November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

The plan is that each family get 30 postcards (that's enough to cover each of the kids). I think that we all have different ideas about what to put on them, but I was going to add a few facts about my state (state flower, bird, etc.) and a pic of teh 4 of us for future reference. I believe that we are signing them with our DIS names. It is really just a chance for the kids to have a short geography lesson while they are pulled out of school :)

I am bring 30 post cards, even though I don't have kids, and 5 of each card. I purchased mine (admittedly) from the dollar store. They are from Florida, West Palm Beach etc. Mine do not have pictures on them....I have a cute one of the real Chip and Dale, with Hedgie and I......(DH is shy) - I will think about that, but perhaps the kids would prefer Hedgie alone.....Your suggestions.

Today's 5 were various pictures of Florida Alligators - so I wrote:

"There are many Alligators in West Palm Beach Florida. Chip&Dale&Fun saw several growing up in West Palm Bch. The GATOR is the mascot of University of Florida, where I attended college. The Alligator is also the official state reptile. November 2005"

or something like that. I will use a slightly different version for each of the 5 cards, but basically the same theme as Choc-marg suggested. This way two kids in one family can get a different card...ok, we will NOT be that organized. I envision mad dash confusion on deck 4 where we will all be rounded up and taken to the Brig, having to post neon green wrist bands as bail to get out!!!!! :rotfl2:

I just spoke with Disney about the dining situation. She put us down as waitlisted for the early seating and if we don't get it, we will have the 8PM. She said they finalize dining 2 weeks prior to sailing and that I should call back and see what is going on then!

Got it - thanks.....Any excursions to add. And I think you said you have Palo's dinner but no brunch?

BTW, where did that cute little plush duckie come from? I want to hear the history! ;) Was she from a commercial store?...from a high-end toy store?....from an upper-end chocolate and candy store?.....from the GoodWill store?......from a donation (hand-me-down) of the neighbor down the street?......from Target?.......I know......she must have been purchased with love from the LAO SCHWARTZ store in Manhatten!??????........if you tell us she was purchased from Wal Mart, paid for with food stamps, we will surely make you walk the plank!!!!!!!! pirate: pirate: pirate:

Although my DW will contend that BARKLEY was brough into this world after many hours of labor, the *REAL* story is that she kept telling me when we were dating that she was going to trade me in for a duck. So, I went out on Easter and got her a duck... Thus saving myself for being sold into white slavery.

dh-you fail to tell the full story. you were in fact "squwatting" in my apartment and refused to leave (while you had both an apartment of your own and a room at your parents) :)

ducks are god's most intellegent creatures: when it gets cold they fly (without the hassle of airline reservations) to warmer clients, when they are hungry they park themselves in close proximity of children spilling crumbs.

when i die i want to come back as a duck at "tom sawyer island" at disneyland-all the popcorn, ice cream cone remnants and french fries you can eat :teeth:

p.s. where's my baby elephant (i've been threatening to trade you for one for years)?

Lets see, the cruise is for 7 days and it seems that the planning has taking on a trip that would last for 8o days :hourglass :teacher: Lets leave the crew something to do. If I miss cc this time, I hope that a big fish ,aka a whale is nearby so someone will not drown. Current affairs will not get this story because we will take over the cabin and swip their cards for them. I will even pack the bags and pick them up at the port to make sure no one ask questions. :smooth: Does walmart sell post cards? I need some with tooth less people on them asking can they help me!

gee, you're all making me feel so welcome :scared1: if i fake my own disappearance does that mean you'll still pack my return luggage for me :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc (plus you get to assume the responsiblity for the kids......hmmmmmm :goodvibes

The Real Barkley's pirate phobia dates back to the early 90's-he watched some movie with us (maybe "swiss family robinson") and was put off by the rude behaviour of the pirates. he felt that if pirates could induce parrotts to join them, there could be pirate ducks as well. pirate: he refused to join us on a short cruise to ensanada. he was also not impressed with the long flight to maui in '93 "too long, too boreing, too cramped in the carry on bag".

we are in negotiations with him now to see if he will join us, but it's touch and go-he enjoys the prospect of unlimited tivo and coookie access, but most of all freedom from the kids :teeth: he may change his mind when he hears of the buffetts and remembers the rids he rode at disneyland many moons ago (he does have formal attire left from our wedding as well as pirate garb that he could bring along :rotfl: ... we'll keep you updated).

ooooohhhh! We are bad, aren't we? :rotfl2: When we all pass on our sun-leathered bodies (from so much cruisin' :dancer: :boat: :dancer: :boat: with DCL) someday to this crazy-butt world, we will surely be sent to the Wal Mart Hell :guilty: where polyester and the smell of Mc Donald's french fries permeate your every fire-laden inhale. :rolleyes1

Your heels will be bruised from shopping carts raming your achilles tendons 24 hours a day. You will not be able to escape the chronic escalating beeping of the cash registers. You will be forced to lick the isle floors every 4 hours for 15 mintues at a time. You will escorted to the "break room" three times a day where you must mingle with the employees (all the while keeping an ongoing stat sheet of the tooth to tatoo ratio)....and if you are wrong in your calculations at the end of the day, you will be assigned to sell Girl Scout cookies out front the following day. pirate:

better girl scout cookies than those giant melting chocolate bars!

hey, i read another post-we can request mickey wine bottle openers when we have our drunken (sorry-"cultered") wine exchange. i think we can also hit them up for some real wine glasses (and does'nt the room service menu have some kind of cheese, fruit and cracker plates?).

i think your version of walmart hell should also include being tethered to a child on each arm, each pulling in a different direction. one shouting "i want yugio cards" the other "i have to go to the bathroom". you also have to spend a period of time in agony, trying unsuccesfully to get one of the self serve check out machines to correctly scan all of your items :rotfl: :rotfl:

Choc_Marg is out tonight - Bunko (is that really a game?). Her mistake. That leaves me here to shop. What did I do before there was internet shoppnig? :drinking: Nevermind, we shouldn't go there.

Walmart.com doesn't seem to have any pictures of employess missing teeth or with tattoos.

Come on Real Barkley - I'm going, and I hate the carry on bag, but I have free roam of the ship once there.....and the food and drinks are great. I won't let them take me to the pool, and I won't go to Castaway Cay unless I am in my zip lock baggie (I hate the water), but love the parties!!!!

I have a pirate vest and a formal hat........

You'll have to make sure that the taller ones (adults - they say they are - hah) put you way up high away from the reach of little kids fingers......

Besides, I bet that you would look cute with your picture taken with Donald and Daisy on formal night!!!!!!!

What a great idea....now where and we are the adults having culture? WHERE? How many of us are participating? And I must remember to order my Florida wine?

The room service has a great "All hands on Deck Platter". We ordered it each day we were on our 4 day (no wonder clothes did not fit).

Where are the kids haveing the post card exchange? - at our meet on Day 1 at 3:00 - they could all meet each other??????

What is the thread number for the other post???

5 more post cards written....and I am not a morning person, so I must bring home white out for a few corrections :rotfl2: I am sure the kids will not mind or notice......

HI - me again.....tell me if this is too much but I was looking on line and found a great site - http://www.enchantedlearning.com/usa/states/florida/
If you will page down, you can find all the states....

So, I thought I would put some "fun facts" on our maps for the kids....They will get school credit for the cruise if it kills me......This is what I selected for Florida.....If you think it is a good idea, please summarize your state and cut and paste it here and I will compile them all.

If it is not a good idea, my feelings will not be hurt at all, less to do...

No, I am not volunteering to link in all the pretty pictures.

The other option is just to print the page for each of our states, but that will add up to lots of paper......
