November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

So where are we on setting up the meet?
Any time set yet? Are we doing it day 2 - the first day at sea? or trying to get it in the first night?

Anyone? :)

We're thinking the room tour on the second day, ending up in our room for a touch of the bubbly....

Or does day 3 ( second sea day ) sound better???

Anyone?

On the cruises I've been on in the past, we usually had an initial DIS board meet on the first day. They have been in the Promenade lounge at 3 PM, which gave us almost an hour to meet and mingle and still make it to the the safety drill at 4 PM.

I think that we should plan a meet for the 2nd or 3rd day also. Sometimes it is hard to get the kids away from the pools and all of the excitement. We should probably figure out a place to meet at the terminal too for all of us that are there early waiting to get on the boat.

Welcome to all that have joined our group recently!

When I was on my cruise last year we all met at 3:00 by the drink station at the Mickey pool. This was great because the kids who had been emailing each other got to meet and swim while the parents chatted.

Even if we decided not to all meet the first day I know my daughter would like to have a chance to meet the children she had been emailing. So maybe we could have a kids meet by the pool.:goodvibes

I believe day 3 (the second sea day) would be better for the room tour and wine party. That way first time cruisers can experience a day at sea (and get used to the pools and kids clubs).

:goodvibes Seconded...
I know that the first day at sea, we're going to be busy adjusting to a wired 4 1/2 year old... By day 3, she'll have abandoned us firmly for the kid's club :)
So that will make touring and wine much easier on the adults in our party!

I would also agree on day 3. We will be wiped out from a 6:30 AM flight. Kids will be too interested in seeing everything and we will still be getting used to the magic and routines.

We have a 4.5 yo DD ourselves! She will also have her 4 yo cousin Ella along...We too are in a Cat 7, but it is a Secret Nav Ver...6634, maybe we are neighbors!

OOoh great!!!
Is her cousin staying with you? or are you lucky enough to have talked family into going?
We tried (believe me! we tried!) but one side has the inability to miss school that week, and the other has my husband's sister who is terrified of water and won't believe me that being on a ship that size is nothing like being on a little tiny boat... lol

We're in 5640... 1 down and a few over from you! :)
I'd love to see what the sloping verandah looks like - we turned that down once, but it sounds neat! :)

HI All,

We are getting very excited about the cruise. I was wondering if anyone knew where to find out the costs and times of the tours in each of the ports. We paid for our cruise in full back in June when we booked through Sam's Club travel and we have not received anything in the mail from Disney, is this normal? I can reveiw our reservations online, so I know they are there.

Lastly, we are in a gauranteed category 12 and I pretty sure since we have been paid in full for quite sometime we will be upgraded. When do they start releasing room numbers and upgrades? Should I be bugging my travel agent about this?

Thanks for your help!!!:cool1:

OK, the site has details under ports of call, shore excursions, "learn more". It also gives the length of the excusion but not the time. I think the passporter gives the aproximate time.

I don't remember if I've asked this before, but do you think we will have the X-Mas decorations sometime in our cruise????:santa:

I'm fairly sure that when I booked the excursions through the DCL site it told me times.

You could always pull up your res on DCL's site, and book different excursions to see, and if you don't like it? cancel it... it's not like it's written in stone! :)

We went the same week last year, and each night, new decorations "magically" appeared. There were some decorations in the terminal when we arrived. By the end of the week, everything was up. Except for the gingerbread house, which was only partially finished, as the baker ran out of gingerbread dough.

Is this your first DCL cruise? If so, you can't book until August 27. But if there are specific excursions you'd like looked up, as far as times and cost, us Castaway Club members woul;d be happy to look it up for you. The specific times only show up when you try to book the excursion. Let us know.

I like the idea of doing our meet on day 2 or 3 and then the kids can meet by the pool on day 1. Although I apologize to those of you whom we're supposed to be emailing!!! We've been so bad about keeping in touch lately. Not enough computers in our house I'm afraid! :surfweb:

yeah, with a 4 y.o. we've kind of found that getting into the room, and getting up to the pool and getting back down and ready for life-boat muster and then getting back up to the room to get ready for dinner is about as hectic as that first afternoon can get... trying to fit in 'and meet a whole bunch of new people' sounds iffy...

But since we have that first full day at sea it will be nice to be able to hold it off until then.

I totally get it if some of the kids who are already in contact want to see each other immediately - but with the younger kiddos, it's not quite as imperative! :)

D'oh!! I forgot about that!!! Thanks Lauri!! Good save!

I'd be happy to help look stuff up too! :)

Sorry for the brainstutter... I forgot that you can't even see the times if you aren't in your booking window. :rolleyes1

My (extended) family and I will be joining you on the Magic in November! I am the only one who has been on a Disney cruise (New Year's 2006) and have been the one encouraging the whole family to come. We have 5 interspersed staterooms on Deck 7 (zone of 7528 - 7542). We will have 6 adults and 7 kids and will probably be a travelling circus!! Our kids are: Girl-8, Girl - 6, Girl - 5, boy - 4, boy -3, boy - almost 2, boy - 5 months.

Anybody else on Deck 7 in our vicinity?

We also have 2 bdays on board!

We are completely obsessed with the planning and very excited!
