November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

sorry disnurse-hope the kiddies are fast asleep :) also sorry to let you know-according to a thread on the cruise board they are going to be doing the staggerd dining on the magic begining in late october (but it sez something about being able to request a time?).

so october 1st will be "d" day for you? i have been slacking off since the kids returned to school last week, but 9/1 will be my recommitment day. i gained so much weight when i got sick and stopped working :guilty: i know some of it is from the meds i take but a lot of it is from just being a couch potato hooked on tivo

stb has been on my mind as well-but considering the number of people without electricity and the short life of batteries...well i'm just thinking we will get some news once they "power up".

enjoy your days off-don't spend too much time on the boards ;)

isnt eating what cruising is all about???!!! i don't see people on the cruise boards bent out of shape over anything more than a missed opportunity to eat at palos :) we all watch what we eat so we can fit into those lovely dresses on board but between the food and alcohol calories it's a tight squeeze by the last night :rotfl2: i anticipate going from the post halloween chocolate fest to the wdw pre cruise munch-a-thon, sliding into the cruise grazing, returning home in time for the thanksgiving overload, and finishing it up with the holiday binge :teeth: maybe i should plan on losing about 10 extra pounds before departure so the kids don't mistake me for santa! we will def. get the holiday photo take before we leave

Um, yes...we could nt fit into our good clothes for our last night at Palo and it was only a 4 night cruise - no wonder formal night is on the second night.....Hint - get Chritmas photos taken early.

Trying to continue to be excited, but watching the news is heartbreaking....

just got off the phone with dcl. i had read all these posts on the cruise board about the rotational dining i thought i would check out the website and see if our dining reservation still looked the same...well it showed late dining but now sez "late dining 8:30". i do not want to be in the last late seating group so i called dcl and asked if there was anything i could do-so i am now told that they have put in a request for me to be assigned to "late dining 8 p.m.". i figure i will check the website over the next few days and see if anything has changed in our posting.

so if you want a particular time in your dining rotation-CALL NOW, DISNEY OPERATORS ARE STANDING (well i guess sitting) BY... :earsgirl:

when i called, the dcl rep. gave me the standard speech about all the dining alternatives, how not to worry if the kids got hungry before dinner...i told her the only thing i was worried about was the kids taking FULL advantage of the dining alternatives, filling up and not wanting to sit down to a meal :teeth: in the back of my mind i was thinking "yeah, tell my kids dinner is at 8:30 each night and they will have the perfect excuse to munch out early and then beg off to the kid's club"-i mean this is a "family vacation", i would like to spend some time with together in the evening pirate:

How is this staggered seating going to work? This is the first I have heard of it....

early is 6/6:15 and 6:30. late is 8/8:15 and 8:30. i've read that people in the 8:30 have had to cut meals short or miss out on a good portion of pirate night deck activities.

Boo hiss yuk !!!!!!!

I do not like any of these options.....It will also cut your time for photos????

I read the main thread on this....we still have till November, perhaps they will sort out the bugs by then....LEt us hope so.

Barkley - I'll check the posts again, but what are the dining rotations associated with the 8:30 dining time. We also have that time and I am weighing changing, vs a late dinner to relax more over wine and dessert - as we do not have children to work into the plans....

when i spoke with the cruiseline earlier today they said that late seating could get assigned 8:00, 8:15 or 8:30, early 6:00, 6:15 or 6:30. i would prefer the 8:00 so that it will be more liesurly, we won't have to rush to any of the evening events (and the early seating diners won't have to hold our seats in the bar as long :) ).

post me as : "late dining-8:30/ awaiting word on 8:00 request".

I checked our reservations on DCL and it said "second dinner seating-8:30" I am not sure what that means. I guess we will wait to see what we get.

I also hope that all is well with STB. It is so hard to believe that the hurricane could cause so much damage. I am sure that they have lots of work ahead of them. Let's hope that it is minimal and that they are all safe and can soon start looking forward to the upcoming trip.

Well, I just called and the agent said that late seating 8:30 - is the same as late seating. There is no linkage to a dining rotation and the times of the seating.

If you want a specific time you can call and request it. I have not yet requesting pending an overnight ponder on what time would be best.

When we cruised before we had 8:30 and it worked out well, so I think I may call back and ask that.

