November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Thanks! I really love all of the input!
I just paid off our cruise in full today (so I am now officially broke! ) and I will be online at midnight this Saturday night making Palo ressies!
We didn't do ANY Palo last time and I am thinking on booking two nights. Will they let you do this?
How do we make sure our palo ressies and our friends' Palo ressies are linked (ie; same table?)

You are all such a wealth of info!

Hey, scary man.....did you guys already go online and book Palo and any excursions for your Oct cruise?

Comments on this - I do have cmments.

First - midnight for OUR cruise was 2:00 am in Florida. I think you are Washington so it is midnight for you - yes?

Palos - they will only let you book one Polao brunch and one Palo dinner....on line.....DO IT. It is so much fun. I heard on another thread that the cost has increased from $10. per person to $15 for brunch and $20 for dinner - per person....it all adds up, but it is worth it for those of us that enjoy dining out. You cannot link the ressies with a friend on line. You can only do that if you have linked the reservations and rooms on board, or as AOL said, you are "sniff sniff" concerirge..... So, make sure they go on line and book the same time and night - then when you get to the port - one member of each couple - go to the designated place for Palo and request the same table, should not be a problem at all.

On our cruise, I booked dinner at 2:00 am - then at 2:05 I went to make brunch - all gone already. Now we had over 1200 returning cruisers on our ship so I had to go to the desingated place at Port to sort it out. Not a problem. Disney tries to make sure everyone has at least one chance.
I have never heard that excursions fill up that fast....If there is limited space on one you will need to decide, Paolos vs excursions - which one first - For me, Palos....

You can request to be called if other spots open up. We have done that 2wice - never had a call back....but hey, it is worth a chance!

Note on excursions - they can be cancelled......We wanted Seahorse Snorkel - it was great - I would do it again. We had booked the first day and the second day for CC....Disney cancelled to first day....so, if you really want something, you may wish to book it twice. Check the cancellation olicy if you really don't want to do it twice....

Hope this helps...

Scary man? Me? I'm not scary! pirate: :rotfl2:

We recently paid our cruise off, too. Well, sort of thanks to 6 mo 0% on Disney Visa! Palo is booked. Exact same days & times as November - hey, it worked last time! Actually, we didn't even make those ressies. FairyDisMom (aka LeRue) & GDAC booked a table for the 4 of us at 105 days. No excursions booked or planned this trip! We'll probably hit a beach in St. Thomas and attempt to do Lord Sheffield's again in St. Martini.

I just recently found out there will be a full house in St. Thomas while we are there - 6 ships in port that day! It's going to be a little crowded with something on the order of 14,000 cruisers on that island! Maybe we'll just stay on the ship and enjoy the drink of the day, topsiders, and the pools ;) That doesn't sound too bad on any day! Maybe you should consider that in Coz?

Past my bedtime! TTFN!

Do you want to dive in St. Thomas??? I know you are with your family but I know a great dive boat - small, pick ou up at the dock....

just want to say it's nice to see people going on a cruise talking about normal things like excursions and relaxing and restaurants-since i'm doing the short celebrity cruise in september i ventured onto (gasp) another cruise board and while not on the teeny tiny 'roll call' thread i found for mine-the main celeb. board for the site has been nothing of late but people venting about the line's recent public announcement that they will actualy be activly enforcing their existing alcohol policies. you would'nt beleive the rantings from people saying 'we've always smuggled booze on-how dare the cruiseline actualy hold us accountable to follow their rules'. boggles the mind how someone who can afford to take a 22 day cruise can get so bent out of shape because they've figured out to the penny that in not smuggling their own bottle on board they're going to be out a whole $50 more in bar charges

i'll be interested to hear your comments on your cruises when you get back and if they added any more goodies on for returning cruisers-that was the whole deal with that focus group i got tapped to sit in on. they told us last november that the mediterrian as well as alaska were in the final stages of negotiation for itineraries, and since the med has come to be i'm hoping alaska won't be far behind (that is one i'de actualy pay out of pocket vs. raiding 2 years of dvc points to go on).

hope everyone is well and ready for the kids to return to school (mine go back in 2 weeks-and i'm counting the minutes!).

The Palo price changes, along with the other changes, go into effect on the Med sailing, right? I thought that was what I read, but I really wasn't too worried about the price change as I thought it sounded fair enough. It's still listed as $10 on the DCL web site.

Or the romance package... which is how FairyDisMom got in. BTW, I really like saying FairyDisMom, 'cause I can see Katie cringing as she reads it.

You bet it does!

