November 11, 2006 - MAGIC - Special Western "Double Dip" Cruise 11/11/06

. . . Does anyone know how the fish clips by the door work? Is there just a slotted area where you can leave a note or does it actually 'clip'? Could you, for example, clip a small gift bag to it? . . .

The fish is made of metal and has a flat slot behind it where you can leave things -- a note, envelope, etc. It does not actually "clip" (no "tension" like a clothes pin or binder clip).

When we wanted to leave things for our friends' kids (such as box of candy on movie night, or pirate party favors on Pirate Night), we used small plastic bags (approx 8" x 11") with an oval opening for a handle, like the ones you get when you buy a small item at the Disney Store. We also used smaller "party favor bags" (skull and crossbones from Party City, and Little Mermaid, Disney Princesses, and Winnie the Pooh). You can hang the bag on the fish (the fish will just barely fit through the handle). The kids were so excited when they returned to their stateroom.

I booked our family for the Residence Inn for the night before the cruise, and we've reserved the SUV from Budget to get us from MCO to Port Canaveral. Now I am anxiously awaiting my new Passporter (should arrive today), and trying to plan the WDW portion of our vacation for the 3 days post-cruise. We can only do 3 parks (haven't decided which ones), haven't decided if Park Hopper is worth the extra money for a 3 day stay, and are looking into locating which Resort Hotels allow 5 guests per room (POR does, but want to see what else is available/affordable in our time frame).

Jackie, we may end up at DL for a day about the time you are there. If it is the same time, maybe we can meet up at some point. We're not sure yet which weekend in May we will be in that area. We know for sure NOT May 20/21st as the whole family is doing Relay for Life (American Cancer Society fundraising event). We're commited to raise $500 as a family, and are just starting out on our fundraising - $20 down, $480 to go). Cancer has taken a tole on our extended family over the years, so this is a cause we are passionate about.

YES, would definately try to do a meet-up if it's the same weekend. We should know very soon (waiting on our young friend's schedule). If she can't join us, we will be choosing the weekend of the 12-14. We'll do DL on the Saturday and do a WONDERFUL Storytellers breakfast on Sunday before driving back Sunday afternoon. Let's keep each other posted on this.

Well my PassPorter FINALLY showed up at the office this morning....and guess what? It was the WRONG book! It was the WDW one....don't know if I clicked the wrong thing on the web-site of not but I have to send it back and WAIT SOME MORE. ARGGGGGG!

i ordered my passporter late - but got it in no time flat!! then this morning i had an email from jennifer marx saying that "one or more of my tips had been chosen to be in their new book" so i got a free download of "passporters disney cruise clues" - considering i didnt even remember sending them a tip this was a very nice surprise!!

I ordered mine on friday it was shipped on the same day and it took two weeks to get here. The post office took for ever to get it here.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHGGGGG I am so aggravated at my en laws. My sister en law has said from the start of this whole adventure that if she couldn't get a cat 12 room she wouldn't go. Well I check three places and not only are there no cat 12 rooms left there are no cat 11 left ether. We had planned to go on the 7 day cruise over Halloween. And she told me she only was going to do this cruise. (the one in May) So I comprised and we decided to do this cruise. I told her when I book my mother in-law that I had a hard time finding a cat 12 room, and that was 4 months ago. My mother said a year ago that she wouldn’t be able to get the time off at the end of Oct so I thought this would work out great. Than AFTER we booked my mother said that she couldn’t take the time off in Nov ether. I was so aggravated by this I decided not to change it again. There were several other changes that I have made leading up to this. That I am not going to go in to. As to why we are doing it on DCL and not Disney World. Most to do with my sister in-law, and my mother in-law. I just got a quote back from a travel agency and of cource there are no cat 11 or 12 rooms. Now she has invited friends of hers that have already booked and paid off there cruise. What am I going to do with these people? I know them and have spent time with them but I really don’t have anything in common with them. I don’t sit in a bar and drink all day (I know that is not nice but I am venting) the only bright spot to this whole thing is I wanted to only have my DDs up front with us, and I stood ferm on this and now look they are the only ones that are going to be there!!!!!

Vent away, Devin. You should get together in the venting thing with Jeanna, she knows all about planning big trips with friends and family. As far as traveling with people you hardly know, you can always "lose' them, LOL. I'm pretty sure Patti and Chichihoney "lost" me a few times on our last cruise.

Spotdude, your outlaws (I mean inlaws) sound like my family... I was raised hanging out for hours at a time in the manager's offices of various bars while my parents and their pals sat on barstools for hours "talking." I got really good at playing solitare. People have told me for years that there's someone in every family that drives you batty, and if you can't recognize who that person is in your family... it may be you. Lucky for me... I can easily identify those people in my family! Sorry your extended family is causing you all of this is stress.

As for the chat tonight, I plan to be there.

Geez, Devin, what are you going to do with those people? I'll tell you, we VERY briefly considered inviting family to go on this, our first cruise. DH basically humored me for a couple weeks and, then, said, NO. And, really, he's right and it's best....for us! I hope everyone behaves for you and your family. Vent away.....

Hello, I was hoping that I could join your group- I am planning to take this cruise with DH, DS (9),DS (4), my parents, my sister and brother in law, my brother, wife and his two sons. I have been on a 4 day but not on the 7 day so I think I have alot to learn! I would love to chat with you all- can you tell me more about that.