Also waiting to hear from STB on the beach.......

Hello,

Put us down for 8:30 with a request in for 8:00 please.

Our prayers are with those who are in the south. STB hope you are safe.

The reason DCL only shows one time for each seating is that they have not updated there system yet. You can call now and ask for a certain time and they will note it. Once they update there system you will be able to find out right away which time you have.

Hope this helps :) :)

just venting here-gas prices went up 15 cents per gallon between 9 this morning and 2:15 this afternoon at the local station around the corner :earseek: boy am i glad i bought my plane tickets already!!!

stb-you are in our thoughts and prayers :grouphug:

Hello Everyone.......

I sit here and write through a mist of tears in my eyes due to a few reasons. First off, and the most important fact, is we are all safe. I can’t even begin to complain about the state of affairs the area in which we live is in considering Biloxi and New Orleans and others. We had no idea we would be affected in the manner to which we are. Even though Ivan tore our town to shreds almost a year ago, we had grown complacent. We live on the tip of the island. When you walk onto our back balcony and look south, you see the Gulf of Mexico. If you look west you see the mouth of Mobile Bay. For those that know the area, we live in Ft. Morgan, which is next to Dauphin Island. We’re 25 miles west of Gulf Shores. Our area took a hard hit. It requires a 4-wheel drive vehicle to reach our home due to all of the sand that has covered the highway. Power lines are down all over the place. Sewer and water pipes are exposed. Our home is built on pilings with the front entrance approximately 6ft off the driveway. Once you enter our front door, you take another stair case to the living floors. Needless to say, water was over our front door entrance. It came up to our door handle. But the door was sealed so luckily we were able to starve off an enormous amount of water via that entrance. Although, water did seep in. Our back deck which takes you into our back entrance is approximately 12 feet off the ground. Water entered the back entrance too. The doors and windows were boarded, but we still took on some water. I have someone’s hot water heater in my front yard. We found our first floor (storage area) siding about 300 yards to the north east of our home. Someone’s refrigerator is lying on the beach in the back of our home. Someone’s underground pool was uprooted and is blocking the highway. It will be at least another week or so, before they have temporary utilities in place. We have returned to my parent’s home. They now have electricity. We will stay the nights here while working to clean up our area and the properties we manage during the day.

We don’t want our DS (3) to see our area. Since he is our first child, my DH & I are totally new to the whole parent gig. We were dumfounded by the affect Ivan had on him. And, he was 2 yrs. old at the time that monster hit. So, we are trying to shelter him from as much as possible. The National Guard has our road blocked and are only allowing residences past. But, we have neighbors who still want to stay with their homes and they are having to bath in one of the community pools. (The one that doesn’t have dead fish floating in it.)

I know this all sounds horrendous, but overall, we faired this storm better than we did Ivan so I’m trying to keep things in perspective. Furthermore, we are 100 times better off than our neighboring states. Again, I have absolutely no right to complain. My house is still standing, and we are safe. It's weird how calm the Gulf is and how peaceful the beach appears.

I can not begin to articulate how much your sentiments have meant to me and my family. This board has touched my heart in a way I can never express. And, that is the main reason I have tears in my eyes. I don’t even know who you are,,,, but, I love you........

Karen - John and Sterling - THANKS for posting....We are so glad you are safe. We know you through through these posts and have been so worried about you, so thank you again for posting. We went through the storms last year, and we cannot imagine what you are facing. We can take what we did and multiply it by ---- some number with lots of zeros, and still not know.

But, it seems, you are safe and most of your house is still standing...The rest will come.

Speaking of rest, please get some......

There is a great thread on the Disboards about contributions to hurricane relief and I hope your recognize some of the names....That said, we will endevor to "keep up your spirits". So, what do you want....a joke a day posted....gag!, Kareoke via the internet? (good thing you can't hear me sing real time) ... Really funny pet pictures....just name it and we will endevour to find the appropriate response on Google.....

So with that....

Welcome back,
Your dreams were your ticket out.

Welcome back,
To that same old place that you laughed about.

Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.

Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (Who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Here where we need ya (Here where we need ya)

Yeah we tease her a lot cause we've hot her on the spot, welcome back,
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Welcome Back --- Karen - John and Sterling...