Well, I WANT to dive. But, I think I have resigned myself to not diving until my DD can join me. It's just not fair to the family for me to run off by myself. So, I'm going to stick with the family this time around too. But, DD is getting close to being old enough! Next year, she'll be able to partake in a Bubblemaker dive (shallow water only). If we end up near a warm body of water next year, I'll try to sign her up for one.

That's interesting. Do you think the alcohol policy enforcement will extend industry wide? I guess I wouldn't be surprised if it did. A little dissappointed, too. But, also a little relieved to lighten the load a bit ;)

I really hope lbgraves intel is good on the return cruisers gifts. You saw that, right? I sure hope that they have Alaska lined up. I think that DCL in Alaska would trump NCL in Hawaii for me.

Teena is with you in counting the minutes until school starts! They are really pushing her buttons! But, we only have a few days left until Monday!

Barkely, Interesting note - about wine as we had "Cruise Wine" for our group, not to beat the $$$ but for fun....anyway, not more flying with wine in carry-ons....so these cruisers will need to be aware of that also.

True confessions, we would save $$$$ if we did not have a bar tab.....but we did bring Port to share with our group....we would do it again. If a no booze policy is enforced, oh well, not a problem.

The gift for returning cruisers on the May was the same gift we had on the November cruise, I won't spoil the surprise.

Also here is a hint - make sure your castaway key number is valid and it has all the information included or you may not be able to make reservations as a returning cruiser.......this happened to one of our folks in May.....she knew she was a returning cruiser, but the system did not. We had added DVC since we cruised and I thought Mickey knew everything, but apparently someone forgot to tell the mouse and I missed a free gift there.....A friend helped me wiggle one out of staff....but still, it is a nice surprise to see...

Later.....

Hey, chatty Kathies!

Thanks, I have learned a lot more now thanks to you about the Palo ressie thing. Is it true that the computer will know Sat noc (yes, it will be Midnight for us here in Oregon) to only book two adults (us) for our specified ressie? No chance you can make a few more for the same date/time, right?

We will go to where they tell us to link the Palo ressies, thanks.

Only one dinner ressie? Really? How can I get one more additional night when we board? That will be my first mission, for sure!

I don't care too much about brunch so I won't be trying for that one.
Am trying to do a non-Disney Cozumel (speed Boat) excursion and Costa Maya sounds like a self induced beach day to Majhaul (sp?)

Thanks again, for all of you input!

Scary man......we went to Megan's Bay on St. Thomas (took an open air tazi up and over the island) and thought that place was grand!

Okay, what have i missed about the "no alcohol" being brought onto cruise ships?
Please tell! You are worrying me! :confused3

See ya........ :goodvibes

There is a sign when you board the Disney ship - It says no alchol, not firearms. Disney did not enforce that when we boarded. Barkely says some of the other cruise ships are.

A thought - will cruise ships change their policies so that all liquids and gels must be in packed luggage...???? You will know before November!!!!

I am willing to bet the farm that the cruise lines will follow the airlines and not allow liquids to be carried on........ why a bunch of freaks have to ruin the fun for the rest of us makes me so mad. What the heck is wrong with this world????? :confused3 Clients yesterday morning (most likely hadn't turned on the tv to hear what happened over night) missed their flight - they were there 2 hours early. I don't think I care to fly anywhere for a while - I can't have my Purell!
I have been on cruises where they take your liquor when you purchase on shore and others where we walked right in like it was no big deal.... so I think it just depends on who is in charge that day. How's that for consistency?

Guess I am back to packing my alcohol in my checked luggage! Sorry! I know that I need to be very careful how I package it.....but DIS NURSE will be on the loose/vacation.....SO WATCH OUT! :teeth:

No one's stoppin' me!

the best packing is done with bubble wrap and then put the stuff into a ziplock (in case it breaks) and wrap t-shirts around it and cushion it with socks (on our first 7 day disney i brought back 2 dozen bottles to stock the house bar-not one broke).

Suggsetion was to double zip loc back - one zip loc one way, the other - turned the other way - in case of leakage...

We will get through -- here is to British secutiry....

Apparently someone is being stalked........... I mean really, who has time to hunt people down that don't post on specific boards anymore and find them on an old thread and contact them? I find it creepy myself.

I hope you guys aren't talking about me. No stalking going on here...no hunting down. I suppose I should have just PM'd DIS Nurse instead of posting to her on a thread I saw her on. Sorry if I freaked anybody out (and I will PM an apology too)!

BTW, I opened the thread BECAUSE it was old and still active and thought this must have been a fun bunch of folks and was delighted to see someone from my cruise here.
