I think....and then rethink...and then, think again about our upcoming transportation and accomodations plans for this cruise...... :confused3

It would be so simple if someone could take the reins and organize either a group rate and plan for the Radisson at the Port or the same set up at the Hyatt at MCO. :confused3

......Any takers?
I am just not great at organizing.
But we are game if there are others! :goodvibes

We are getting so excited now that the kids know and "unwrapped" their Christmas present! :wizard:

BTW, my DD (8 1/2) is interested in "pen pals" and/or writing to upcoming "friends" of this cruise. Our last DCL cruise was a complete surprise....up to the last day before....so she missed out on "getting to know" other potential cruise mates.

Any ideas? Any thoughts?
2006 is right around the corner!!!!! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

......any one else excited? :goodvibes
Vacation time is coming again!!!!! :cool1:

who all will be flying out of philly on 11/10? those prices have got to come down!!!

This is the first I've logged onto the DIS in almost 3 months, and the first thing I see is I've missed Lovely Sarah's Birthday. :bitelip:

Sarah, I should have remembered yours was the day before Jessica's. I'm sorry. I hope you know all the princesses and I wish nothing but the best for you! We love and miss you!!! :grouphug:

I sure hope your birthday was a happy one.

:jumping1: :rockband: :bday: :bday:

There's no way I'm reading all I've missed. Do we have a chat night going? I'd like to try and get back into life as I knew it and a good chat will help! :flower:

Happy New Year Everyone!!

My oldest DD is 10 (will be 11 at time of cruise) and is also anxious to have some pen pals. Would love to hook them up. She's gone right now at her dad's for this week but will be back sometime this upcoming weekend.

My youngest DD is 6 (turning 7 in April) and hasn't really said much about pen pals. She's just excited about Mickey Mouse right now! :rotfl:

I'm unsure of our pre-cruise plans right now. I know I should fly in the day before, but being on my own with three kids...well, I don't know. It seems it would be so much simpler to fly in the morning of, let Disney pick up my luggage, and just take their bus to port. Of course the thought of delays and missing the ship would likely drive me insane. IF we fly in the day before we'd be game for staying at the Hyatt (again, seems to be the simplest way to go) if we could get a good rate. With no good rates we'd probably opt to take DME and spend a night at the All Stars, though that makes for a long haul to port the next morning. I just don't know yet.

I mentioned it before, but my DS (will be 12 in February) is also interested in a penpal, emailpal, whatever. :teeth: He'd probably prefer to correspond with other boys his age if possible. He'll be going to the Lab and is a little worried about having to hang out with 'little kids' the entire time, so if there are any will-be 11 or 12 year old boys who will be in Lab that would be perfect. There is the new area now though, where the different ages can hang together, right? Is it 10-14 or something? I haven't had time to do much research yet, so I don't know anything about it really.

My granddaughter is 9 (will be 10 on the cruise) she has email and would probably like to do the penpal thing as well. Lets see if we can get that set up. PM me with email addresses so we can add them to her account and I will do the same. She is in Oklahoma right now and will be returning on 1/5/06.

As for the hotel and transportation. I have been working on it and would not mind continuing to do so. Pat is also trying to see about good rates at the Hyatt. Right now we have a group rate for the Hyatt of 169.00 and the transportation is 700.00 for 50 people. I can keep everyone advised by posting here.

I too am ready for chat night. Please :worship: do not make it on Tuesdays from 9-10 as the amazing race is on then and yes I am addictied to it.

Houseofprincesses Welcome back. Hope all is well in your castle.

Have a great day

Hello, just wanted to let you know we will also be traveling on the 11/11/2006 cruise. Hope to see you there! :cool1:

Raeryan

Sorry did not give enough info. I will be in a party of 9. Myself, DH, DD9, DD7. My friend, her husband and their DD9, DS7 and DD4. We will be flying in from California, so we have no choice but flying in the night before.

Welcome Raeryan. This is a great group! My DDs will be 11 and 7 on the trip. The oldest is trying to hook up with new friends.

jcemom, the new club is down on Deck 2. We toured it when we were there earlier this month. It's really cool. Has some simulators, video games, big screen TV for the Disney Channel and various activities. They do have some Open House times when the whole family can come join in too.

