November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

As of now we are just plain 'ol late seating with a preference of PLA. I would love to get 8:00 instead of 8:30....so I may call and try to reserve that. I'll let you know if they go for it.

get off this thread-you are supposed to be at school doing the lab time for your class, not cruising the boards :teacher: does your teacher know what you're doing :badpc:

not that we would'nt, twas cuz we could'nt.

cruise #1- hugo hit just before our departure. all the ports were scrapped (and castaway cay was trashed enough to keep it closed for several cruises)-we became the inaugural "western" cruise. 4 days w/cozumel only port.

cruise #2- then "tropical storm" michelle (she had'nt hit land yet) was bouncing around us. the captain tried to port 3 times but then called it a day. cute thing-our cruise director on that trip was also named "michelle", after the captain announced "we will not be porting at castaway cay due to michelle" she took a lot of good natured ribbing (unlike the folks at the desk who had to deal with a zillion passengers screaming "i paid x number of dollars for my kids to go to disney island-what are you going to do? i want some money back!". sorry-safety on disney comes first (thankfully  ).

so figure our bad luck is your good luck-what are the odds of us not making it a third time..........

I figured that was the reason! You know what they say - about things in threes..... certainly we won't have bad luck this time. I think I've had enough bad luck for the year. Last time we were on the Disney Cruise, Ben got sick and was quarantined for 2 days leaving me with our 4 month old in a room by ourself! Now those were some good times!! :rotfl2:
This is going to be the best cruise ever - I guarantee it! :sunny:

Well, by the time we get to castaway cay, we will already have one mutiny under our belt. What's one more? pirate:

#1 would be the reason I would be very hesitant to cruise in September (along with a host of other reasons).

#2 Hopefully, Michelle won't be on our cruise. But, if she is, she can walk the plank with the rest of them when we take over the ship.

If there's a #3, you're walking the plank to swim with the fishes!! :fish:

you cant scare me-i just got called a "hero" in another thread :earboy2:

Well, I'm sure you are a hero in another thread. In fact, you are a hero in this thread. But, if we don't get to castaway cay, you're going to be our scapegoat :rolleyes1 ;)

if you were aware of what my "hero" status was based on you might reconsider :cool1:

BTW, where did that cute little plush duckie come from? I want to hear the history! ;) Was she from a commercial store?...from a high-end toy store?....from an upper-end chocolate and candy store?.....from the GoodWill store?......from a donation (hand-me-down) of the neighbor down the street?......from Target?.......I know......she must have been purchased with love from the LAO SCHWARTZ store in Manhatten!??????........if you tell us she was purchased from Wal Mart, paid for with food stamps, we will surely make you walk the plank!!!!!!!! pirate: pirate: pirate:

I decided against posting each reply in a new thread to get the count up ;)

This made me LOL thsi weekend! Thanks for the laugh!

do they only have dis'ers booked so far for that sailing? or would we be bumping some other folks already booked :guilty: ?
if we can pull it off, we are currently booked for 2 adults/2 kids so that would take the total needed down to 21... :bounce:

I actually have an e-mail in to Captain Rin right now asking about the numbers booked & if we need to give him our CC# since I read that you had been contacted. When we booked, he said that they weren't requiring deposits, but would once they got the reservation system in place. Guess that is now. So, once I hear about how much space is available, I'll let you all know. We are all booked for Nov 14 right??? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Kidding! My worst fear is to book for the wrong day. DH & I actually did that once when travelling to London. We forgot that I would be travvelign overnight & booked a room for a night when I was in an airplane & he was with his company. We had to pay for the extra night :(

Announcement - Choc-marg - We were packing for WDW and DH asks - do you have my wristband ready.......it was out of the wrapper and on his wrist the entire trip. (OK so it is no pback in the wrapper) but you would be proud. We "showed" off for our May Cruise - that is the thread with 100000000000 posts on it......many returning cruisers... And HAH, we had something they had not thought of and everyone admitted it was Cool :cool1: Way to go 7 Day Eastern :cheer2:

Yeah!! I'm glad everyone liked them. We are sure to be the talk of the future meets boards.

but I still have over 30 postcards to sign

I plan to cheat & put my info on a large label. I thought I'd add in a small pic of each of us for future reference too.

