November 1, 2008 "Election Day Castaways!"

Ok. I just found this post....

Disney Cruise Line Dining Dress Code
As part of the "Cruise Casual" policy, it is asked that you do not wear tank tops, swim wear or shorts to the dining rooms. Jeans are allowed.

The evening's attire is determined by the day, not the restaurant. On the 7 day cruises you will have a formal night, semi-formal, Pirate/tropical night and four "Cruise Casual" nights. (Disney Cruise Line will provide a brochure for tuxedo rentals prior to your cruise.)

On the 3 and 4 day cruises you will have one night that is designated "dress-up." Gentleman will be asked to wear a jacket and ladies either a dress or pantsuit.
As noted above, Palo has it's own dress policy.

While the schedule is subject to change, here is what you can expect:

My DH is going to kill me if I make him take "dress" pants (Khakis) for dinner on our "cruise casual". He is was bummed when I said he couldn't wear jeans to dinner. If he see a whole bunch of people in jeans I am going to get "the look"! Help, is this true? Can I put him (and my son would be much happier) in jeans on some of these nights? Which Rest. would be better if we opt to take this literally. Thanks! I know I am a pain with these first timer questions. Sorry about the "white" question

Hmmm. I've always thought that they discouraged jeans (but they don't ban them) from the dining rooms at dinner. DH always wears khakis or dress pants.

I was wondering if each stateroom has a thermostat in it?

I run on the warm side. I keep our room cooler than most. I make my family dress warmly when they sleep.

I gotta pack pj's for them today!

Any ideas on this???

Check out the dcl trip reports!

There are some awesome tr's.

What a great way to spend solitary quiet time in the early am. Especially with prying eyes :rolleyes1

We'll be getting ready to leave for Florida!

We planned on DD11 going to school for 1/2 day. Well, we found out it will be our school's Grandparents Day! Since we don't the grandparents to travel for only a half of school, Daddy has been invited! (If grandparents can't come parents are invited). DW will do the last minute packing while DD11 and I go off to school!

DD11 has today off from school. Well, sort of. DW met DD at school yesterday to bring home books, and "cruise homework". Today DW & DD get to have class at home! A three day weekend has turned into a full weekend of school work. DD seems to be ok with it since we don't want to be doing homework on our cruise!

Is that they really discourage jeans in the dining rooms at dinner. You can always eat in some of the other restaurants if you want a more casual place. I believe there is a buffet restaurant that's open during dinner too (Topsiders????) My DH is wearing khakis on casual dinner nights and so is my DS. My DD is going to wear capris or a skort.

Prepare final entries for 11/17 swim team invitational.
Last minute details for 11/1 invitational.
Prepare for upcoming time trials.
Figure out how to use new timing system.
Finance meeting with new treasurer.
Coordinate new scoring system with league.
Lead land training (those kids are going to kill this old man!)
Distribute swim suit & apparel orders
Attempt to keep parents from killing each other.
Purchase American Flag, and copy of National Anthem.
Work duties (on call this weekend)

Fill my suitcase with clothes. Confident that DW will take care of packing everything else. Bless her!

Looking back at the navigators it is Palo that does not want the Jeans.

DH wears kacki's to dinner and he often changes soon after. He is fine with it.

If your DH is happier wearing Jeans....Its his vacation too ;)

This is my general policy! It will not ruin my vacation if my tablemates come to dinner in something less thana ball gown and tux on formal night.
As long as people are dressed for a family friendly cruise, I just don't care too much. (speedo's and dental floss bikinis :scared1: )

I am bringing capri pants for myself, skorts for dd's & I and dh will have khaki's for dinner which he will change after dinner into jeans, I guess.

One night DH changed too soon.
So we have a picture of me in a dress, Daisy duck in a fancy dress and DH in shorts and a t-shirt.
Whenever he sees that picture he says next time he won't be quite so quick to change! :goodvibes

I only have to get up for work one more time before vacation!!
(I'm already AT work today, so today does not count in the grand scheme of vacation countdowns :rotfl:

They are dressing up as Disney Tourists  wearing our matching Incredible shirts.