We will be flying down on the 10th from Philly! I have not even looked at air yet, but I just got $203 on USair for April 29 thru May 6th. Great flights too, early for arrival day and late for departure day!! :cool1: I got that great price very close to the same time that Southwest released the list for April-June.

I am also interested in a group rate, I will watch for any news about that. Was hoping to spend a little less than the group rate I saw by faireygod mother though. I mentioned that and the bus to my DH last night and he said it is still too far away to think about :confused3
He just does not understand my compulsive need to plan!

Are there any other DVC members going? This will be our third cruise on points.

Thank you! I'm sure DS will be happy to hear it's on Deck 2...since that's where we'll be, LOL. As it is I'm stretching the budget a bit to get the porthole, I just couldn't stretch it any further to swing a Category 8 and a higher deck. It's nice to know that there's something 'down there' for us. :teeth:

Welcome Raeryan!! We'll be flying in from California, too, but are considering coming a few days earlier to check out WDW. Been to Disneyland too many times to count, but have never been to Florida. Guessing DS8 and DD4 would vote for more DisneyDays! Happy planning!!

Welcome Raeryan. Glad you will be joining us. Is this your first cruise with DCL?
This is our second cruise, went on a four day cruise in Nov. 2003. Glad to see there are people who are excited (this early) as we are. :earsboy: Can hardly wait!!

!
Which airport will you be flyiing out of. Our local airport is Fresno but flights are always way too expensive from there. We are always willing to drive a few hours to save tons of money.

This is our 2nd cruise. I know your family will love it :earsgirl:

We just came back from a & night Magic Eastern and spent lots of time in the new Ocean Quest on Deck 2! We, too, had a room on deck 2.....and will again for this cruise. There are only select times to visit during "open hours" when there is not a scheduyled bunch of 10-14 yo's in there.

It was a great place to go and hang out with the kids!

My DD (who will be 9 1/4 at the time of cruising) does not have her own email (yet). I am sure my DH could rig something up at home. When that happens, I will let you know! She would love to correspond! :goodvibes

Let me get this straight......if 50 of us stay at the Hyatt and we all go for the "shuttle"....$700 divided by 50 is only $14! What a deal!

What do we get transported in? By whom?

Thanks. :goodvibes

We get transported by a bus. The company is call around the clock usa (they have a web site)

here is the quote they sent.
1. 24 people 11/11/06 to port canaveral, return 11/18/06 = $450.00

2. 50 people 11/11/06 to port canaveral and return 11/18/06 = $700.00

There is 24 in my group alone. It gets cheaper the higher the number.

As for the hotel, I agree we would like a better deal. Am still working on that as is Pat. Wish us luck.

Gosh... we have not even thought about where to stay, transportation to the port, etc yet (and I thought I was a big time planner). :goodvibes

Happy to meet others flying in from CA. We're only about 7 miles south of Sacramento, so we'll likely fly from there. Our family has flight miles on United, but the other 2 or 3 families traveling with us will likely fly Southwest.

Some of us are planning on late Thursday night travel to Florida, spending Friday checking out any NASA sights (not sure what it is called, but we were told there's stuff our kids would like to see).

Any suggestions/recommendations on where to stay (prices, etc)? There are 5 in our family, but the other families traveling with us have 3 or 4 in their familes. With the NASA trip on Friday, we'll likely have to rent a car (easier than having to rely on Taxi transportation). Not sure of the best transportation to look for.

Any idea what time you'll be leaving MCO yet? I think we would be interested in travelling with you. There are 4 of us. While using WDW buses might be easier because of the luggage transfers, carting our own luggage to save so much money looks like a mighty attractive option. ;)

I thought I remember reading somewhere (here on the DIS I think) that you could purchase the WDW luggage transfers when staying at the Hyatt even if you weren't using the bus. Anyone ever heard of that? Or is my memory playing tricks on me? I'll have to do a search on that.
