Lynn,
We use two garment bags to carry all of our formal wear. We fly in the night before, and hang everything in our hotel, then repack in the morning. Then we unpack those bags as soon as they get to our room. They've always been OK, but DCL could always press everything for you if it needed it.
As far as your son, I think he's getting a little old to wear shorts in the dining room. I've seen kids up till about 5 wear them. My DS soes not like to dress, and I'll let him wear jeans and sneakers, but I do try to get him to wear dockers and shoes.
My DH will turn 45 the first day of the cruise. He's very quite, and hates to be the center of attention. Having a cake brought with half the servers in the dining room singing is usually all the embarasment he can take
. I am thinking of getting the birthday celebration decorations for him, to decorate the room.