(ok - so I am not ready to leave yet....)

But you seem to be so much closer than we are. We still need to get tuxes for the guys & a nice dress for DD. Pirate costumes are still in the stores... Houseforsale is in charge of our door decorations. Probably ought to brainstorm with her to see what she has in mind. So much to do!!! Maybe I'll get a little closer this weekend when AWOLTODAY takes DD & DS to spend the weekend with houseforsale & plutotoo. I get the entire weekend to myself. I WON'T be spending it cleaning, but maybe a little cruise shopping!

I have begun writing 30 postcards to kids I do not know.....Being less than imaginative at times, I have 5 scenes and will adjust the message to the scene. I also have the Atlas, I promised DisNurse I would purchase many, many posts ago....It is an enlarged version, so some smaller towns will not be listed, but I thought it would be easier with the main roads for the youngsters.....

I have to admit my analness. This past weekend I bought two laminated USA map placemats & a package of various small stickers. The plan is to co-ordinate each postcard the kids receive with the location on the map. So each family will get 2 stickers. One will go on their postcard & the other will go on their spot on the map. I got enough different stickers so that each family's stickers will be unique and easy to spot when matching postcards to the map. Then my kids have a great show & tell project for when they get back. Of course I have an advantage over most of you since I have most of your mailing addresses. I can tell how well we are spread out over the country. It is pretty neat.

o.k.........before choc marg "narks me out"-i have a confession:

my name is barkley, i have been on 2 prior disney cruises and..............NEVER BEEN ON CASTAWAY CAY :scared1:

You never know where I might be lurking! The odds have to be in our favor on this one!

Looks to me like you have a few stories to tell. Nothing that a couple of rum punches on our mutiny can coax out!

Only a little more than 2 months to go!! I can hardly believe it!

Is that the REal Barkley or Barkley that has never set webbed foot onto Castaway Cay????

WOW - you guys were talkative last night - not so for me. I came home and my "altered" male cat was missing his collar....This is a sign there has been a fight - and sure enough deep scratches in both ears, still bloody, and missing a patch over his eye.....Luckily I have a great vet who is tired of being called in at all hours of the night, so antibiotics (tat bad) wee on hand. DH and I tended the wounds and all I need to do now is dip into the cruise fund to pay for the vet visit this weekend. Seriously, I would miss him terribly and the local news is broadcasting about all the missing pets from Katrina...so, when I take him to the vet, I will also make a pet donation for 4-legged victims of storms....

What a great idea....after coffee this morning - 5 more cards will be written.
I'll make copies of the main map in the atlas, if the other kids want to note where everyone is.....I have never seen laminated US map placemats????

While DH will not post on the boards like the rest of you, he is getting into the cruise. After walking around the fabric store for sash material - he went to (sssh) WalMart yesterday and bought baggy sweat pants for his britches....and a "skull cal" for a pirate bandana....if he comes home with an eye patch, I am leaving!!!!!

Door decorations are made but that was the first thing I did, now I want to maybe expand, but I need to complete the sewing projects first or dresses will look rather strange. Can't help with a place for a nice dress for DD - but if she is flower girl age, David's Bridal has great sales, if you are near one.....

OK, I am sure i missed it back on this thread somewhere....but I just can't take a few DAYS to go back and find it. What is the deal with the postcards? I want my DN (10 yr old) to participate. Do I buy 30 postcards for him to sign and pass out? What are they signing?

I got mine at a teacher's supply, but I have seen them in nicer toy stores too.

I got a great source from a thread on the main page. There is an EBay seller that has nice dresses at a really reasonable price. We'll go that direction, but I just need to get it done!

The plan is that each family get 30 postcards (that's enough to cover each of the kids). I think that we all have different ideas about what to put on them, but I was going to add a few facts about my state (state flower, bird, etc.) and a pic of teh 4 of us for future reference. I believe that we are signing them with our DIS names. It is really just a chance for the kids to have a short geography lesson while they are pulled out of school :)
