November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

We've been upgraded twice, even though we already had a cabin assigned.

Woody

Hey Woody - looks like double upgrades are happening a lot.

Which leads me to another issue, we need to change the stateroom tour, we are not in the Cat. 2 after all, we got bumped to the Roy.

Anyone got a Cat.2 for the tour?

We'll have the wine tasting in our suite, not sure which day yet, need to start scheming.....

Wow, that stinks! so much for getting that "advantage" for being concierge. Did you get everything you wanted atleast?

Yeah I finally got it all - took two days to do it online, my time is so sparse that it was the only way I could get it done, wish I was kidding.....

But thats what vacations are for!!!

Karma must have been working OT - we got upgraded to the Roy yesterday    ( not free ), so we'll get a DISmeet in a Cat 1.

Yeehaa!!

Hey all!

Sorry it has been a very busy summer and I havent been on line for a while. Only 84 more sleeps!!!! Just wondering if you can book the wine tastings and martini party on line or do you wait until you are on board? Do these usually take place in the afternoon or evening? Thanks

Marnie

Pretty sure those are on-board only, for the normal ones there is usually no problem getting them. I've done a bunch of the wine & beer tastings - most of the time they are early afternoon.

I usually go to the cooking & entertaining series events @10 AM'ish - champagne & Bloody Marys to start the day:cool2:

Wow! I haven't been online in a while and the boards are hopping! I need to figure out what we want to do for Paolo and excursions. But BEEN2MARCELINE, you've got me a bit worried!

I realized we haven't even paid remainder of balance....I guess i need to go back to AAA. We also didn't get a pre cruise package. Wow, I feel left out!

I've been shopping though and finding some great summer clothes on sale for the kiddos! Better refocus my attention here I guess and get my plans ready for online reservations! :thumbsup2

What was flaming me is that I am a development manager for a company that does web sites - the performance of the DCL site is just abhorrent at times.....

All is well now, I wouldn't worry too much about Palo - there are always the on board ressies available, the web'sters can't get'em all...

Tell me the ones who's been upgraded, when you check your reservation on the DCL site does it say like this:

Category 12: Standard Inside Stateroom

Well maybe I'm not clear enough:confused3

This is the category we booked, but if we would get an upgrade, would it be writing down at the place????

been2marceline.... I am so jealous! Congrats on the upgrade!!!! Makes up for the problems with pre-booking everything I guess :)

FrenchSnowWhite, ours has our actual stateroom number on the website, and it's hasn't changed so no upgrade for us but I think if we were upgraded the stateroom number would just change.

Cheryl, we're flying in the night before and staying one night after the cruise in Disney. It sounds like you flight is probably early enough in the morning that you shouldn't have to worry :goodvibes

Wow, this place has been hopping today!

Welcome PurplePrincess4.

been2marceline--excellent upgrade! :cool1:On last year's cruise tour, we had DISers in Cat. 1,2, and 3. The Cat. 1 was the Walt! Bur I heard they're decroated very differently. But you're in for a real treat--it was amazing.

French Snow White--even if you get upgraded, your reservation will still show the category you originally booked. The only thing that will change is the room number.

We're less that 3 months away, and there are still a ton of cabins available. Here's hoping to lots of DIS upgrades. Last year, we were able to upgrade at the port for a minimal cost when there were this many cabins available at this time.

How much in general does it cost for a "low rate" upgrade at port? Just curious. I'm thinking I may mention it to my Dmom if we don't get an upgrade :p

That's terrific news, congratulations!

been2marceline is correct. Last year we booked onboard, and the tastings are held in the afternoon.

Both times we were upgraded, we received a phone call from DCL. The first time, we got a call weeks before the cruise. The second time, we were called two days before the sailing date.

This is good news for potential upgrades, reserving Palo and other activities.

Hey Folks,

We still need volunteers for the Stateroom Tour.

So far, we have:
Cat. 1 (Roy) - been2marceline (with wine party)
Cat. 3 - Parksfamily5
Cat. 6 - Stimpy (maybe)

We still need cabins in many more categories to make this a successful event.

We've never done it but maybe you can ask on the regular cruise forum? I'm sure you can get a better idea there :)

ok quick question for YOU guys...
So I got my husband to agree to go on the cruise and everything....and now the whole thing is paid off. Now he keeps saying he ain't going cuz he's afraid of being sick the whole week. I've talked to him over and over about how we'll take the pills and we'll be fine. But he's one of those guys that doesn't like taking pills pretty much ever. I just don't know how to get him excited about the cruise as much as I am! It's our first and I know he'll love it afterwards, but I need to get him excited too! I'm sure it'll be ok...i mean it's paid for and he's going if he likes it or not :p Just wanted your opinion.

We rebooked for the 11/10 Eastern when we were on the Wonder last March - but I've been avoiding the boards because I just can't maintain that level of excitement for 6 months non-stop!! Don't know how y'all do it!

I think I can handle from now until then, tho... so I came looking for this thread!

Seriously - I have some catching up to do it seems!

I'll read the whole thread over the next couple of days - but I'm so *thrilled* to find out there are other DISboarders on this one! :rotfl:

Me (41), DH (36), and DD (4 1/2) will be sailing in a CAT7 (I *love* the Navigator Deck!) and can't wait!!

Talk to you all soon!!

Oh, and you can call me Yndy if you like - everyone else does! :)

Last year, we upgraded at the port, a Cat. 9 to a Cat. 5 for 4 people. It was $394. It was a bargain.

Welcome Yndy!
