Jackie...I checked again today and SW still has not gotten past 10/27. They are about to drive me over the edge. :rotfl:

Well, hopefully we only have a few more days....though I find myself checking about three times a day now!

OK.....I'm hungry....shouldn't have though about or mentioned ribs....nothing else is going to be good enough.....I could be in trouble here. Maybe I can distract myself by cleaning off my craft table.....pray for me.

Squaw Peak is great...may actually be better for the water activity stuff. It's a little more 'inside' Poenix (though not downtown, which is GOOD), and has pretty easy access to the highways (though not quite as good access as Tapatio). You could still get to Desert Ridge for Jillian's and food options. Hmmmmm, maybe I'd just better go take a look at them. I haven't been to Squaw Peak in some time. We have had many company functions over the years at both places and I've consumed a few cocktails and chowed down on ribs or enchiladas at both resorts. Hmmmmm, maybe I should hit The Hole in The Wall at Sqaw Peak for dinner tonight????? Purely as a fact finding mission for a fellow DISer.....has nothing to do with the ribs.....

I do believe I absolutely need a full report on the ribs AND the cocktails at Squaw Peak!!!!! It is so kind of you to make that kind of sacrifice for a DIS buddy!!! ;)

I do think we've found a gem in Jackie . . . well, we knew that even before the RIBS came into play!!!!

Yes, Poway, that's it! It is wonderful that they live in San Diego, although we'd go visit them in . . . well, I don't want to say anyplace, since it could be someone's hometown, but you get the idea. I think we have our time there totally booked because each of the kids has a favorite San Diego thing to do: Legoland, Sea World, Del Mar beach (My kids declare that it has the best sand this side of Castaway Cay. I'm not sure why it's better than, say, La Jolla, but they are convinced that it is.)

Yes, we are going to visit the Hoover Dam -- it is one of my husband's favorite places, believe it or not. (He is an engineer, and that's not just his job, it's his essence!) We are also going boating at Bear Lake for a day with our friends, who like to go snowboarding there, but haven't been in the summer yet.

You're going to have a busy week, aidanht! Legoland has a new pirate/water area...haven't checked it out, but it sounds great. Have no idea about beach sand in Del Mar. If we go, we go to Oceanside (not the nicest beach or atmosphere, but it's closest).

I really like Hoover Dam, too, and I'm not an engineer. I just think the magnitude of the construction is amazing. They used to let you take an elevator down, down, down, so you could walk on the platform at the bottom of the dry side of the dam (obviously the DRY side..). That was cool! Ok, a little freaky for me, imagining all the water on the other side, but still cool.

Have fun!

Carolyn

:rotfl2: So... you married one of those too! Last night we were at fellow DISer and cruising buddy's house (Needalatte). Both of our DHs are engineers and these loving husbands were totally hooked on watching some show on the science channel about building rockets and some sort of rocket competition. This is DH :happytv: and this is me :confused3

Hoover Dam sounds like a spot my DH would love to visit on vacation! Meanwhile, he leaves tomorrow before fireworks to go back to China for 2 weeks.

For those of us who will be joining in on DIS activities or just want to be able to make contact with specific DISers, what do you think about a DIS-Navigator? The first DoubleDip did this and it looked like a good idea.

I was wondering myself how we were going to keep track of the DIS activities. GREAT IDEA! :thumbsup2

Yes, and Spotdude has offered his assistance....but we're still looking for an EDITOR & CHIEF on this project. I figure we can include the DISERS GUIDE TO MAGICAL DRINKS in this DIS-navigator too. Peg and I can get that finished up and ready for submission.

Boy can I relate - mine is not only an engineer but a physicist! Thank God we have two tv's sometimes, although it's amazing how much I love watching NOVA and Discovery now... I think they must be like the BORG - "We will assimilate you resistance is futile."

I would be happy to do it if you want. Now that I am homeless I have a lot less responsibility. :rotfl2:

That's what I say to my DH when he puts his blue tooth cell phone headset in his ear! :rotfl: Guess his baldness adds to the image as well :goodvibes Guess I just need to roll with the flow. Out of 3 sons, it is likely at least one will follow dad's gene pattern and become an engineer as well. Middle DS often says he wants to be come an Imagineer and design roller coasters - of course he also wants to be an olympic runner!

*DING DING DING* we have a winner here!

OK, faireygod mother and spotdude will build us a DIS-navigator. :cool1:

Now...I'm REALLY going to go clean off my craft table (hear that Woody?)

I am trying toget my PDA calender posted to MSN calender. I did it on our last vacation I set up a whole screen name for it I don't know why it wont let me do it if I get it up I'll put the site up here it has the dirnk of the day on each day time to get off and on the ship and the dress of the day. It can not be accessed by anyone who dosen't have the exact address so I am not to worried about it, and there wont be anypersonal info so never fear. I can show you what I have already. :surfweb:

I am going to shut it down after the cruise as I did on our last vacation. :thumbsup2

My youngest wants to be a mad scientist. He is completely serious about it and we tried to explain to him that mad scientist is not an actual job title, but he thought we were joking. Now not even his older siblings have the heart to break it to him that he needs to come up with another career choice!!

Too funny! I have this picture in my head of him going around the house practicing his mad scientist evil laugh. :scared1:

;) :)

Welcome Angel. We look forward to getting to kno you also.

:tinker:

:welcome: angel, you'll find you've joined a fun bunch of double-dippers here!

So, missed chat last night due to NO INTERNET CONNECTION! Got home from TiggersPal's house about 6:30 to discover that. I did experience a moment of withdrawal, but put the time to good use updating my DD master list (note to self: add xoxoagnel), the DOUBLE DIPPERS GUIDE TO MAGICAL DRINKS list, my AIM user name list, my 'who's on the David & Ivan tour' list, and my to-do-list. Whew!

Speaking of the drinks list, still need to find out what's in a:
Mango Cooler
Tropical Depression
Caribberan Dream
Panama Hat
Chocotini
Razatini
Lemoncito
Anybody know? :confused3 Kris....are these in your bartender guide?
and the shot called "Bubblegum"

I also, FINALLY, got out my new digital camera and played with it a bit. Acoma kitten got a little tired of me taking pictures of her :cat: I LOVE THE ZOOM feature ::yes:: Now I need to spend some time with the manual learning all the fine points (like downloading and printing the pictures!).

Have a good day everyone and remember:

TWO DAYS TILL PIRATES OF THE CARIBBIAN II OPENS!

Savvy? pirate:
