I am trying to figure out what I will tell them when I have to take them out of school early next Friday. They will have to leave their pumpkin celebrations from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. I have to leave w/ them by 2:30 pm.

Any ideas??

See now if you were in NJ, you could use the excuse that you were taking them to the Annual Toms River Halloween Parade and leaving early to get the best seats. (attended by about a gazillion people every year and televised live on Halloween)
Well... you could still use that excuse and make them think they were coming here....

My Mom feel some time last night. I woke up to a noise. She said she fell earlier.

I will having my bff help me get her to the doc or urgent care to make sure she didn't do major damage to her back.

Speaking of parents, we received good news on my Dad's recent diagnosis with Lymphoma. It is contained to the cysts on his back and has not spread to any organs......Thank you Jesus!! He will have to have Chemo but the road ahead is a lot brighter then we thought it would be. Thank you to all my EDC's for all of your thoughts and prayers. Now I can relax and enjoy the cruise......point me in the direction of the bar!!!

Tigger, so glad your mom is doing better! Is she going with you on the cruise? You are amazing that you have kept this secret so long. I would have folded by now because I can't keep my excitement contained when we go on any kind of Disney trip. My kids say I have a Disney dreamy look!

Taken care of the kiddies being excused from School. My Ds Social Studies teacher gave him an assignment to get an autograph from Mickey. They are learning about elections and he also wanted him to ask Mickey if he voted since he heard he was registered to vote!! Too funny.

Kinda embarassing, but will any of you be packing white clothes? I was born and raised in Florida and we always wore white all year long. I come up to Maryland and it is a big no no after Labor Day. So my question is it ok if we wear white capris or shorts in November?? Kinda silly huh?

Mom always told us that "whites" had to be put away after Labor Day. As a young child when I started wearing white sneakers (back in the stone age - yea, I'm that old) Mom thought I should put those away after Labor Day, too!

Bottom line... wear what you want! You will be in the Caribbean, where whites are worn all year long. You won't be vacationing in Maryland!

OMG< I so totally thought of the Halloween Parade too! Maybe because I marched in it every year for 7 years? Possibly! Many a COLD parade on Halloween night, with NJ/Toms River the only place in the world you do Trick or Treat the night before Halloween!!

Being from Maryland, I too have fought the mind battle over the white capris/shorts issue. I have some really cute capris i wanted to pack! If I won't be shunned on the boat for wearing white, then maybe I'll rethink my wardrobe (yet again!)

Why is it I feel like I am running around like crazy, doing all this little crap and I'm feeling like I"m getting nowhere! I have been trying to "pack" for over a week now, and still don't look like I have even done a dent in the packing! Anyone know of some professional packers I can hire? I need help!!

Tomorrow I am off work, because I have a rhematologist appt in Baltimore. It will take most of the morning, and then my plan is to get some more "cruise errands" done, and maybe even squeeze in a haircut. I think I'll wait on the Mani/Pedi until Tuesday, so its still "Fresh" on cruise day!

We went to the dairy farm on my DD's field trip today. Gotta tell ya, standing in the middle of a dairy field, when the wind is blowing and there is a wind chill not only makes you cold, but makes you long for a sunny carribean cruise involving drinks, a pool, Brent the CD, oh wait, THAT'S NEXT WEEK!!!

Oh, and El, I tried to get Palo brunch or High Tea ressies, but they were gone and have been ever since I starting trying to book them. I have done the High Tea before with my Mom, and it is soooooo great. If you are going you will have a great time!!

Well, gotta go. I really need to get some sleep. Those dairy farm cows really wear a girl out!

Growing up in the NY/NJ area, we were always taught no white before memorial day and not after labor day, but it seems that few follow that anymore here. Also my parents have been living in FL for over 20 years and that definitely has no application down there....so wear white capris, shoes...anything...just have fun...I won't judge you, because I'll be wearing it too. Also who cares about those that do judge you, in the long run they don't matter much. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks to all for the great ideas on telling the kids we have to leave early. I think I willl tell them we are going away for a long weekend after Daddy's crazy 4 months working on a bid. They have Mon & Tue off for end of 1st quarter & the election. I gotta tell them we are heading to the airport & we will be flying to Fl. They are ALWAYS asked what their names are by TSA & who are we to them. OK, they don't look like us (they were both adopted) but I do keep pix of them in my wallet for that very reason.

GREAT NEWS FOR US: Dh won't be traveling this Sunday & returning on Thurs. Oct 30th, arriving late that night; think 11 pm at our local airport That was going to be a HUGE stresser for me ... NOT ANY MORE!!!

We will begin packing luggage tomorrow night. I have started putting things in a pile in his office as I wash the summer clothes for the girls & I.

My kids have trick or trunk in the school parking lot tomorrow night. It's really starting to settle in they we will actually be leaving next week. Guess I should take the suitcases out of storage today.

I didn't know my husband had another family in So. Jersey! Really, my husband knows we are swimming with the dolphins (although I'm SURE he doesn't know where on the planet we will be doing that!), because when we were in Hilton Head at the Disney resort this past summer with other family, he was telling everyone (when we were going on a dolphin cruise) to put on their bathing suits for when we swam with the dolphins!!!

And I LOVE that black and white at animators idea!!!

I had to remind DH AGAIN that he couldn't work a full day on Halloween as we have to get to the airport around 3:30 p.m. to check in for our flight. But at least he takes care of his own packing.

Let there be no taboo about wearing white. Have fun - wear what you want.

Totally distracted at work - and I still have 5 more workdays.

Got to get going on getting DD packed. Her dinner wear is all ready - now need daywear, sleepwear and swimwear. This is gonna "wear" me out.

So, I talked to the school office and gave them the heads up on DD going AWOL from High School. Now I've gotta email the teachers for the assignments. Dreading that backlog of work.

2,500 Box Tops for Education this week. We hope to get over $600.00 this December. I am the co-cordinator at our school. My Mom & I helped clip, sort & bag for next week's mailing. This will give my Mom something to do for a couple of hours today.

Then when we get back from the cruise, I gotta get clipping on the Campbells Labels for Education promo which is due on 11/30/08.

I told the older kiddo this am that I think we will try to get away next weekend as we have a 4 day weekend for the kids from school . I told her NOT to tell her sister I am betting the younger kiddo will know by tomorrow.

This way, I can get them from school early next Friday and they won't be really bummed that they are missing part of their pumpkin day at school. Here's hoping the teachers don't spoil it for them.
