see if your life isnt threatened" :teeth: ).

Hey Barkley...I just edited (added to) many questions to my above post that you may know about....you seem to be a wealth of knowledge! :rotfl:

Oh please don't encourage her... :worship:

Maybe I shoud edit this and delete it - or I will never get any - :cold: :cold: :cold:

just ignore the egghead's comments -he's a bit "cracked". we've never done universal, but i do have "the cheapskates guide to wdw and beyond"-and it lists all the things to do that don't require getting into one of the parks.

i'll take a look at it later and see what they say and make a post later today-if you want to pm me your address i will gladly pass it on to you for "your in flight reading enjoyment" :teeth:

Disnurse - I have had to cash in on my trip insurance twice in two years...... I have also had a client just this week have to cancel their trip that was to occur next week and lose 50% of their fare. It also covers if someone in your family were to be sick or well.... die - I have had 2 clients whose mother's died mid-trip and have to come home. Insurance paid for it. Not trying to be a downer because I am sure you will be fine, but just like to warn everyone - I've seen it all!
I think Disney's insurance is a little pricey. I used insuremytrip.com and it was $79 total for the 3 of us to insure about $2900.

My favorite DD resturants are (in no particular order):

HOB (Ship Poorboy is out of this world)
Raintree Cafe
Ghiaridelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop (Need I say more?) :teeth:
Wolfgang Pucks Grand Cafe (Expensive but worth it)

Responding on Trip Insurance --- we too were not big believers, BUT with an older DM, we are worried more worried about her health, than ours. Trip Insurance is priced based on the date you buy it, I think, so look now, the amount you can recover may be less, now that 60 days is past.

It will not cover "pre-existing conditions", so if you wait for DM to "get sick", "have a fall" or otherwise change from the current state, it may not cover that condition. There are all sorts of other small print. There is a thread on this.

It also comes with a medical rider (not sure if you can buy the medical without trip) that if you purchase it, the medical will cover things like helicopter when DS walks the plank and falls in. My cousin needed this when she fell on a hike and rolled off the cliff....It was a freak accident, but she needed to be flown from Italy to England....so you never know.

So - I suggest you explore the current options.

Hints for free things at Disney

Gosh - I have read so much on this but can I find a link now....no....

Here are our favourites but we do not have kids.

1. Animal Kingdom Lodge - go in the evening and walk around the pool and savanna areas. They sometimes tell stories at the fire pit at night and have guides to tell you about the animals. Or breakfast for the buffet ($$).

2.Ft. Wilderness - Campfire night is fun. Take a boat from Ft. Wilderness to the Contemporary. They used to have great desserts at the lounge at night.(Kids can play in the Arcade - you can have a drink)

3. Watch the Fireworks at the Beach by the Polynesian. (Better with a drink from the Tiki Bar)

4. Ride the monorail around the hotels.

5. Tea at Grand Floridan for DD and you - some DS are ok, others are not.

6. Walk the Boardwalk at night - watch Illuminations from the bridge.

7. Ride the boat from Port Orleans to Downtown Disney.

8. Take a DVC tour - what the heck - it is free - you need an appointment.

9. Wander around Wilderness Lodge - check out the trains at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. Walt's old set is there.

As far as insurance goes. I also use insuremytrip.com My wife had a bad asthma attack and they paid for everything no problems.