They each have a lanyard complete with:

KTTW
birthday pins
trading pins
Little Dreamer Big Dreams & Disney Princess pins given by CM's

I gotta find my YOAMD Fast passes that we won last year.

I also have 2 H20 bottle holders with carabiners for their pant loops. I think I will give them 1/2 empty water bottles.

I have found their masks from EPCOT along with fanny packs filled with Park Maps.

See, being a Pack Rat has come in handy :rolleyes1

DH is DO GOOD!:woohoo:

He found the:

water carabiners;
the light spinners;
the neck lights we got at a night parade
their personalized Mickey Princess ears w/ names on them

lanyards filled with pins (no traders ... don't want to get lost) which also has a KTTW card

carabiners w/ H2O water clips

Mickey Princess ears ~ personalized

necklace lights

Disney spinners

EPCOT masks

maps

sunscreen on a carabiner clip

matching Incredible shirts

I think I am done with the costume for now.

NOW, I gotta change my focus to the REAL PACKING TONIGHT!!!:woohoo:

If so, call them (if you aren't a TRH Roadie ~ and don't get their emails) to see if they are having a special Kids Night next week.

IF our kids come in costume they get a free meal, face painting, trick or treating, photo ops w/ Andy the Armadillo, pumpkin painting and other fun stuff.

The kiddos now have 3 place to wear their WDW tourist costumes:

a party at the gym tonight

tomorrow at the Air & Scare night at the Air & Space Museum

Tues. at Texas Roadhouse.

This has got to make them feel better about not TorTing on Friday.:thumbsup2

Nothing Like a trip to the emergency roon trip before vacation. My son face planted into the slide at aftercare and he had a bump the size of a golfball over his eye. Fortunately there was no fracture. Poor little guys eye is swollen shut today but he's going to be fine. This should make for some interesting cruise pictures. On a happier note our tshirts we ordered for our group is being made and will be ready on time. Guys are in navy blue and the gals in lime green. So when you see a group of 14 adults and children in the same shirts that would be us :)

Glad to hear he is better.

That's cool that your shirts will be ready too!

Saw some questions in the thread -

Yes, there is an individual temperature control in your cabin. Adjust for your personal comfort.

I don't think the walkie talkies will work well, but they are worth a shot.
We are going to try to use the "voicemail" system on our room phone. From what I understand you can retrieve your messages from a house phone so hopefully that will work out if DD makes some friends and ditches us to have fun so that we will be able to find her.

Love the disney tourist costumes - clever idea!!!

Last night I got out my pirate lanyard and was going through my pins - going to bring some traders and hopefully find some keepers. It is had to leave my favorite keepers behind - I like to wear them at Disney, but I don't want to lose them. I was looking at one of my DCL pins last night and I didn't even realize it was an innaugural pin for the Magic. My mother got piles of them at a Disney outlet store years ago and those were "traders" for many trips. Glad I kept one for myself. My mother is an avid pin trader with books of pins. DD has a collection of all Stitch pins, and I look for whatever strikes my fancy. Last trip I was on a pirate kick. I did score some bugs life pins at 40% off at the disney store columbus day sale, and will be using those as traders.

As far as I've heard, wearing jeans is acceptable in the dining rooms, although not on the formal nights.

According to the Passporter:

Disney requests that you wear shoes and shirts and refrain from wearing bathing attire in the dining rooms. You should also refrain from wearing shorts at dinner, though jeans are okay everywhere but at Palo and formal night.

We do have some dressier things (capris and some dress pants for me, and khaki's for my DH and DDad) for most nights, but we'll probably also be wearing jeans on a night or two at dinner. As both my DMom and I are currently battling with Weight Watchers, we have a limited wardrobe, so jeans are like a Godsend to us sometimes. :cutie:

I also just called DCL just now, and the lady I talked to said: "Oh absolutely jeans are accepted in the dining rooms, just not jean shorts." :thumbsup2

My DD used to face plant alot and get those golf ball type bumps....believe it or not they reduced pretty quickly although they look scary. Don't let him stress about people looking at it....I bet it will be mostly gone by the time you leave.

ONE MORE WEEK!!!!
