i ordered my passporter late - but got it in no time flat!! then this morning i had an email from jennifer marx saying that "one or more of my tips had been chosen to be in their new book" so i got a free download of "passporters disney cruise clues" - considering i didnt even remember sending them a tip this was a very nice surprise!! :cool1:

Senior moment, my 'junior' friend?????

Sorry about that I uasully don't let things like that get to me but I have some really crazy in laws. Yesterday was the topper my farther in law got a ticket to go golfing in Fl for christmas and yesterday he decited he couldn't go. THe ticket was bought and seats were reservered. I think I just had had enough of all this crazyness. :furious:
One of these tusdays I need to take my laptop to work and try it out in the network at work to see if I can log in there with this one. I CAN NOT download anything. I have sirius radio and I downloaded the old player and I got yelled at for a week. By my buddy Mr Brown.
I don't know if we are driving this year or what there is a new airline flying out of Worcester and they have some pretty unbeleavable fares, but it as become a little family fun day driving to Fl every year. But gas here is 2.91 /Gal. WHich will make it al most as expencive to drive down. Anyway if we fly I would love to do a precruise meet that would be great. In the next couple weeks we are going to figure all of that out. If we drive I have no I dea when we will be leaving so it is tough to say if we will be there to do that.

No chat for us...as usual, baton and wrestling on Tuesdays...could anyone post a 'highlights re-cap' for those missing out???

We've decided to create a "Double-Dippers Guide to Magical Drinks". A little review of the exotic beverage choices available on board. It would be especially useful to those of us who don't have the constitution or inclination to try EVERY Adult Beverage, but don't want to miss a taste treat opportunity. ;) Anyone care to share their favorite "I'm on vacation, I'll try a Mojito" type beverage?

I am gonna try that konk Kooler that Hannos Mom talked about last night is on my list.

BBC is the drink to try....i think it stands for Banana Baileys Colada....very very good!!!

also, the Bon Voyage drinks are to die for...basically 1/2 pina colada and 1/2 strawberry daquari....

a list would be great...i always hear of people raving about their favorite drinks but i forget all of them when i am onboard.... :rotfl2:

Jackie, I knew I could count on you!! A list is a great idea...I'll be the dweeb with the laminated card, pointing to what I'd like to try!:)

Thank you!!

Carolyn

That sound really good to me. I could go for a Konk Kooler this weekend. I have to go setup the camper this weekend. I am not looking forward to it it is messy and I hate doing it every year. And I have to do it with my In laws.

Hello all
I sorry I have been MIA lately. Anglina has been really sick and I have been going thru a living H---. make a really long story short its been 3 week of vomiting or you know what. Spent last Friday at the Er and still have no answers. She is really having a tuff go. I keep getting told virus , but know one else is sick. It has me REALLY worried. I have taken her to many Drs but know one can tell me a thing.
Sorry I have missed a lot. Welcome to all who have joined. This is a wonderful group of people filled with tons of info.
I made Konk Koolers for my freinds on Easter( the ones who will be cruising with us) I wanted to get us all in the "cruise" mode. They were a big hit. I love the welcome aboard drink and on another thread I read about a salty dog. Which I have also made at home. It sounds really weird but it is really good.
Salt the rim of a glass
grapefruit juice
vodka
ice
enjoy!!
We have a grapefruit tree so I made them with fresh juice.
Cant wait to be cruising with you all :goodvibes

So, Carolyn are you volunteering to make the laminated cards??? :teeth:

I'm normally up for trying any Tequila drink (but prefer gold/top shelf/etc., not the cheap stuff). I can say that the margarita 2 for 1 drink special (it was night 6 on our past cruise) does not taste that good.

As Jackie heard at chat, I call Mojitos "salad drinks" because of all that floating mint. :goodvibes

Hard to believe anyone else out there would carry a laminated Double Dippers Guide to Magical Drinks, but, hey, if y'all want 'em....:) I'm on a quest to try at least one new drink each day (on the cruise!). Wouldn't want to waste my try on something bad...thanks for the heads up on the 2 for 1 Margaritas! Maybe, we need a Don't Go Anywhere Near This Drink list:)....

Carolyn

Hey my memory goes out the window on vacation unless I have something written down to remind me :teeth: So, maybe a laminated card would be a bit much :goodvibes but I will likely copy the compiled list into may passporter for reference. Lame, I know! There really is a reason I have Dory as my avtar. I can forget where I was headed mid-trip, or should I say mid-ship. I can walk all the way down into the bowels of the ship to my cabin only to forget the reason why once I get into my cabin. Having 3 children really does destroy your braincells. :rotfl: My brain is an etch-a-sketch!

Aint that the truth!! I'm usually ok, until one of the kids speaks (how dare they?) and kills my train of thought. Driving around our little town is an adventure sometimes, too, as we travel the same main roads to get to different places. I've turned right to go to the high school to drop a teenager off, when I was SUPPOSED to be turning left to head to the preschool. That particular move I've accomplished more times than I will even try to remember. Luckily, the kids are on top of me, "Um...Mom, where ARE we going?"

Etch-a-sketch brain indeed!:)

Before I post something on the WDW thread, I thought I'd ask all of you (since at least I've conversed with some of you before). What's your opinion for post cruise stay: Port Orleans Riverside or Swan/Dolphin? Pros/Cons? Anyone stayed at either?

Most of the places we originally considered limit the occupancy of the room to 4 people (and of course we have 5). We'd like to stay as close to $200/night or less so that limits us. I don't want our 2.5 day WDW trip to cost us more than 5 days at DL. :confused3

Oh, this is a hard one! I've never stayed at Riverside, but have at French Quarter and I've stayed at both the Swan and the Dolphin.

Port Orleans has beautiful grounds and is a nice getaway from the parks. Swan/Dolphin's location makes you feel you are right in the heart of things.

S/D does have that 'big hotel in any city' kind of ambiance...but the minute you step outside...you're in Disney. The rooms are larger (though I couldn't tell you how much...it's been a while). You can WALK to Beaches & Cream ::yes:: If you have park hoppers...you can use Epcot as a 'cut through' when traveling by monorail to MK. Actually MK/Epcot/MGM are very convenient from that area.

I just read a couple of trip reports by people who stayed at Riverside and they loved it and, personally, French Quarter is my favorite moderate.

I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help, as these are my two favorite areas. I'll be interested to see what everyone else suggests.

We stayed at Pop Century and had connecting rooms for a little over 100 a day for both rooms. The benefit was having 2 bathrooms. It was a very nice "value" selection. We had friends stay at All Star, but that is not any place I would stay. I thought the rooms in Pop Century were big. Just food for thought.

I've been quiet but I have been reading and learning a lot from all of you. We found out that friends of ours will be joining us on the cruise. :woohoo: I don't know if she will start posting here or not. Their names are Bob, Melanie and DD Katie (15). They are a little crazy like us but are very kind hearted too. They should fit in quite nicely. :grouphug:

Welcome Shelmoj and your friends. Please join in because we are all a little crazy and fun. Truth be told, I think some are a lttle more crazy than others. :rotfl2:

Well guys it looks as though only a few of us are going to partake in the spirits. I have another one to add...pinapple upside downcake martini...oh yummy.

Yep, our friends are going to join us! We're calling it "Operation Pollocks in Paradise". :cool1:

Signed,
Dave...aka The Polish Pirate pirate: aaarrrrrgghhhh!

...and Shelwoj's lesser half. :bounce:
